Great medium bag - I was looking for a great cross body bag for walking in the city and travel. This fit the bill. It’s hard to really get a good look at it from the picture, and I was a bit apprehensive when I took it out of the box as it looked smaller than I expected, but it really does hold a lot. My big pet peeve about most bags labeled 'cross body' is that the strap is long, but not long enough - meaning it may be long enough for a size 2 teenager, but not your average adult. This bag's adjustable strap does extend to a very good length, and the main bag can lie at the hip area or a bit lower. The two size pockets are great for a water bottle and small umbrella and the back pocket holds maps and a decent sized travel book. The inside it roomy enough to hold a checkbook sized wallet, but it’s probably best to downsize to a smaller wallet to fit more items in. It took me a while to get use to the front flap area, but it's great for pens and other items you may not need right away. Overall, I'm VERY impressed with this bag. Great for travel and general use - especially on public transportation.

Perfect for my trip to Europe - I ordered the Overland Donner bag for my first trip to Europe. I wanted something that would let my hands be free for changing planes and when touring. My black Overland Donner bag and my black North Face Grace raincoat were the two best things that I could have brought on the trip! I thought the bag was going to be too small but, when you are touring all day you really don't want to be carrying too much. The inside of the bag fit my wallet and the raincoat (tightly rolled up)...the outside pockets kept my small travel journal, tissues, pen, and euro coins handy (for the bathrooms!)...also really appreciated the two water bottle pockets-great for water bottle on one side and umbrella on the other. Strap easily adjusted for cross-body wear for airport/touring or over the shoulder for dressier look at dinner. Only thing I would change is for the Overland label to be smaller and the strap to be black. LOVED this bag and happily recommend it.

Convenience galore! As with some other reviewers, I absolutely loved my old Donner bag which was made with different materials. I had one in a fuchsia color and wanted one in black. Even though I don't like the materials they use in the newer Donner bags as well, I love the design of this bag. I love that it has pockets on either side that you can use for water bottles. When I'm not using them for water bottles, I put my re-usable Chico grocery (stuff sack) bags in one side and my sun-glasses on the other side. My cell phone goes in one of the compartments under the front flap so it's always convenient to find. I also love the key fob; it makes it so much easier to find my keys. My purse rarely gets dirty at all, but when it gets dusty I can brush it right off. I also really like the size of the purse and I like having the strap cross over my body for extra security.

Fantastic everyday bag - I purchased this bag to use as an everyday carryall-type bag and it has more than lived up to what was promised. It is tough, virtually waterproof and a great size for hooking over the back of my wheelchair. It has plenty of pockets for all my "stuff" that I want to be able to put my hand on without having to look and it is still light weight enough that when I have it over my shoulder it doesn't weigh me down. The colors are just great especially for this time of year. The only reason I only gave it a 4 instead of a 5 in looks is because I would love to see it in other materials, i.e. leather, suede, etc. I would be more than willing to pay a few dollars more for the wider selection of materials for the outside. Otherwise, it is as near perfect as you can get, in my opinion.

The BEST

Rating:*****
I LOVE this bag. It is just the right size. It does not look too big and it is not cumbersome to find anything in it. There are several useful compartments (one outer flap, 1 zippered main chamber, and one exterior side slot). It fits my huge Nalgene water bottle and umbrella and other things (camera, cell, keys, book, snack, makeup, gps) without looking too "full." The side pockets are very inconspicuous so if I were to have or not have a water bottle, the bag would still look nice and compact. The main compartment has a nice secure ZIPPER closure as opposed to magnetic closure or none at all- great for travel. The bag is washable, but I do so gently and hang dry since the exterior compartment has a velcro closure. It looks great (in black)and holds up well. I will use it for shopping, traveling and short lectures at school. This bag is very well worth the money.

Not quite right - I will just say for the record that I LOVE Zappos! I ordered this bag for an upcoming trip to France, as an alternative to carrying a backpack. I was really looking for a smallish messenger bag, not a purse. But when it got here, it was just a little too much like a purse, and not enough like a messenger bag. So while I loved the color and features it was just a little smaller than I wanted. But if you're looking for a roomy purse: this is the one for you! The next size up in the brand was just too big. I called Zappos and did a quick exchange for the North Fact Calyx Se which is a little bigger. They expedited everything so I can get the other bag in time for my trip. Again, LOVE Zappos!!

