With his brother Jesse acting as his creative director, snowboarding superstar Shaun White worked closely with Oakley during the creation of Holbrook.
Together they went back to vintage styles like the original Oakley Frogskins® then set out to distill their own vision of American cool. Holbrook is a timeless classic that echoes the screen heroes from the 1940s, 50s and 60s, the icons who inspired youth with their own brand of defiance. Who was the legend? He was sometimes a loner and sometimes a leader, an everyman who lived by a code, stood up for what was right and did what needed to be done. You wouldn’t call him a man’s man because that macho crap meant nothing to him. What you saw was what you got, including dust from the open road and a look that said he might be gone tomorrow because nothing could hold him.
The name “Holbrook” came from a similar inspiration. Holbrook is a small town found along historic Route 66 in Arizona that sits on the outskirts of the painted desert and the petrified forest. It’s a classic western badland that epitomizes a spirit of exploration and adventure found in those traveling along Highway 66 in the 50’s and 60’s.
Metal bolts and icons highlight the stress-resistant O Matter® frame, a comfortably lightweight design with pure Plutonite® lenses that filter out every ray of UV. Optical precision and impact resistance meet ANSI Z87.1 standards to give you superior clarity and protection. Multiple lens/frame combinations are available. Choose one with Oakley HDPolarized lenses for filtering that cuts more than 99% of reflected glare. The versions that come with Iridium® lens coating reduce even more glare while balancing light transmission. Oakley Authentic Prescription Lenses are available with a full range of options.

I have owned these for 2 years and absolutely love them. They are light, fit great and have a snap on mechanism for the arms. I tried a million times to post a picture of the mechanism but I promise you they are reliable and detach at the right times. The only downside to these glasses is they are insanely popular and every person with 100 bucks looking for something other than ray bans ends up with these glasses. That's not by chance, its because they are a great pair of glasses.
I wanted the glossy black with polarized lenses so I ended up buying the Shaun Whites and replacing the yellow lenses for the polarized ones. I wear these for absolutely everything and they have held up great. I ski, backpack, and mtn bike with them. The polarized lenses do awesome for my fly fishing trips and I've even blown them apart after a volley ball spike to the face. Extremely durable and they fit my narrow cone head perfect. Love them.
Three years later, the Oakley Holbrook Sunglasses are still my favorite to wear around town, on the boat, or even on a climb. Fits great around the head. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a new style of trendy glasses. Many colors to choose from, as well as multiple variations of lenses that are interchangeable. Overall, these glasses are an absolute favorite of mine and will stay with me for many years to come.
So if you have a bigger head that requires bigger sunglasses, but you don't want to look like a bug-eyed college girl, these Oakleys are good for you.
A heads up, if you're not into bling, be careful with what color you get. I originally went with the Amber color, but the metallic gold Oakley symbol on the sides was awful. I returned them and went with the grey and black ones, and am quite satisfied.
I bought these sunglasses over the winter after I got tired of my Jupiters sliding off my face and was thrilled with the fit. They rarely ever slide around and look nice. I've also dropped them plenty of times and have yet to find a scratch on them. Oakley is the way to go. I have had nothing bad to say about any of their products and their eyewear is top notch.
I love the fit of these shades. They are perfect for any activity you throw at them. The super lightweight frame and perfect size lens fit best. The frame/lens color combos are killer as well. These are also super durable. I have dropped them on the boat before and they just bounce right back.
If you don't know..you should. I own multiple pairs. They are the only sunglasses I will wear. They combine the oldschool look of frogskins with a more refined and squared off design. They will fit just about any face.. they are PERFECT!
this is my second pair of holbrooks. the first pair i ordered directly from oakley. the first pair says "made in the u.s.a." on the right arm. the pair i ordered from backcountry says nothing about where they are made. i'm a bit shaken that backcountry sold me knock-off oakleys.
