Easy Dress Up Dress Down
I really am enjoying this dress. In fact, Ia m wearing it now! The teal is a beautiful color. The fabric feel durable and will be great in the warmth of summer, and hard to wrinkle. The veck is way too low for my taste, and you don't really want to wear a cami underneath this fabric (it feels too thick then and shows through also). I solved this problem by buying a bra with a fake cami cover so it looks like you're wearing a cami. This works well for me and I actually use it with several Patagonia dresses. The way this dress falls, for me, is not super flattering for my waist because it falls from the knot at my bust rather than falling from just below my bustline. However, I still think it looks nice. I am 114lbs, 5'4" and fairly busty (I am nursing my toddler currently - oh and FYI this is a great nursing dress, just pull it down) and I ordered the medium. I wonder if the small would have worked, but honestly I like having this a little loose. More forgiving and comfortable but still not too baggy. I wear pearls/heels with this dress to make it fancier or I wear flips flops with it! I will wear it to Mass or to the park. Versatile, comfortable, and easily elegant.
got it in black-wish there were other dark colors (teal, burgundy, brown, etc) available. i am 5'8" and about 135 lbs...but that varies from 130-140+ and this dress is FINE for that whole range. the top is very flattering and not too small since it stretches (i often have issues with small sizes not having enough cup space)...in fact the cut provides a tiny bit of support. note there is no built in bra, though. its long enough to wear to work with a camisole underneath to limit the cleavage and its also cute and comfortable for biking, traveling, etc. probably wearing it to a wedding also. don't love the weird seam down the front, but its not that noticeable. also wish it werent such an artificial fabric (kind of feels like bathing suit material) but it does make it wrinkle-free and quick-drying (and probably contributes to it being so flattering) so thats awesome for traveling. i put it in a delicates bag and wash on cold and lay it out to dry-doesnt show any wear yet (~10 washes). also, i have a belly, and unlike others who have commented that that's a problem, i don't find it to be so. maybe its because i got the black color or i'm past the early-20s "caring about my belly" phase...
Beautiful, versatile dress
Whoever designed this dress is genius! I have this dress in at least four different colors. I just re-purchased it in black because I have worn it so much I'm afraid it will wear out and I won't be able to get it later. It is perfect for everything from running errands to dressing up for a nice dinner. Perfect with flip-flops, or dresses up beautifully with heels and pearls. Perfect for travel. You can wad it up in a ball, stuff it in your suitcase...take it out and hang it for a few minutes and you're good to go. This makes it perfect to wear to out of town weddings or other dressy events you're traveling to. I never wear this dress without receiving at least one compliment on it. It drapes beautifully.
I am about 5'1", 108lbs and the XS fits beautifully. If I had ONE complaint about this dress, it would be that it does hang a little low for someone who is small breasted. My little A cups leave the dress exposing my sternum, so it's not be appropriate for work without a scarf.
Love, love, love this dress! Please don't ever stop making it!
Try a Bandha
I cannot imagine a body type this dress won't flatter. I'm short--5'2" and 125 lbs on a good day, today more like 130--and still the Bandha is figure enhancing. For reference, I bought the XS because the Small is too long in the body. Yes, the XS is clingy. But it's clingy in the best possible way. I'm over 50, so I'm not fooling anyone into thinking I have a world class beauty queen figure. But the Bandha seems to hug the curves in the right way, even the curves I wish I didn't have. On reflection I can think of one body type this dress might not flatter: those who carry extra weight around the middle. You'd be better served by the Margot or a similar empire waist cut. But everyone from the skinny to the athletic to the curvy, especially curvy below the waist, will find a flattering fit. I now have this dress in the coral from last season and Butterfly Blue, which is more of a gorgeous royal purple. Am trying to avoid the Teal, but the will is weak.
Go-To Dress
I love this dress. I think I have 5 of them because I wear them so much. They're amazing for travel, as the fabric doesn't wrinkle easily-or if it is wrinkled, it relaxes quite quickly. I am normally a medium in Patagonia dresses, but I sized up to a large for a less fitted look-I am pear shaped as well so the top on a medium fits, but not so great on the bottom. The fabric is not very forgiving if it is tight, particularly with underwear lines, so sizing up worked for me. The twist on the bust is incredibly cute and flattering for me, but I'm a B cup, so it isn't very revealing. I wear this dress in the winter with boots and my Patagonia Better Sweater Coat or my Prana Sylvie jacket, and in the summer with flip flops, and even out at night with nicer shoes and a great necklace. Excellent transition dress. Highly recommend. Excited for the new teal color!
A flattering anywhere, any time dress
The new, shorter Bandha dress is every bit as comfortable, attractive, and easy care as my old mid-calf one, bought several years ago. The twist bodice is one of my favorites (and I do love that style), with a neckline that is not too low, but still sexy. This dress is perfect for travel, washes in a sink and dries quickly, but it's much too attractive to save just for travel. This dress is definitely one I'd recommend, and it's a reasonable price for its high quality. The weight of the fabric is heavier than a lot of other companies' similar dresses, so there's less show through of every kind. The dress seems to be pretty much true to size, though on the slim side (which works fine for me). I wear a 6 in most dresses, so I can often go with either a small or a medium. In this dress, the medium is a perfect fit for me.
Excellent improvement to an already awesome dress!
I've worn and loved the old, longer version since 2008 and I had been thinking of purchasing a second so I could have it hemmed. I'm glad I waited, Patagonia did it for me! But this one is even better; the new seaming around the waist/hip area is awesome! I'm 5'8", 145lbs, with curves, and the M fits great. This version drapes over my big hips much better than the old one. The side seams have been moved and curved around the back, eliminating that "seam bump" I have over each hip in the old one. Excellent improvement! The material is slightly thinner than the old version, but it's not a huge change. No problems with underwear seams showing through. The length and sleeves are cute, less formal looking than the older version. A perfect material and length for summer!
Amazing Dress - Love!
I've bought several different styles of Patagonia dresses and this shorter length Bandha Dress is by far my favorite! It is perfect for just about any occasion; I can go out on a date and feel sexy, but I can also wear it to a family gathering without feeling uncomfortable or inappropriate. The fabric moves really well and I am guessing it will travel nicely. Plus the colors are gorgeous! I bought it in three colors (blue, pink, and grey) in case this dress doesn't re-appear in Patagonia's website. I love this shorter length (it hits between mid-thigh and knee) and can't imagine it any longer. I hope Patagonia makes both the long and short versions of this dress, to please everyone!
Adorable Dress
I am curvy and short and it's hard to find a dress like this that doesn't make me look like I'm trying to show off the goods. This dress, while a bit on the sexy side, is still demure enough that I can wear it to a casual work function. I love this dress. Don't bypass it because you think it might not flatter your figure--I was surprised at how great it looks on. Keep in mind if you are shorter, the neckline is going to fall a bit low but it's still a perfect casual summer dress. By the way, while it says it's sleeveless it's more of a cap sleeve.
A Tale of Two Bandhas
I have and like both bandhas, last year's and this year's cut. This year's bandha is shorter/knee skimming; the length is more versatile. The fabric is lighter, which I also like. Last year's cut was more flowy (more material around the skirt); I preferred the "twirly" aspect of the old dress. I also prefer the shoulders and back of the old dressâno mini-cap sleeve, and a seam down the middle of the back. The new cut is thoughtful and beautifully done; i just don't think it's as flattering on my shoulders. Both dresses are great, comfy, wash and wear well. I'm 5'10", 150 lbs and a medium fit perfectly in both cuts.
