The open, highly breathable knit and feathery weight of Capilene® 2 affords unhindered airflow, excellent wicking for endurance activities in warm to moderate temperatures--it's also our fastest-drying Capilene®. Because of its low-bulk design and streamlined fit, Capilene® 2 also acts an excellent layering piece beneath Capilene® 3 or 4 during colder weather. The curvilinear construction provides an updated, fast-forward fit, with seams that won't chafe under a pack or climbing sling. Made of quick-wicking, fast-drying 54% post-consumer recycled (and 100% recyclable) Capilene® 2 polyester, with Gladiodor natural odor control. Made in USA. Common Threads Recycling ProgramResearch shows that the environmental impact of recycling worn-out Capilene base layers into new polyester fiber is significantly lower than making that same fiber from virgin materials. Taking into account that worn-out garments are diverted from trash incinerators, making new polyester fiber from recycled garments results in an energy savings of 76% and a CO2 emissions [greenhouse gasses] reduction of 71%, versus creating that fiber from new raw material. Capilene® Core Performance®Capilene base layers afford quick-drying, next-to-skin moisture management for all activities in all conditions ? from high-altitude bivies to sun-soaked water sports. Perfect for sailboat racing!
| Rating: | ![]() |
| Love this zip neck! I wear it alone on crisp fall days for racing or under a fleece when it's a little cooler. In wet weather, it fits perfectly under foulies where it doesn't bulk up and limit freedom of movement. During exertion, I just unzip the neck for a little venting and it wicks great and dries quickly from my body heat so I don't get all cold and clammy later. For overnight races, it serves as a comfy top for sleeping off watch and is not too thin and revealing around the boys on the crew! Awesome addition to any sailor's kit! | |

Wouldn't be without this versatile base!

| I use this baselayer in a range of temps (mild to cold) and in combination with a number of additional layers. The Capilene 2 performs outstandingly, providing great warmth and fast-wicking properties. I use this piece regularly, both alone and with addtional layers depending on the weather. I am out in the elements daily, and sometimes it can be difficult to determine the level of warmth I will need out on the trails for an extended period of time. This piece is versatile enough to work alone or pair well with additional layers. I wouldn't know what to do without it! | |

I love my Patagonia Capilenes!

| I've two of the Capilene 2 Zip-Necks. And I wish I'd gotten more! For cool to almost nippy days they work just great under my leather and Aerostich jackets. The fit is perfect and the material feels great against my skin. I ride motorcycles and when the temperature dips, it can get really cold, esp. when riding in the twisties and under the trees. During the winter then I also keep the heavier and more tighter weave, the Capilene 4 Zip-Neck, in my seat bag. When the temperatures dips below 40, that Cap 4 Zip-Neck is a necessity! | |

The epitome of versatility

| I have been wearing Patagonia since I started running in 1994. It keeps getting better. The colors continue to improve and the longer lengths keep me covered. Great temperature control with the zipper. The Z-Necks can stand alone, will accommodate a silk weight underneath, and looks just as good with jeans or casual pants. They wear well. Some of my shirts are 14 years old and still going strong. Just one thing...I do find that the arm pit is cut a little short so I order a medium instead of a small to prevent rubbing. | |

love it!! | |

This is easily one of my favorite layering pieces I've ever owned!! It's great by itself when it gets a little chilly on summer nights, but it's a great layer for the winter months as well. I got it in the poppy fields/summer pink. I love the color and wear it all the time. I only wish I'd bought a smaller size. I bought a medium so I could fit a layer under it comfortably, but a small would've worked just fine; I'm usually a 4 or a 6 top. I highly recommend this piece!!

I tend to live in my cap pullovers--2, 3, 4, years live--I am am 5'5" size 4 and used to order the medium for a fitted but able to put over a t shirt fit. This version has longer sleeves and is bigger through the shoulders so I ended up returning the medium for a small-it \fits perfectly. There is also a new to me zipper cover so that the collar lays a little differently than previous cap 2s - not crazy about it ...but still love my shirt.

A Staple in my Active Wardrobe

I've had two of these for a couple of years now, and I wear them constantly. In the summer they're great for cool evenings, and they're light enough to carry in your daypack just in case. In winter, they're great for layering. I wear them running, backpacking, and even around town. They look good, even after a couple years of use. These will be on my Christmas wish list this year. They are just so versatile. The fit is right on--fitted. Not loose, but not skin tight.

Great layering piece | |

The Patagonia capilene stuff is great - lightweight and way easier to take care of than my silk long underwear, which always snag on things. I have a crewneck as well that I wear under sweaters, but this style of top is great because I'm not a fan of full turtlenecks, so I like to keep it zipped up on blustery ski days or zip it down on warmer days so I don't overheat. These also withstand washing & drying without much wear & tear.

still love 'em | |

| i have been wearing these for the past 15 years and still love 'em. i kept the old ones until patagonia started the common threads program and then had to wrench the swiss cheese oldies out of my own hands and into the bin. i just wore my new cap 2 zip this weekend backpacking in new york and it stood up to my expectations--not too hot, not too cool, didn't stay wet, and (i thought) looked great! | |

The everything under shirt
| Rating: | ![]() |
I had to pry it off myself to get it into the wash I love it so much. The color and the style goes with everything in my wardrobe. Not only that, it's warm and it keeps it's shape. It's light and airy. The mock turtle collar is not a bother. In fact, if you ladies wanna look sexy, you bring the zipper down a tad, and looks nice! This is a great find!!

Okay, but... | |

I love patagonia stuff, but am not crazy about this top. It's mostly the zipper that bugs me, and it might just be this particular shirt, but the zipped up neck seems to... collapse, I guess, when it's all the way up.

| I have the Cap 3 and prefer the weight and feel for running in winter. I also thought the color would be more vivid - lipstick pink or cherry - it's cranberry/burgundy. Runs big. I am 5'10", slight build and needed a small. | |

| This capilene top is fine for exercising, running, hiking, but man, did it get stinky after just one use. I was really disappointed by that, but I guess I've been spoiled by the wool baselayers, which don't have that problem. | |
