The open, highly breathable knit and feathery weight of Capilene® 2 affords unhindered airflow, excellent wicking for endurance activities in warm to moderate temperatures--it's also our fastest-drying Capilene®. Because of its low-bulk design and streamlined fit, Capilene® 2 also acts an excellent layering piece beneath Capilene® 3 or 4 during colder weather. The curvilinear construction provides an updated, fast-forward fit, with seams that won't chafe under a pack or climbing sling. Made of quick-wicking, fast-drying 54% post-consumer recycled (and 100% recyclable) Capilene® 2 polyester, with Gladiodor natural odor control. Made in USA. Common Threads Recycling ProgramResearch shows that the environmental impact of recycling worn-out Capilene base layers into new polyester fiber is significantly lower than making that same fiber from virgin materials. Taking into account that worn-out garments are diverted from trash incinerators, making new polyester fiber from recycled garments results in an energy savings of 76% and a CO2 emissions [greenhouse gasses] reduction of 71%, versus creating that fiber from new raw material. Capilene® Core Performance®Capilene base layers afford quick-drying, next-to-skin moisture management for all activities in all conditions ? from high-altitude bivies to sun-soaked water sports. fickle, but precise.

For the longest time i ran in cotton, then i transitioned into synthetics. For the longest time i've run in synthetics. Much to my dismay, i went through about 12 different types of shirts until i came across this gem. Patagonia's Capiline 2 fits close but not tight. I've never had it play "suction cup" with my skin, and it wicks like nobody's business. The only downside is the potential tearing that can occur when worn with a backpack for very long periods of time.

Very breathable, smelly
| Rating: | ![]() |
I've used these for pretty much every warm-weather pursuit for the last five years. I chose them over the Cap 1 and other poly shirts because their weave is more breathable (and dries almost immediately), is a little warmer in chilly mornings, and I just like the feel of the weave more than the slick feel you get in other poly shirts. I love the seam placement - they never bother me under a pack. But... the whole "they don't smell" thing is a load of bull. I can get mine stinking in under an hour. Maybe I have exceptionally strong BO (I like to think of it as natural pheromones - ladies hit me up!), but they are rank! I'm gradually switching over to wool so my partners will stop hating me.

Superb base layer! | |

| One of the primary reasons I bought the new capilene was Patagonia's new anti-odor treatment 'Gladiodor', which uses a treatment derived from chitin, from shellfish shells (cool!). I'm happy to report that this treatment works. In the past couple of months I've used this shirt mainly trail running, but also casually. The funk has been no worse than it would have been with a cotton shirt. This is a huge improvement on previous incarnations of capilene, which developed an exceptionally awful stench in a relatively short time. The fit is slightly formed, not a complete bag, and looks nice. The material is very open weave and breathes exceptionally well, yet still manages to retain some insulative capacity (not much;, the heavier capilenes insulate more, as intended). Very sastisfied with this purchase. Bravo Patagonia! | |

Nice base layer | |

| I got it in white. As always, excellent construction from Patagonia. It's knitted open, hence the breathability which really helps if the temperature is getting warmer or if you are in high activity. Yet it's insulative enough as to keep you dry and warm in cooler condition, although it's still not too insulative as I would like it to be (I'm quite sensitive to cold). But still it's a nice t-shirt and I like to wear it to office under my office shirt attire. Mind you that Capilene 2/3 seems to be abit tighter than older Caplene lightweight/midweight product lines. But Small size fits me well except on the shoulder areas. Still I like it. | |

Always ReliableCapilene

| I've been wearing Capiline for the past 15 or so years and continue to find it bullet-proof and very effective at managing moisture. I have incorporated wool into my baselayers, but find that capilene does an overall better job during highly aerobic activities. I use it as my against the skin layer and then sometimes put wool over it as a mid-layer. I'll never give up Capilene and as for the "stink" factor that has pretty much been eliminated with Patagonia's natural odor eliminator. This shirt fits perfect with the raglan sleeves. LOVE IT!! | |

Capilene T-Shirts Make Life Bearable
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I have never been without one of these T-Shirts when I travel, bike or hike. The weight is minimal and I always carry one in my pack. I dislike heavy jackets and if it gets too cold, I slip this T-Shirt on and my comfort level increases immediately. Unfortunately, I always find friends who are freezing and I end up giving them my T-Shirt, so I always try to keep a supply on hand when I find them on sale. I highly recommend this survival item. Great for hot or cold weather! | |

Open weave is a big plus for the Capilene 2 T-Shirt.
| Rating: | ![]() |
| You just can't top this T shirt because in addition to the quality and styling that you would expect from Patagonia, this T shirt vents very well, can be used as a layering piece over or under another T shirt (long or short sleeve - capilene 2 from Patagonia), and can be used as a stand alone piece in warm weather for hiking, biking, or just kicking around town. In other words, this piece is versatile, and is a must-have item if you like the outdoors. The sprout-green color is great. | |

Can't beat it | |

| I now have six of these and may end up picking up a few more for a upcoming hot-weather trip. Prefer the Cap 2 to the Cap 1 even though it's supposed to be slightly warmer, I find it to have a better fit and be more breathable. Shirt wears nothing and is great for packing, is durable enough for such a light fabric, and drys extremely fast. Tailored nicely so it's not baggy but it's not skin-tight either (5'9", 165, Medium). Pick up a few | |

"The Illest!" | |

| I had the Cap 2 long sleeve and wanted a short sleeve version to run around outside in the spring and summer. It breathes really well and is nice and light. It also isn't too tight or too loose but shows enough muscle for the girls to stop and stare at me when run by them. Of course, they may just be stopping because they came to a traffic light or something, but I like to think its because of way I look in the shirt. | |

Best T Ever | |

| As a photographer, I'm on the road a lot. Last year, I spent a month in Ecuador, Galapagos, & Bonaire and I traveled with 5 Cap-2 T-shirts (1 on me and 4 in the bag). These quick drying shirts are excellent for travel. I wear them alone or under a Sol Patrol quick-drying shirt. I've been known to wear these t-shirts into the shower to wash both them and myself at the same time. It is an efficient use of water and they can dry overnight. | |

uncomfortable material
| Rating: | ![]() |
a little thicker than the cap 1 (duh) and i thought a lot less comfortable. i bought a bunch of these tech tees and this was not my favorite. fit pretty well as an xl, usually i take an xxl - 6'4 230 w a 47 chest. i didn't sweat in it at all, so i can't attest to it's wicking/drying ability. it wasn't comfortable enough for me to even wear it to the gym, i sent it back

Almost like wearing a fishnet

Super lightweight and one snag on a branch or thorn and you have problems. Does not boast the normal patagonia quality/durability. This is the right shirt if you are 100% focused on lightweight/breath-ability. I have very little to no faith in this shirt holding up under the weight and abrasions of a fully loaded backpack

Good all rounder | |

I think its a pretty good shirt that has been keeping me pretty comfortable on training hikes in 100 degree temps without any problems. Dries fast and has good breathability, but like all synthetics, it can get a bit smelly...
