Comfy! Cute! Wacky Sizing!
| Rating: | ![]() |
These are divinely comfortable- got two on sale, and ended up buying another when it went on sale. These likely do not have enough support for bigger chested calls (if you look at the specs, it DOES say these are meant for A/B cups) but I am a 32C and it is enough support for my small-medium chest. PLEASE NOTE- the sizing on these *does* run pretty weird. I initially bought a medium and ended up returning for a large, as I am tall and broad shouldered, and didn't much care for the "squished armpit fat" effect that the medium gave me. I'm not really sure WHO a small would fit (a child, perhaps?) but I'd say if you are tiny (32A, maybe 32B), a medium will probably fit you and if you are anything bigger (34A, 34B, 32C) you should go with the large. I have a tiny ribcage and the large is NOT too big around for me. I suspect that if my chest were to suddenly grow a size overnight, this would still fit just fine, although I don't know that it would provide support for hard impact activities.

Great Bra - Don't fix what is not broken

| I have been buying this bra regularly since 2004. I own almost 20 of them now and this brand is all I will wear. I still have all of the original ones and they are just starting to show wear and tear. I was disappointed that the fabric was changed in the Fall '08 version. The fabric is softer, but they are not nearly as supportive as all of my previous ones (the fabric wears really loose by the end of the day), they seem to hold heat and moisture more and it makes me itch like crazy when I sweat. I have none of these problems when I use my older ones. I bought four in fall of '08 and just hate the new fabric even after several washings. I am afraid to try the spring line, but I will give it a go anyway and hope the fabric is of the old spec and not the new. This bra is great for everything and while little changes are usually positive in the performance of the product I just wish that they would leave a good thing be. You cannot perfect something that is already perfection. Ditch the awful new fabric please (colors are wonderful, fabric make up is terrible). I am 5' 9" and a 34DD and can wear the large with no problems. | |

| My wife should be writing this, but since she can't be bothered I'll have to do it as an "interested observer" Sports undies for backcountry activities have always been a challenge, but the current generation of Patagonia womens base pieces are as good as they get (no personal commentary; I'm just channeling here!). The Mesh Bra is a great example. The fit is supportive, yet the overall effect is light - moisture moves, the bra dries quickly. Maytagged in a Ziploc bag and hung off the tent fly, these will be dry in an hour or two. The cut and fabric have led Jan to wear these as outerwear for especially warm days on the trail. Comfortable and easy to care for. The only negative I can recall her noting is that between the first one she bought (2005) and her next purchase the fit changed slightly. What was once the perfect compromise between support and ease getting on/off became just a bit snugger, causing difficulties getting the in and out again. The next larger size is simply not supportive enough. Her only complaint. Jan would recommend you check the fit carefully, but she would definitely recommend that you give the Active Mesh Bra a look. | |

Sports bras generally bug me - the discomfort, smushed feeling they give is less than desirable. But hiking in normal bras....not so good either. So I bought this one. I bought a medium, which mostly fits correctly. The waistband is a little loose, but the rest of the bra fits perfectly. I'm especially pleased with the strap length. I'm a 32B which is kind of a rare size. My main complaint is that I really wish sports bras would be sized more like normal bras. Yes there isn't a "cup" but you can have a small waist and a larger chest.

I was skeptic the first time I tried this bra out. I'm not very big (5'4'' 125lbs) but have big boobs (30 DD). Needless to say I have big problems finding bras and sports bras. If the girls fit in the bra it is not tight enough around my back and if it's tight enough there is not enough fabric in the front. Now, I never expected this bra to be something I could do high or even medium impact sports in and I can't. But it is so comfortable you barely know you are wearing a bra and support is good enough for low impact like climbing or just walking or chillin around the house. I got the medium and it actually works. Again it could be tighter around my back, but it is enough for low impact and even when I raise my arms it doesn't ride up under my boobs. I have two and they are cute too so if the show under tanks or tees , no problem! :)

