Solid as rock, still being elegant

This is a nice watch:Pros: Special design. It looks very exclusive, but not so formal. Both a surfer dude, or an office clerk could wear this. It has two very cool symbols on both side of the glass. I have the silver one, and the white clock washer looks minimalistic and neutral. It's is waterproof down to 10 atmospheres (100 m) and it has scratch proof saphire glass. The whatch chain is also very solid, whith a nice locking mechanism, which prevents you from loosing it, until doomsday:-)I'm tired of those huge chronograph whatches, with lots of pointers that you realley never use. Instead, I now have a minimalistic an very solid watch, that fits in sporting activities, as well as in the office. Not too expensive.Cons: Looks a little glossy, Diamond on clock washer. I don't really know if I like that, but it's so small, so it's quite neutral. This is not a swiss made whatch. On the back, it says that mine is made in Japan, but some ones are being mounted in China.I gave it a full score, due to the very cool design, and that it's a whatch, after all, that's being very solid. Go for it!

Great gift! | |

I bought the Nixon Player watch w/ black face for my husband who is 27. First of all I have been trying to get him to wear a nice watch for 2 years. He won't he has the Rocker watch and that is the only watch he will wear. Lately we have been to a couple of functions that required a suit and he wore no watch because the Rocker as awesome as it is was just not up to par. For christmas I found the Player watch and decided to take a chance to see if he would wear it. Turns out it was a great gift. He loves it because he didn't have to give up his style since it's a Nixon. I love it because it's totally hot and now he has a nice watch. He has even been wearing his Player watch on everyday occasions, but still a Rocker fan. Thanks Nixon for great watches!!

Sick Watch | |

Great Watch!! It is light when you wear it, but still has a heavy sturdy feel to it also. I have the all black one and i get a ton of compliments at parties and other events i go, so that is a plus. Only downsides are that the crystal scratches pretty easily from everyday sort of banging on stuff, and the carbide finish on the all black band does scratch and wear away after a while. but I have worn the watch everyday, night and day since i got it and i love it more than my seikos, swatches, and other watches. If you are even thinking about it, get it. and for the review(s) that say it is just for looks and not telling time, they don't know what they are talking about because as long as you know how to read a watch, this is no different

@ willrennie2150234: Send it back to Nixon in So. Cal...they'll replace it and send it back. I scratched the eff outta my "the banks" watch, I sent it in with $40 (US) for a replacement crystal...they ended up sending me a brand spanking new one (it was new since the band was back to the original size). I had to pay because it was my own fault, but your issue sounds like an issue with the mechanism. At least give 'em a bell during Cali. business hours, they're pretty helpful and friendly.

This watch looks great but still has a clean, simple style. Fits in at the office, but is still tough enough to get out on the trail or in the water if you so desire. I have pretty skinny wrists and, despite the fairly big face, this watch looks right at home. My only gripe is that sometimes it is hard to read the time, due to the lack of numbers on the face. But if you are looking for a watch more for its style than its functionality, look no further.

I live in the UK and this watch is paticularly expensive here. I'm sixteen so dont have alot of money and I worked for 6 full days in order for me to afford it. It looks expensive but I bought it 2 months ago and the time wont change on it. Also, the hour hand has now got stuck on elleven. Im just hoping that it doesn't fall off otherwise I will email my complaints to nixon watches countless times. Dont buy this watch!!!!!!!!!!

What else needs to be said. Sick watch. The newer ones are a little smaller face than the old school players, but they still look good. Dont be too fooled by the band though. Nixon takes PRO pics, but when you get it in the mail, the band will not look quite as two toned as is shown on their website. Extra links are also included which are SO NICE for the extra steezy loose look.

I got the all silver watch. They titled this watch perfectly. A true player's watch. It's got a great look and weighs just right. Plus I got this watch in 5 days and that's sending it to a military address that's in Iraq!!!! Didn't expect it for like a week or longer. I strongly recommend this watch to any playa out there. Will be ordering more stuff from Backcountry.

I was not a fan | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
This watch might be sweet for some people, but I found it lacking the style I was hoping for. First, the face of the watch is a lot larger than I expected. A lot larger. Second, the polished silver tone of the watch is a magnet for smudges and fingerprints. Third, the band part of the watch feels flimsy and lightweight. It is out of sorts for a watch with such a bulky face. I would not recommend this watch.

The player, more like the loser.

I have owned the Player watch since it was first released. I have had to have it warrantied 4 times for the time adjustor falling out, the face fogging (due to water entering while I was in the shower), and an arm falling off. The other problem is that the face is not flat and gets scratched very easily. Watch out, I wasted my money. Though it does look pimp, only when you have it and its not being warrantied!

Not the watch I thought it was.....
| Rating: | ![]() |
I bought this watch thinking it was going to be the big baller watch that the "player" used to be....this watch however is the newer version and it seems that Nixon sized it down ALOT.....when I opened it up I thought that I got the womens watch due to it's dainty size....however it was in fact the mens. This was very disappointing and I have returned the watch in hopes of locating an older TRUE player watch.

Overall Decent | |

I got the all black player for my sixteenth birthday, i thought it was the greatest thing out there and was thoroughly impressed... then i wore it for a few weeks. It scratches far too easily. Its now been three years that I've worn it off and on for and it wore closely resembles the two tone than the all black. It has been a decent watch but the hour hand is now three quarters of an hour off (12:00 looks more like 1:00). For the price i would have expected a bit more durability.
