Great shoe, but for me...

These were a replacement for another model shoe that is discontinued. The previous, fairly similar shoe, had an elastic lacing system that worked great for me with my narrow feet. This new shoe is more solidly constructed, but the elastic wedges do nothing for me, and the shoe is very loose on my foot. I know mail order shoes are very rarely available in narrow widths, and NEVER at web merchants like Patagonia or Territory Ahead etc etc, even though 20% of the population has narrow feet, so I took them to a traditional shoe repair shop. They are going to shorten the elastic pieces (all four of them) for $15. I am hoping for good results, because these are very well made and attractive shoes...they just don't fit.

Overall very happy

Overall I really like these shoes and will buy another pair. I've been wearing them for a little over a year now nearly every day for work and casual wear. I heard the squeak, but it's gone now. I've swapped out the standard insoles for come custom ones and they now feel almost like my barefoot shoes. I really like them. i travel a lot for work so being able to stuff them is a nice plus. The leather is holding up well with little care, and the joining between the upper and lower seems to be outlasting the rest of my shoes. When I'm not in my barefoot trail gloves these are my preferred shoes.

choice footwear

My review might be a bit premature but this honeymoon is in full swing. I recently purchased these shoes while shopping for comfortable/stylish everyday footwear that might ease my addiction to the slides I have been wearing almost everywhere. When I saw these I was drawn to the stand apart difference in their styling and design and trying them at the store suggested that the fit was going to be easy to love. These shoes now feel as if made for me; they're light extremely comfortable, and beautifully crafted... perfect for someone underwhelmed by the current crop of "clunky boats" that pass for shoes in today's marketplace. Way to go Patagonia!

Excellent shoes

I'm not the kind of person who would gravitate towards a pair of shoes like these. I tend to wear either a pair of retired running shoes or my Chacos sandals. But I needed a good pair of casual shoes to wear to work. They need to work with both khakis and jeans (what I wear most), and these are just the shoes. I wear them and they feel like slippers. I feel they look best actually with jeans. It's interesting now, too because since I can wear my running shoes on casual Friday, I tend to go with these shoes.

A very comfortbale shoe. As stated througout other reviews, they do lack some arch support, but wearing this is almost like being barefoot. I can wear them to work, out at bars, and just about anywhere else. They go with both jeans and work pants. When I got mine, I sprayed them down with a stain/water repeller (available just about anywhere at shoes store or convenience stores) to try and protect the material a little bit and it seems to be doing the trick- shoes are still clean despite living in a city, commuting, rain, spills, etc.

I bought these shoes because my other patagonia shoes that were similar were stolen while i was on an east coast trip (thanks, East Coast). These shoes are a little more classic in their style. I like them a lot- they slip on and off easily but fit snugly enough once they're on. Probably perfect for those travel days when you have to remove your shoes a few times for TSA at the airports. All in all, they are really nice and comfortable and look like they should last a long time.

Great wheel but runs a bit small.

Yo. Listen up y'all. I've been rollin pata shoos for a long time now. I dig the casual comfort of these wheels. Can wear them out at de bars or pinwheeling for the man. Casual Fridays, how 'bout casual every day. I'd rather swing these than a tippy tight oxford. Don't matta y'all. I would have busted 5 stars for these but they run about 1/2 size smaller than the rest of their shoes.

I bought these shoes for my boyfriend and he loves them. He says they are like wearing slippers. Very comfortable shoes and true to size. The leather is super soft. When he took them out of the box he rubbed the shoe on his face! That's love! You can dress this shoe up or down. He has worn them with a seersucker suit and with casual attire, shorts, and a shirt. Great purchase overall.

My new favorite shoes! I\'ve been looking for shoes exactly like this for months. Comfortable, feels like a slipper. Looks great with jeans or chinos. Color is perfect. Maybe not the best for long walks or if you spend a lot of time on your feet. But it\'s a great casual shoe.

Awesome!

These could be the most vesatile pair of shoes I've ever worn. They fit perfect and look great with shorts, jeans or slacks. The soles really make these shoes though, they have an incredible feel to them when worn w/o socks. They also breathe well, but don't forget the foot powder!

Negative Reviews:

Subpar Shoes

My problems with these shoes: they make my feet sweat insanely (probably because they don't breath at all), they get uncomfortable for any walking over a mile or so, they squeak quite loudly when on wet surfaces, the soles started wearing out with just 2 months of regular wear in the city, and they are terrible in any kind of wet conditions because they are not waterproof and take some time to dry out. That being said, they are quite comfortable for casual use and they are very good looking. These are the first Patagonia shoes that I've purchased and they are the first product of theirs that I've been anything less than completely satisfied with purchasing. I would not buy these shoes again though.

Disappointment

First let me say that this is a nice looking shoe and my husband thought they were comfortable. If you walk on carpet all day they would be great, but if you walk on anything else the soles squeak terribly. Thankfully he didn't wear them out of the house before noticing this and we were able to return them.
pamomof2 at Patagonia on 11/05/2011

Fit

I had a pair previously and they were fabulous so I bought another pair. The new pair is very comfortable but one shoe fits perfectly in the heel and one is lose.