... I'm buying two more today. Although this seems to confuse the sizing issues other reviewers have mentioned even more, I got the medium and it fits me great, even though I'm 5'1", 34B, 122lbs (yeah, I'm a bit "stockier" than most of the ladies who are brave enough to put their sizes out here, but hopefully the info will help someone else determine their size). I wear mine to climb in and LOVE it. It moves with me but stays put around my rib cage and doesn't ride up under the girls like all the other bras do. I don't know if it would be supportive enough to run in, but for climbing, it rocks... no pun intended. The only down side is that I still get the unaboob with this bra. That said, I haven't found a solution to that in a non-separated cups sports bra yet, so I'm not going to worry about it. Definitely recommended, especially at such a great sale price.

I have tried so many sports bras. I'm like a 34b, and I bought one of these Patagonia Active Mesh Bra's one or two years ago and since then..well I have like 5 now. The wicking is 100% fantastic. I use them for climbing, training/gym, running, river trips, ice climbing, mountaineering, travel, you name it. They dry fast, wear very comfortably, and look great. The only con is the uniboob effect but who care's when you're out there doin it, and I usually choose a more relaxed sports bra for hanging around camp, etc. I mean, these are comfortable but I do get an XS vs a S which is tight for 34b but it's great for high impact sports. Maybe do a size that fits for comfort, one size down for a solid fight like when you don't want them going anywhere.

Great support in a stylish bra
| Rating: | ![]() |
| This is my favorite sports bra. Last season, they seem to run a bit smaller and I ordered size Large, which fit perfectly. This season, they are running bigger, so I had to exchange my first order and go with medium. Fits perfectly, I am a 36C. I run in them, and do step classes, they work well. If I am going on a strenious run or workin gout for more than an hour, I will usually wear a sports top with a thin shelf bra over it for added support. These bras are also stylish, so you can pull off wearing it by itself during a long hike, or for a dip in the pool or beach after a long run or walk. No seams too. Great combination of style, confort, and support. | |

Love the Comfort and Medium Support

| This is a great bra. Comfortable and supportive without the smashing feeling other athletic bras can give. I was apprehensive at purchasing a bra on line, but after reading all the great reviews, I decided to take a chance. I’m a 38C petite and I was fearful the bra was only for smaller sized or taller female. It took me 10 minutes to get use to the fit; I liked the bra so much, I purchased two more! I recommend this bra for medium to low impact activities, although I also use it as an everyday bra. (Personally, I need a more supportive bra for running.) By-the-way, it’s very cute on and modest enough to wear without a shirt at the gym! | |

| i hate bras. i absolutely loath the typical under wire, padded and snap closer dead center of my back kind of bra. I've been a shelf-tank kind of girl for the last 6 years. but when I'm climbing outside and its hot, or I'm on a long road road, i wear one of the 4 Patagonia sports bras that i own. i loved the first one so much i jumped at the chance to buy three more when they went on sale. i love them so much. they are comfortable and soft. they are quite perfect for any sport. and especially woman like me who want a great bra, with out all the wire and pads and straps. | |

weird fit | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
I have been eyeing this bra for a while b/c it seemed exactly what I was looking for. A "bustier" style bra that would work under a racerback shirt with thin straps...it would if it fit. I am a 34A and usually wear a small in sports bras. When I first got my hands on this bra the material felt a lot heavier than expected (not a neg yet) but I couldn't even fit in the Small. The medium was ok around me but it came up too high under my arms and cut in the skin which was very uncomfortable. I haven't tried on a Large but that might just end up being too wide. I guess this one is not for me.

| I'm a petite girl and a solid B cup. I thought this would be a great bra for a hiking trip. However I tried it on and it was way too tight around the shoulders and chest. I returned it and just wore a Hanes sports tank which worked fine for me. I do have to say, I love the Patagonia brand and can't get enough of the panties! | |

