Easier to put on

These are great. We used them all winter with my 1 - 1 1/2 year old. They were easy to put on him, even though he was to young to help and they allowed him to still grab stuff which eliminated tantrums. The lining comes out of the thumb when you take them off which is the only downside. It is however easily stuffed back in. To bad Patagonia or MJ doesn't make a baby friendly clip for them so they don't get lost.

Pretty Good

I don't believe great mittens exist for kids. Once you wrap enough of anything about those tiny hands to keep them warm, they can't use their hands well. So when it's too cold for bare hands and too cold for wool socks over their hands, these mittens are pretty good. My only desire is that the cuffs we're half again longer so they'd cover gaps when the arms are really stretched out. Wind and snow on that upper wrist is harsh.

Cute, comfy and warm

I ordered the large and they fit my almost 3 year old daughter well. She claims that her hands were not cold in them, although she would also say that just because she wants to stay outside. But her hands were warm when I took the mittens off after she came inside. They are very soft and easy to put on and take off. And they come in the best colors!

Cute mittens, but too big

These are cute, but waaaay too big for my normal-sized daughter. It's also pretty comical that they have "thumbs" when her whole hand could almost fit in the thumb spot. Basically these are cute mittens to look at, but not very functional (at least for little infants). They might be perfect for toddlers.

Hands Down- Great Mittens!

I love these mittens for their ease of use, warmth, and softness. I find these mittens to be super easy to put on or take off of my 2 year old. And, they stay on his hands. Simple, easy, and fun colors.

SOOOO CUTE!

I got these gloves for my baby. They look soo cute on this little hands and I'm pleased that they have been keeping this fingers toasty in this cold NY winter. A great buy.

These mittens are super warm and stay on little hands!

Great mittens for my little one. They are nicely lined, so I don't have to worry about his hand getting cold. The cuffs are just snug enough where they won't fall off. Great mitts!

Good everyday mitten for toddler

It's a struggle to keep mittens on a toddler but these are great because once they go on, they're hard for the little ones to get off. Only wish they were waterproof.

perfect pair!

Very cute and useful for tiny hands. Don't know how it would be with 6mo+, but our son wears them fine. Goes great with the Patagonia Baby Retro Vest.

Negative Reviews:

Toddler still has chilly fingers

I would not call these easy on mittens. Truly, I think the only design that works for toddler mittens is to have a velcro flap diagonally across the back of the mitten that enables you to get your (rarely cooperative) toddler's fingers and thumb seated into their respective positions, and then allows you to bind the mitten reasonably tightly around the wrist to keep it from slipping or being pulled off. Materials are nice, colors fun, but it's not really functional.
NatureMom at Patagonia on 03/16/2009

Not suitable for infants

I am generally a BIG fan of Patagonia. Unfortunately, these mittens let me down. Impossible to get on an infant. The open is too narrow and too tight to get over those tiny hands. Perhaps they are better for older children.

Neutral Reviews:

Pita Pocket Mittens are ok

We find that you need to get at least a size larger than you think you will need. The Thumb part of the liner seems to pull out each time we take them off the twins hands. One of our boys has long slender fingers and the other has shorter beefier fingers. They are now 17 months--but when we bought these they were 15 months--they are average size boys--lean. The size S was way too small and the M is pretty good. These get wet pretty easily inside and keeping their hands off and out of things that are wet--is not easy (and not so great in snow). I would recommend the Puff mittens which we had and returned because again, they were VERY small--and we decided to just wait until next season when they are much more active to purchase those...little did we know we would get a huge snow here in Bellevue and they wanted to play in it. The mittens slid down off their hands --or were sort of pushed down by the sleeves of their jackets. These are ok--but not the greatest. We will go with the Puffs next year.

Warm, hard to put on

These mitts are warm and very durable. They are hard to get on and I never even try to get her thumbs in. However, they do stay on! My daughter is 4 months old and average size, and the xs are big on her hands but the cuff is tight.
