Be prepared for autumn's unexpected temperature changes in our Capilene® 4 Crew. Its soft knit interior retains heat, while its smooth exterior glides easily under layers. A cozy, rolled-out neckline warms and comforts; panel piecing ensures superior fit, with flat-locked seams for zero irritation. Made from 50% recycled (and 100% recyclable) polyester from our Common Threads Recycling Program, with a Gladiodor natural odor control finish. Imported. Common Threads Recycling ProgramResearch shows that the environmental impact of recycling worn-out Capilene base layers into new polyester fiber is significantly lower than making that same fiber from virgin materials. Taking into account that worn-out garments are diverted from trash incinerators, making new polyester fiber from recycled garments results in an energy savings of 76% and a CO2 emissions [greenhouse gasses] reduction of 71%, versus creating that fiber from new raw material. Capilene® Core Performance®Capilene base layers afford quick-drying, next-to-skin moisture management for all activities in all conditions ? from high-altitude bivies to sun-soaked water sports. 5 DEGREES AND I'M TOASTY
| Rating: | ![]() |
| There has been a cold spell here in Phila and my 5 year old Patagonia level 2 keeps me warm, but the new capilene 4 keeps me toasty. The quality is always great and I like the fact that Patagonia recycles. I'm a big guy .I have a58 chest and 44 waist. The xxl fits great. I hope Patagonia will make larger sizes on all its items in the future. I ride a motorcycle so if its 5 degrees outside it makes it 15 below when I'm moving. I need the base layer and visability. Keep up the excellent work and maintain your high quality and I'll recommend you to everyone I know who rides. | |

Great garbage | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
In a way the previous review is right! Almost everything Patagonia makes today is made out of what might otherwise be garbage. Luckily they have the foresight and innovative minds to create great clothing out of soda bottles, worn out capilene and polartec and scraps from the manufacturing process. I love my cap 4 crew. Buy one! They rule! It's stretchy, warm and pretty durable. But, I guess if you go by the standard that everything that has a snagged wrist seam is garbage, then I guess I love my piece of junk.

im confused about this product and performance

| no one seems to write a comment in much detail about the many styles of this capilene polyester material. sure cotton is warm too so is polartec products and wool is great too,.so lets get some indepth comments on how this product is used and its durability and construction performance. I have been wearing Patagonia Capilene base midweight underwear since i first heard about it in the year 1994-95, and i tried other brands to compare products and i always go back to wearing patagonia capilene base products | |

Unbelievable Performance

| I work outdoors as a security supervisor for a large sports venue in North Carolina. While it rarely gets below freezing, we recently had a night of low 20's hit. Armed with my polypropylene long john top as my base layer and my Patagonia Capilene 4 Crew and security windbreaker, I was unbelievably warm and dry. I had great range of movement. I would recommend this product to anyone who has to do anything in the cold. | |

Capilene 4 Crewneck | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| The Capilene 4 crew is a perfect fit. I am about 6'0, 183 and it fits me perfectly. I wear it out at the bars, when I go to football games, jogging at night or for those cold days on Aptos beach (Santa Cruz, CA) Its the best form fitting loose fit top I have ever worn. I actually enjoy it more than the half-zip capilene 4. | |

good wearing and good looking

| This is the most versatile long sleeve shirt ever. It is warm and comfortable whether under another layer when it's cold or all alone in the cool of autumn or spring. It is so darn good looking (the heather tone colors) I snagged a blue and a green one on sale and I'm committed to wearing them out until they do. | |

Mmm. Toasty. | |

| A fabulous toasty top. Has a great fit that does not restrict range of motion at all - the fit is like a superhero costume! Long in the body so tucks in securely. Soft, very comfortable and doesn't get stinky. Recommend strongly for anyone who needs to stay warm while they fight for truth and justice! | |

AMAZING | |

While it would seem to be too heavy weight, I use it for everything. Im pretty slim so I dont sweat much, but its just amazing. I've used it summit Baker with little more than windstopper jacket on top and have also used it hiking in 90 degree heat. Doesn't smell after many days.

| I use capilene 4 over 100 ski days a year. Working on ski patrol,It can be below zero in the am and 35 degrees in the pm.You need a base layer that can protect you, as well as wick you when you sweat.Capilene 4 is the answer for all conditions. | |

No perfect fit | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| Unfortunately, if you're tall and/or skinny like I am you'll have a problem getting a good fit. (6"0, 200lbs,32"inseam) The Large is much to loose for a base layer. It should be fairly tight to the skin, instead it's baggy like a shirt you'd wear over another shirt. Thus it won't trap warmth or wick away moisture from your skin where it isn't touching. The Medium tighter and better, and is long enough, except for the arms. They're to short - it's like wearing a long sleeve shirt with arms that are, well, to short. It's a base layer, so you can just live with it, but a good base layer would be long enough. It's not just me - as I was returning my shirt there was another guy in the store also doing exactly the same thing for exactly the same reason. Patagonia - please, please, please either make a large that's snugger (the other dimensions were great) or a medium with longer arms. I found a smartwool base layer shirt that fit me perfectly, but I hate that itchy/crawly skin feeling I get from smartwool so that doesn't work for me either. | |
