| The Oakley Assault boot is a comfortable yet supportive boot. I made the purchase with support in mind after spraining my ankle. I found it to provide ample ankle support and cushion on hard surfaces, while also being lightweight for the size of boot. Some have stated the traction of the soles on wet surfaces is not very good. I for one have not had this problem, and frequently encounter various wet surfaces, including tile. Not wanting to feel or look like I work for the logging industry, I chose the Oakley as it has great style and good performance. Most reviews rated the boot as being true to size; however, I felt them to be a half to full size larger than marked. They are Mil-Spec so that should give you some idea about size. I'm not in the military, but if I were, I'd want a pair of these boots on my feet. | |

| Read this Military. For those of you who are complaining about the high price of the boots, listen up if you don't already know. For our Military members like myself, Oakley sells the boots and lots of other stuff at a lot lower price. www.usstandardissue.com, these boots are cheaper. Seems as though a lot of people don't know about Oakley's Government sales program so there you are. Hope Zappos Leaves this up for a while. These boots are normal boot size which is usually one size smaller that your actual tennis shoe size. Another thing as well, for those of you who experience knee and back pain while wearing boots, the Assault boot by Oakley forces your feet into a neutral, level position which aligns your knees and alleviates knee and lower back pain which means no more orthotics. I know this because they helped me. | |

| Great for the military! My husband is deployed to Iraq and the Army issued boots just were not cutting it. They fell apart and hurt his feet. He saw a buddy w/the tan type of these boots on and decided he wanted a pair too. I found them and got him a pair and he LOVES them!!! They're comfy; he can run in them, he loves the appearance. They're great boots! He has never been happier w/a pair of boots! He really enjoys them! It was super fast shipping too! He got them really quick! They went straight to Iraq. He couldn't be happier. It's a really great boot for soldiers! My husband is infantry so he's on his feet a lot and now it's not so bad. This boot is seriously worth the money spent! | |

| Operators and Wanna-bes this is your boot. I got mine from the Uncle Sam, but if the commercial version is anything like the government version you are in for a treat. These are the best tactical boots I have ever owned. They are comfortable right out of the box. The break-in time is about a week. They have great all terrain capability. There are only three drawbacks to the boot. First, they aren't waterproof. Two when they are wet and you are on a hard floor they squeak too much. In a tactical situation that can be hazardous, mind yourself. Third on the government type the strings had a tendency to separate/herniated although, they didn't break or come apart. | |

| I love this boot and Zappos service - I love the boots I ordered a size 12 and they were a little bigger than my Nike size 12 so I called Zappos and I sent them back and the next day I had another pair. So inside of four days I ordered a pair of boots and had to send them back for a pair a half size smaller and am wearing them. Thats just awesome service and I think everyone would love to be served this way. My comment is try Zappos if you haven't you should and you'll love them too. | |

| I ordered a pair of boots for my son who was heading to Iraq. I wasnt sure of the size but needed to get them to Georgia before he left so I ordered what I thought was correct. The sales staff were wonderful. They assured me that if they didnt fit he could call and get another pair sent while he was returning the originals. They sent the stuff right out and it got to him within a few days. They fit perfectly so I dont know about the return policy. From my experiance I would highly recommend this company. | |

| Very good product - I'm a SWAT officer and purchased a pair of Oakley Boots in black for duty use. I have to say they are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. The bad news is the boots dyed all my white socks black two weeks after I bought them. The leather in the heel cups was bleeding. They also have no traction and are very slippery on wet concrete. Overall I think I would still purchase the desert boots, but not the black leather boots. | |

| From the hype, I thought these boots would be very comfortable and have no break in period, not true. I have some "Converse 8" Foot Pursuit Desert Tactical Boots C8884. They are quite a bit more comfortable, but they are not as durable about a 3 of 5. The Oakley boots did get more comfortable after a couple weeks wear, I haven't taken them on a ruck march yet, so I don't know if I would buy again. Overall they are good boots. | |

| Universal Purpose - I've been riding motorcycles for many years and I've also owned a lot of biker boots. This year I decided to try something a little different. I wanted a pair of boots that would work on my bike as well as comfort for walking. These boots are possibly the most comfortable pair of boots I've ever owned. I would recommend them to anyone interested in a great pair of boots that can be used in many different applications. | |

| Hands Down - My son is on his second pair. We bought him his first pair as a gift when he deployed for Iraq and he hated to part with them some 2 years later. So this year for his birthday he got another pair. He says they are MORE comfortable than any pair of boots he's ever worn and in fact more comfortable than tennis shoes. I can't think of a better endorsement than a happy soldier! | |

| Nice boots, for the first 5 months. I bought these boots for 2 reasons: 1) They come in a 12 1/2 and 2) They're comfortable. The first 4 months they were like wearing a tennis shoe. At 6 months, they got a bit rougher. After 9 months of walking around Iraq in not so harsh terrain, I can still say that they're a 12 1/2, but the comfort and durability level is greatly diminished. I walk about 4 km a day in mostly gravel and hardened mud, plus do a patrol during the week. The lining of the boots are ripped, the soles are separating from the sides, and the tread is pretty worn. Oh, plus there is a tear in the bottom of the left sole, too. Not so cool, Oakley! Would I buy another pair? Nope. Would I find a boot for less? Yup! My 1SG has a pair of less expensive Converses and they aren't jacked up like the Oakley. So save the money, and pick another boot. | |

| Not for the long haul - It's been a year since I've bought these and I have to say that these didn't hold up as well as I thought they would. They were very comfortable at the onset, but after a month, both boots started to come undone behind my heel. The material had pulled away from the inside of the boot making chafing a problem on the back of my heel. It was pretty annoying to feel the outside course material from the inside of the boot. The laces lasted the year and soles held up well although squeak like crazy when they are wet and you come indoors to a hardwood floor. If I was in the service and had a boot allowance of 2 pair of these a year, it might be okay except for the tactical minus on the squeaking. Look at the Bates series of boots. It's what I bought this year and am far happier with it and paid a lot less! | |

| Oakley Assault Tactical Boots - I am a Federal Law Enforcement Officer. I own several boots including these in the mid-cut 6" model, and have found them to very comfortable out of the box. Much like a pair of Nike running shoes, they are very forgiving on the feet. With this in mind, I found the 6" models to be painful on the ankles due to the attaching tounge-gussett creases. Not certain about the full 8" version, but I do not wear these very often. You may want to consider the 5.11 Tactical Series HRT-Urban boots if you are seeking comfort and light weight. | |