Stylish and comfortable but lacking in performance
| Rating: | ![]() |
| This is a comfortable and good looking sports bra, but I found that it was not supportive enough for trail running. Also, although it wicks fairly well under light exersion, when put to the test under extreme heat and performance conditions, it did not do as well as others in this category. | |

Cut too high under the arms

| I love the fabric but the cut is very uncomfortable. The arm openings go up too high into the underarm area and instantly chafe. I am actually better off wearing this thing backwards, since at least the back is cut in far enough. | |

Great but needs a little help

| I purchased the Active Mesh Bra because I have always loved Patagonia's quality. The bra is made of a great fabric, cool green color and great sale price. The bra is very supportive and seemed perfect until I was about half way through my run when I realized it was beginning to rub. The problem for me (and it just may be my body) is that the bra material comes up so high under my arm that it rubs as my arm swings when in motion. I have a giant red spot- ouch. Like I said my other patagonia bras have been perfect so maybe this is just an odd fit. Just make sure it feels okay before you are stuck out on the road. No fun there. I still trust Patagonia and will definitely continue buying their sports bras- just assure the fit first. | |

Order a Larger Size! | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I didn't believe the other comments about the small sizing - I'm a 34A and I'm used to having to buy either S or XS in most things, and when I've had trouble with Patagonia sizing, things have tended to run a size large. It is indeed sized small. I could certainly wear a S, but it was not going to be comfortable over time - I could feel it constricting my breathing and it squished up my skin in the underarms. Other than that, it was cute, the fabric is a nice combination of sturdy and soft - very stretchy in a supportive way - and the straps are placed well. (They don't adjust, which is usually a problem for me, but not these.) I'm going to try again with a larger size - fingers crossed! | |

| About 8 years ago I bought 2 Aasics bras for backpacking and have been on a quest to replace them ever since. My quest continues. This bra has great fabric but a so-so fit. I don't understand why it's so darned *big* -- not size-wise, just as a garment. It would be perfect if it were an inch shorter (the band feels like it's compressing my diaphragm), and if the underarms were cut 1/2 inch lower (it's digging into the pooch at my underarms). I'm going to roll it up and tug it down and hope it develops some ease as it breaks in. | |

i initially loved these sports bras - they really fit nicely when you first get them. i have now used them for a year - and after fairly regular use (i would say once or twice a week), the inside lining starts to stretch in a way where it looks lumpy from the inside. the outside still has elasticity, so it looks like you have extra bulk or uneven-ness underneath. kind of annoying because these are expensive and super cute to start with.

I got the black bra, which looks like it might have a little different cut than the colored ones. I got a medium, which for a 34A I thought would have been fine, but it was way uncomfortable. It cut up under my arms in the front and back, and was quite a bit tighter than I expected it to be, in a bad way.

If you're a C or larger this bra isn't good for anything other than yoga class. It's cute though but I have found with patagonia sports bras to size up. I have a 32 inch back measurement but a C/D and I have to get a Medium in this cup, the small is suffocating. It's cute and fun and a great top for yoga, if you're a B or A cup, this bra would be great for other sports!

| Great material, nice design with good strap placement, full coverage (if that's what you want), but it is too tight and digs just under the arm. I'm petite, but somehow the small just feels too small! Can take a beating: almost wish it would lose some of its stretch . . . I like it enough though that I'm looking for another patagonia capilene bra in a better cut for me. | |

| This bra was heavier/thicker than I had anticipated. I ordered a medium and after wearing it a few times I'm thinking I should have gone for a large. I've never bought a large but since the straps aren't adjustable it seems to ride up in the front. I have kept it and wear it but it's not my favorite one that I always reach for. | |

| I like the styling and color choices. The bra is comfortable for a while, but after a full day the ribbing digs into my skin and when I take it off my skin is marked. It also comes pretty high up under my armpits and chafes there a bit. So, good but not great. I bought two but probably won't buy more. | |
