A versatile essential in any outdoor wardrobe, Patagonia's Capilene 2 Crew features open, highly breathable Capilene 2 knit fabric. The lightweight material allows for unhindered airflow and excellent wicking for endurance activities in warm to moderate temperatures. If you're comparing Capilene numbers, Capilene 2 is the fastest-drying Capilene baselayer available from Patagonia. Hikers and climbers like the low-bulk fabric and tapered fit because it layers well with practically any outerwear (Patagonia recommends pairing their Capilene pullovers with Capilene 3 or Capilene 4 fleece in frigid conditions). Patagonia gave their Capilene 2 Crew a curvilinear construction with seams that refuse to chafe beneath a pack or climbing sling. Capilene 2 is also made from quick-wicking, fast-drying 54% post-consumer recycled (and 100% recyclable) polyester that's treated with Gladiodor natural odor control. In a recent research program, Common Threads Recycling Program demonstrated that the environmental impact of recycling worn-out Capilene base layers into new polyester fiber is significantly lower than making that same fiber from virgin materials. When you consider that worn-out garments are diverted from trash incinerators, making new polyester fiber from recycled garments results in an energy savings of 76% and a CO2 emissions (those greenhouse gasses) reduction of 71%, versus creating that fiber from new raw material. It's a design that you can feel good about anywhere on the planet.

"Short sleeves or Long sleeves - all the same"
| Rating: | ![]() |
| Although these are supposed to be a step heavier in the Capilene line than the Cap 1 layers, I find them to be the best for hot weather (and more adaptable for slightly cooler weather). They have a dry hand that wicks great, does give a degree of odor fighting, and is cut perfectly. For me, a medium is perfect (5'9", 165 lbs), although they'd be fine for someone a bit taller too. These will get me through many days in a Honduran summer. I have 4 of the short sleeved version, and one of the long sleeved. As they are really best for hot/warm weather, the long sleeves are really just a matter of taste - not the warmest shirt though. | |

The Perfect Crew | |

| This Cap 2 Crew has become my lightweight undershirt when I am snowboarding on those bluebird days. Its soft, comfortable, breathable and has stood the test of time. On those sunny days, I use to wear long sleeve shirts and a sweatshirt, but now its always my Cap 2 Crew for my baselayer and one of my lightweight Patagonia shells on top. I have been wearing the same Cap 2 Crew for two seasons and plan on at least two or three more. I highly recommend the Cap 2 Crew..its the best baselayer out there and it makes a great gift for any snowboarder. | |

Mix & Match from Patagonia

| Capilene 2 crew in both the long sleeve and short sleeve version work well on a stand-alone, or layer basis. For additional warmth during cold Maine Winters, I use the Patagonia R1 Flash Pullover over some combination of the capilene 2 crew. Then I go over the whole thing with a down jacket (hooded) for the those real cold days. Light weight, versatile, stylish, & long wearing. As for colors in the long sleeve I recommend that you start with the white, and then consider the black which I like also. | |

Every success starts with the base

| This is a loose fitting second skin that is never in the way and will always provide comfort. People around me ask if I am an eskimo because I am never cold and always smile. It is thin enough that you can wear it under everything for cold weather sports. After a busy day you can take off the outside layer and you still shine with class only wearing this layer. Looks great as a shirt for everyday and for most sports as your only layer. | |

"Love this multi-tasker shirt!"

| Got this shirt along w/ a Paty Cap3 crew as well. This shirt functions well for my spring running but will also base under my heavier Sport Hill top for winter running. Plan on bringing on future Wind River trip and like the slick way it keeps me dry. Side panels you see a little bit on are mesh, and a bit see through, in case you want to keep in mind if planning on wearing for casual. I got the silver and love the color. | |

Great baselayer! | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I really like the open weave of this piece for breathability as I mostly have used it for trail running in the winter. The cut is also very nice, and the overall quality is typical Patagonia. I also wrote a review for the short sleeved shirt, in which I raved about the odor control treatment. After ten months, I'm less impressed. It's still noticeably better than untreated synthetics, but if it's a deal breaker, then go with superfine wool (from my own experience, I recommend Icebreaker). | |

"capilene is the shit."
| Rating: | ![]() |
| man, i cant tell you how much i love this shirt. this is probably the shirt i wear most frequently and the shirt that motivates me to do my laundry. i normally wear a medium, but in capilene 2 i like the looser fit of the large. this shirt is super breathable and comfortable. its one of those baselayers you dont even notice having on. i wore this shirt for a week straight snowboarding in utah and it did its job perfectly. looks great. | |

Very comfortable | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| Besides being very comfortable I think this shirt would fit well on about any body style since the material has a little give to it. In its natural state it is slightly slim compared to other shirts but since the material will stretch it will expand for fuller fits. The shirt also seems to adjust your temperature as needed. Seems to warm you when cold but not get you overly hot when the temperature warms up. Very happy and will be buying more. | |

My Favorite Base Layer | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| The key to this shirt is versatility - it can do it all. It's my go to shirt for aerobic activities when the temps are from 30 to 50F. It's great for layering, but great when worn alone. I wear it for fall and spring running, then when the temps fall i'll add the nine-trails jacket. Patagonia makes the best base layers on the market, and this shirt is their staple. I wear a M in the zip, but S in the crews. | |

Just Plain Great | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I got this for my birthday earlier in the week. I already wore this twice (washed it of course.) It's great. The temperature here in Philly is around 40-60 right now, probably the best weather for this. When biking it let in air to cool me off, but also kept me warm (on my chilly trip to the zoo and while rowing on the Schuylkill.) I would definitely recommend this since its uses are infinite. | |

Not very durable | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| Loved it at first but 1 month into wearing it a rip started in the stretchy stuff on the arms. I bought two and both did the same thing. I have an older version from 6 years ago and it is going strong. The new fabric just doesn't hold up to "real" use. Sending them back and hoping for a refund. | |
