My third Old Town

Rating:*****
This is my 3rd OT canoe. I have a wood and canvas (show boat), a Tripper (expedition), and my Guide (all round boat). I love this boat. I float stern forward with the bow seat removed, and rebraced with another thwart. This opens the boat up to hold 2 50qt coolers, a weeks worth of camping gear, and still leaves plenty of room for fishing. Mainly run < class 3's in it. If you're not an experienced paddler, DO NOT try this boat in anything more than creeks, flat water, and the occasional river shoal. You WILL get wet. I will be buying another Guide, in about 10 years. I've had mine for about 5 already, with abuse, and it still has MANY trips left in it!

Only one issue with it, otherwise great!

Rating:****
The only issue I have with this canoe is the metal screws along the edges. They really should be countersunk and covered with a plastic plug. As they are, the screws will damage the paint on your car roof or rack if you attempt to slide it onto the roof by yourself. Otherwise a good rugged trout fishing, duck hunting canoe.

Fisherman's Dream

Rating:*****
This is a rugged, stable canoe suitable for day trips and flat water. But it really shines as a fishing platform. It's a little on the heavy side, at 74 pounds, for going solo, but tracks well and is very comfortable. Get the model with the backs of the seat attached. Your back will love you for it.

Good value, lightweight and stable

Rating:*****
This is a good canoe for the $. Not really suitable for whitewater, but it's good for fishing on lakes or rivers with shoals. The make and feel of this canoe is much better than comparable priced canoes from other brands.

Negative Reviews:

Not suitable for rough water!

Rating:**
This canoe is VERY unstable and has very short side walls. This makes it VERY easy to tip over, one small mistake and your wet. I only tipped my last canoe one time in many years of use. I tip this one almost every time I use it on rough water. However it is VERY tough! I recommend keepig this one on the lakes.
