Oakley HOLBROOK Sunglasses
With his brother Jesse acting as his creative director, snowboarding superstar Shaun White worked closely with Oakley during the creation of HOLBROOK. Together they went back to vintage styles like the original Oakley FROGSKINS® then set out to distill their own vision of American cool. HOLBROOK is a timeless classic that echoes the screen heroes from the 1940s, 50s and 60s, the icons who inspired youth with their own brand of defiance. Who was the legend? He was sometimes a loner and sometimes a leader, an everyman who lived by a code, stood up for what was right and did what needed to be done. You wouldn’t call him a man’s man because that macho crap meant nothing to him. What you saw was what you got, including dust from the open road and a look that said he might be gone tomorrow because nothing could hold him.
The name “HOLBROOK” came from a similar inspiration. HOLBROOK is a small town found along historic Route 66 in Arizona that sits on the outskirts of the painted desert and the petrified forest. It’s a classic western badland that epitomizes a spirit of exploration and adventure found in those traveling along Highway 66 in the 50’s and 60’s.
Metal bolts and icons highlight the stress-resistant O MATTER® frame, a comfortably lightweight design with pure PLUTONITE® lenses that filter out every ray of UV. Optical precision and impact resistance meet ANSI Z87.1 standards to give you superior clarity and protection. Multiple lens/frame combinations are available. Choose one with Oakley HDPolarized lenses for filtering that cuts more than 99% of reflected glare. The versions that come with IRIDIUM® lens coating reduce even more glare while balancing light transmission. Oakley Authentic Prescription Lenses are available with a full range of options.

After looking for a good casual pair of sunglasses to use for everyday use, I finally found the perfect pair. I've always used Oakleys and even ventured to other brands to try to see if I could find something a bit different. After looking at a few pairs, I realized the Holbrook's were definitely the way to go. The design is simple, but well made. They sit on my face just right and grip well even without the use of any O-mater rubber on the nose piece or ears. The Red Iridium lenses are some of my favorite since they not only do well in bright light conditions, but offer enough light transmission that seeing in low light conditions is a sinch as well. Red Iridium would not be my first choice for super bright sunny days, but certainly can get the job done. The only gripe I have with these sunglasses is that the matte black frame can show smudges or oil from your fingers, but is not a deal breaker by any means.
These glasses are awesome and retro. I purchased the ruby iridium, with the red frame. The lenses look gold in the light and you cant see your eyes balls for all you creepers out there. The frame is nice and light, and really hugs your head and ears. One thing about the clear red frame though...when you get out in the bright sun the frame basically glows. It doesn't bother me, but someone with sensitive eyes might not enjoy it so much. All in all a damn stylish pair of glasses.
I wanted the glossy black with polarized lenses so I ended up buying the Shaun Whites and replacing the yellow lenses for the polarized ones. I wear these for absolutely everything and they have held up great. I ski, backpack, and mtn bike with them. The polarized lenses do awesome for my fly fishing trips and I've even blown them apart after a volley ball spike to the face. Extremely durable and they fit my narrow cone head perfect. Love them.
This glasses are fantastic. They have a retro look, yet have modern technology. I polarized lens in mine and they are just as good as the costas that I have had in the past. I would recommend these to anyone who wants the ray-ban look, but maybe your head is too big for the small ray-ban frames. I also like how these don't slant away from your face at the top of the sunglasses like ray-bans do.
I picked up a pair of the Black/Emerald combo for a really good deal ($60) and I've been really impressed with them so far. The frames are super light and very comfortable so you barely notice they are even on your face. The lens quality is what you would expect from an Oakley product as well. These are my new go to sunglasses for the sunny days up here in the Colorado high country.
The glasses are cool, but you can see that obviously. Best selling point is the emerald lens for me. Such a versatile lens color. Flat light, bright sun, on the slopes, on the river, the lens performs EVERYWHERE. No distortion at all, not even with color! I absolutely love this lens and wish i could put it in every pair of sunglasses/goggles i own
I have the Valentino Rossi signature model. The fit and function are really good. I was on the verge of getting a pair of RayBan Wayfarers and I probably still will do so but the Holbrook were a great purchase. Classic looks and lots of compliments even from other guys.
I just got these a couple weeks ago and have been really happy with them. They fit my face very nicely (i have a medium sized face). I really like the throwback wayfarer look with the modern twist. The optics are super clear and these just all around kick ass!