The Perfect Bag

Rating:*****
I had been looking for a bag that wouldn't look like it was going to explode with all my stuff crammed into it, but also for a bag that wasn't so huge I couldn't find anything. This has turned out to be the perfect bag, not too big, not too small. It carries my wallet and separate credit card holder in the main compartment with lots of room for more stuff. The separate outer sections holds my checkbook, calendar, pens, extra keys, etc. In the two side pockets I have my glasses and cell phone, with room to hold my keys or to carry a water bottle. This is obviously a bag meant to last. The material is strong and well put together. I'm considering getting another one in a different color.

Finally Organization Without the Weight!

Rating:*****
Amazing what you can fit in here and not know you're carrying around the kitchen sink! Great organization in front area, one quick rip on the velcro and 'bam' there's your camera, phone, pen, lotion, chapstick...you name it! Inside divided for large wallet and makeup bag (along with all the kids toys). Open back pouch big enough for a large book and the side pouches!!!! They can fit up to a 32oz water bottle! I carry keys and glasses in one and water in the other, but if weather threatens, I trade the keys for my umbrella. Best bag I've had, and I'm pretty picky! Already had two friends buy one after seeing mine. Fantastic bag at a great price!

One star for "truth in advertising" Darn. Well, I love the design. The strap is really nice and smooth and comfortable. Color (Laurel/Sky/Silver) is beautiful and subtle. NOW FOR THE DOWNSIDE: Overland used to be made in CA, which is why I spent the money for a bag instead of going to a cornerstore and buying one for $14.99. Granted, the design is wonderful and the quality seems good, but I'm annoyed when I pay more for something and it's not made to the advertised specs. Also, the "sunglass/cell phone" pocket is not padded. Some descriptions will say it's fleece lined, but it is just the nylon. Now I have to decide whether to keep it or not. :(

Perfect Bag for 27oz Klean Kanteen!

Rating:*****
Both outside beverage pockets are the perfect size to carry a Klean Kanteen water bottle (27oz size or smaller). This bag is a MUST HAVE if you own a Klean Kanteen. I love this bag so much that I can't stop telling people about it. I love it so much that I now own it in two colors! I love that the beverage pockets are mesh at the bottom which helps any condensation on the water bottle to dry quickly. The capacity is the perfect size to carry all of my everyday items. I also love that the adjustable strap is long enough that it can be worn across the body. Highly recommended!

Negative Reviews:

This one is not like the good one

Rating:*
This Donner isn't as good as my first Donner. That superb first Donner, which I bought early this month (October), prompted me to get another. But this other . . . pretty color (berry) but the front flap is smaller than the original's and the compartment beneath it has no sides and so isn't a pocket. Can't keep anything loose in there. The fabrics, outer and lining, aren't as heavy and high-quality as the first's. Is it any wonder that I'm disappointed?

Rating:**
This is not as well designed as I hoped - The side straps from the outer pockets to the main strap unhinge about 50% of the time. Very annoying. The front flap has many pockets, but the velcro closure opens all the time which renders all the pockets as useless. I was hoping this item would give me a simple and somewhat fashionable organizing solution to carry me through a busy day. Very disappointing.

I was disappointed in this purse. I was expecting more pockets as some reviews said. I was planning to use it on our cruise to Mexico and am considering a different purchase. I didn't return it because I had thrown the receipt away. I'm sorry I did. Durability is good. I've been using it for everyday use. The front pockets aren't large enough for too many items; the front flaps down.

Fix the velcro

Rating:***
Great bag with nice colors, BUT the velcro is weak. When you finally get it open, things can fall out. I have to put all valuable inside the zippered compartment and it's too bad cuz the outside part is a great organizer. One bottle holder on each side which is nice!

an okay bag

Rating:***
I have an earlier version of this bag and loved it for about 3 months. Then outside flap's velcro started to just let go and the bag would open up. I was afraid I was going to lose my things, so stopped using the bag.
