Great Light - Highly Recommended
Mark from Missoula at REI on 10/01/2008
I bought this light on sale in August and have loved it for my morning commute of 14 miles.. All of which is in the dark this time of year.
This product has extended my bike commuting season. My old light wasn't up to the task, I just didn't have the visibility to see road hazards.
My commute is 3 miles in city and 11 miles on paved country road.. I'm very satisfied with the visibility this system provides.
I'm thinking of buying the extention power cord and rigging up a head lamp for night crosscounty skiing this winter..would need to be careful not to blind on coming skiiers.. Its that bright. A nice headlamp adaptor would be a good accessory I wish was provided.
I've had a little difficulty with the cable disconnecting from the light.. I solved this by being careful on where I mount the battery.

I live in the country 15 miles from town. During the summer I used a cheap [$] LED light that was good during pre-dawn at best. Infact the cheap light slowed down my 5 AM commute to 10mph around mid August because of how dark it was. Last week I purchase the MiNewt x2 "on sale" and now that I have used it, I would have paid full price. This light is comparable to putting a vehicles headlight on your bike(hence the short battery life), but it is putting out 150 Lumens on high beam and 92 on low, and it recharges in 4 hours. Added bonus, it has sped up my early AM commute, thanks REI.
I see the light!!

I decided it was time to upgrade from the cheap-o battery powered lights that I had used in the past. The difference is great, and this light has met all of my expectations. My night commute has me on a dark rural trail, and this light provides the light that I need to see and be seen.
I wish the mount was a little easier to use, as the screw on the bottom (underside) of the light loosens over time requiring you to remove, retighten and reinstall, but the compact size of the unit, as well as the features for the money, make up for it.
Also, the on/off/flash button is a little wonky, but perhaps that's just because of the weather sealing.
Great commuter light...cars will see you

This light rocks as a commuter light. I love the flash mode when riding on the road. Will work in a pinch as an off road light. I use it with my HID helmet light on the trail as a back up light. I love the small size. I am still not sure about the mount, so far no problems, time will tell.
Minimum serious light

A lot of light, but still it is the minimum level for 20 mph on a paved trail at night to avoid walkers and runners, and other things. I wouldn't want any less than the 90 lumens anytime, but to go up from this, the 150 lumen level, is much more expensive. The 200g weight is great for a high-speed roadie, always concerned about those limiting factors. Strobe is a must for high traffic, multi-lane streets. A good (minimal) choice for someone who really enjoys going out to light up the night.
Great for commute

This light unit is very compact in size--the battery fits nicely under the handle bar. The light is very bright and you can easily see your way while going 12-15 MPH. Highly recommended.
Great headlight

This is my first bike headlight so I cannot compare it to other lights. After a few rides I can agree with the other reviewers in saying the light is very bright, white, weighs next to nothing, and because it's rechargeable, inexpensive to operate. LEDS rule for portable lighting!
Light, bright, white & lasts 7 hours!

This is a great light for road rides at night - light, white, very bright, & good light distribution across the road. Bike club buddies were very impressed. The low setting provides 7 hour burn times and looks almost as bright as the high setting. The O-ring mount is quick & easy to get on and off & weighs next to nothing. Only improvement - a high/low indicator to make it easy to remember what setting you are in for max battery life.
Finally, a high-powered compact light

Simply the best LED light out on the market for the price. I use the Light And Motion Arc HID light as my main light source, with the Nite Rider MiNewt X2 as a back-up. After using the MiNewt X2, I have decided to use it as my primary light because of its small size, lighter weight, and the beautiful white focused beam it projects. Even on wet asphalt, the beam illuminates whats in front of me. Nice.
The best things come in small packages!

This light very powerful, doesn't weigh much and takes up very little space. I plan to bring this light on future self supported tours. I also bought the helmet mount and 36" extension cord as the O ring mount got in the way of my handlebar bag.
