The open, highly breathable knit and feathery weight of Capilene® 2 affords unhindered airflow, excellent wicking for endurance activities in warm to moderate temperatures--it's also our fastest-drying Capilene®. Because of its low-bulk design and streamlined fit, Capilene® 2 also acts an excellent layering piece beneath Capilene® 3 or 4 during colder weather. The curvilinear construction provides an updated, fast-forward fit, with seams that won't chafe under a pack or climbing sling. Made of quick-wicking, fast-drying 54% post-consumer recycled (and 100% recyclable) Capilene® 2 polyester, with Gladiodor natural odor control. Made in USA. Common Threads Recycling ProgramResearch shows that the environmental impact of recycling worn-out Capilene base layers into new polyester fiber is significantly lower than making that same fiber from virgin materials. Taking into account that worn-out garments are diverted from trash incinerators, making new polyester fiber from recycled garments results in an energy savings of 76% and a CO2 emissions [greenhouse gasses] reduction of 71%, versus creating that fiber from new raw material. Capilene® Core Performance®Capilene base layers afford quick-drying, next-to-skin moisture management for all activities in all conditions ? from high-altitude bivies to sun-soaked water sports. Outstanding!!

| I have purchased at least 3 dozen Patagonia T's and / or crew shirts over the years for myself and friends from Altrec. This is the first year ever I did not keep the #1 Cap T shirts for myself due to changes in design (neck opening is noticeably smaller on the Cap #1 T). With the Capilene shirt being my primary kayaking and other activities shirt, I ordered 1 of the long sleeve #1 silkweight (neck fit perfectly). It not only fit great, but it fits better than any previously purchased. I then ordered the Cap #2 Zip Neck, of which I also own one from a couple of years ago, and this too fits better than my original. These shirts are fantastic! Nothing out there wears like these Patagonia shirts, at any price. So, while I am disappointed no longer being able to use the Cap #1 T, the long sleeve #1 & #2 fit is superb with noticeable improvement in design in the Zip Neck shirt. | |

Does what its supposed to do

Mainly use it for running & other highly aerobic activities. Wicks well, highly breathable. Can wear it a few days in a row for running, has little odor (unlike cheap brands). I haven't had a problem with stink setting in & lingering after tossing it in the laundry, always comes out fresh. Light weight zip neck doesn't get in the way & fold of fabric keeps zip from rubbing. Works well in the upper 40s to 50s w/ little breeze & on windy days w/ a Marmot Ion its perfect. Wouldn't use it as baselayer under pile fleece as it tends to hang on pile, would use a smooth silkweight like capilene 1 instead.

| I pretty much live my entire life within the shell of the Patagonia Capilene 2. I hike in this, then come home, wash it, and then sleep in it. The 2 level thickness provides a perfect balance between breathability and comfort, and can be worn by itself on a cool 65 degree morning outdoors while walking. The fabric that's woven onto the sides of the torso and through the armpits and onto the arms is visibly more porous and enables a lot of the moisture to escape as opposed to soak into the fabric. The zip-neck feature allows for greater accessibility into and out of the garment. | |

Versatile | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
I picked up this for when the Patagonia 3 zip top is too warm; say above ~60 while active. I'd rather wear this in warmer weather than a short sleeve tee for the versatility. The zip-neck allows venting when exertion warms me up, and zips up to hold in the body heat when I stop and cool down. The elastic wrists hold their snugness while sliding up and down my forearms depending on the temperature. It's not merino, but it doesn't stink too bad after heavy use and it dries faster. Paired with a wind-shell it's one of my favorite spring/fall weather backpacking combinations.

Smart Looking Functionality
| Rating: | ![]() |
Not only are the Capilene 2 zips extremely versatile & great to wear anytime, formal wear & ties are the exception, they are highly functional. I wear mine mainly when backpacking as a single layer, snowshoeing when multi layers are required, & around the house during the winter months. They dry faster than any other synthetic & don't get too funky when worn repeatedly over a period of time without being washed.. I've never encountered a fabric or zipper problem. If the new generation lasts as long as the original, they are also a great long term investment.

And on hot days | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I bought this zip neck thinking I would use it primarily as a long underwear top underneath other layers in the cold. The first trip with it was June at City of Rocks. The storms blew off after the first day and at the temperature went up layers came off. Finally hot and sunny my Cap 2 stayed on and I appreciated the long sleeves and the bright orange color for hiding from the sun. It was my go to shirt for the hot days on the rest of the trip. | |

The original keeps getting better

Like the original Capilene from Patagonia this lightweight base layer is my go to piece when I'm backcountry skiing, climbing, or out in the cold shoveling snow all winter. The zipper is smooth and doesn't catch like other base layers I own and the soft Capilene keeps me warm and dry even when on a long ski approach when perspiration is at its peak. The under arm panels allow for even smoother movement. I know this one will last for years, just like the last one I bought from Patagonia.

Great for early morning rowing at 5:30am
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I use this Zip neck as my main layer during early morning summer rowing at 5:30am. The fabric feels very light yet keeps the the chill of a morning breeze at bay. Once out on Long Island Sound and the hot sun rises I am able to keep cool by opening the long zip neck. The fit is not too tight nor loose so does not to interfere with sculling, oars or slide. The best Zip neck from Patagonia yet, I buy one every year and have 4 now. | |

cant be beat | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| as a base layer, patagonia's capilene cant be beat. i have two of these from about 4 yrs ago. ive put them, one in particular, through the wringer and it still stays strong. wicking power is unmatched. you can actually see drops of sweat get pulled through and bead up on the outer side of the shirt! i have heard that patagonia has changed the design in the last couple years but if its anything like the old design than they are great. patagonia always makes high quality products. | |

Simply Awesome | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
Long past is the day of long underwear that you wouldn't want to be caught dead wearing without something over them. Patagonia has turned their classic long underwear into a go anywhere, do anything top for outdoor activities. I recently did a hike on the John Muir Trail, and this was practically the only shirt I wore the whole time, it was so comfortable, versatile, and great looking. If you're looking for a good, wicking, long sleeve shirt for hiking, look no further!

Paper thin and baggy | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
This shirt is very baggy and almost as thin as silk (you can see through it). I have one other Cap2 top and the newer version doesn't even compare. My older one is thicker is no were nearly this baggy. This is going back :(

| I wouldn't buy from these eco nuts if I could find a similar product elsewhere. It is a good product. It has many uses. I wonder how durable this new design will be. | |

Wicks well, but not durable
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I've had this base layer for a couple years. I must say that while it wicks moisture exceptionally well and smells less than the old lightweight capilene, it's not as durable. I have a lightweight cap piece that is eight years old and it's still going strong. My comparable capilene 2 zip neck has ten to twelve little holes all over it and a torn sleeve cuff after two years of moderate use. I love the weight of the fabric, but this piece has lost some durability somewhere along it's journey to base layer perfection. Maybe, I'm just becoming more hardcore as the years pass by...but I doubt it. | |

Floppy neck | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
Patagonia lightweight Capilene zip t-necks have long been a staple of my wardrobe, but the neck of this newest iteration is flimsy and floppy--single layer doesn't stay up around your neck when fully zipped. The rest of it is comfortable. Men's small fits medium women.

warm , if not a little scratchy.

| I normally like capilene base layer and liners. However, this capilene is a little too thick and tight in the arms for me. | |

Ok, but too light. | |

| Nice fit, finish, etc. seems almost too light weight, wish I would have gotten a little heavier weight. | |
