Great jacket, just wish it came in a hoody version

I bought this jacket for my daughter and it has been the go to jacket for everyday in winter. I like that it's warm without being bulky and layers well, and not too warm. I have both the regular and hooded adult versions and love them as well. I wish the kids came with a hood, because even when you don't wear the hood, the neck zips up higher and makes it more snuggly. We live on Donner Summit, so deal with some extreme weather up here, and these are great jackets for fall, winter and spring, and even camping in the summer when nights can still be cool. We found it to be very durable and will pass it on when we get a larger size for my growing girl!

I am a petite lady (5'2, 108 lbs) and ordered this jacket (size L) after the adult sized jackets were too big. It fits well and is quite warm and light weight. This type of jacket is made to hit at the waist, but at least the girl's version is cut so it is longer in the back, which is nice. Overall, it is warm enough to wear most of the winter so far, although it is not wind-proof, so I would not choose to wear it alone on a windy day. The best part about it is that it's light weight and not bulky, yet warm.

I ordered this for my 10-year old daughter and got it last night. I started looking for another jacket right away because it was so light I didn't think it would keep her warm. Well it snowed last night and she has been wearing it outside for most of the day. It's kept her warm and cozy! She will probably need a waterproof shell when it's raining or in heavy snowfall since it's not waterproof, but we're pleasantly surprised and very satisfied even though it's thin and light.

Beautiful jacket

I purchased this jacket for my granddaughter who is 11 years old. It was a discontinued color (a beautiful blue/purple. The jacket is light as a feather and soft. It will be a great piece for her this fall/winter/spring. She lives in northern Vermont and needs layering pieces. She loves the jacket and my daughter (who saw it) wants the same one. The jacket was an internet special so I saved some money too!. Would recommend this.

Great!!

This jacket was purchased for both girls 5 & 8 yr. olds.
The jacket is light and warm from what they tell us and it is breathable enough when they are at school on the playground all the while keeping them warm enough. Sometimes their only complaint is that the wind goes through these a little more than their Retro-X coats. Overall they really like them. Another great product from our favorite outdoor company.

Love these down sweaters

I have two of these now, one adult XS in black, one kids large in coral. I've had the black one for at least 5 years, and love how it feels, looks, and keeps me warm with its 800 down. In Illinois, i hardly ever need another coat My new kids' sweater is also beautiful, but it's 600 down, not quite so warm.

Beautiful, warm, lightweight, and designed for a woman's body!

Got this for my gorgeous eleven year old daughter in blue. Phenomenal color that totally brings out her blue eyes, and of course, all the usual Patagonia excellence one expects: the jacket is light as a feather, very warm, and covers a some of her cute derriere. In other words, it totally rocks, and she practically sleeps in the thing. Highly recommend!

Yes, it is that good

Having had my daughters in the Better Sweater Hoodies and Snow-Flyer Winter Jackets, buying these seemed a bit of a 'tweener splurge. They quickly became their go-to coats, probably because of their light weight and low profile. Warm enough with a fleece underneath for weather down to the 40's. Very nicely waisted cut for a little girl. Very highly recommended.

Great kids down jacket

Bought one of these jackets for each of my little girls. They have almost worn them out this season already. Living in south Georgia we don't often need the heavier down. These jackets are perfect for those chilly morning rides to daycare or just playing in the backyard and woods with the dogs. Great quality and good fit.

Perfect Jacket

We bought this for our 8 year old daughter and she loves it. It's the perfect jacket for her -- warm, but not too bulky. She likes how easy her school backpack fits over the jacket. Plus, she loves the style and color. We will definitely be buying more of these as she grows out of this one.

Negative Reviews:

Pearl is see through

I ordered this jacket for my daughter in the pearl colorway and you can see the down feathers clearly through the outer layer of fabric. If ordering, I suggest you order another color. Other than the color, the fit and comfort of the jacket is GREAT. My daughter loves it....we just wish we had ordered another color.

Neutral Reviews:

Adult yes. Child no.

My 10 year old daughter bought this for herself with her own money. I cannot with good conscience recommend this jacket for an active child. The fabric is very high tech and lightweight but it is also fragile. After two weeks she already had scuffs and small holes developing around the cuffs. These occurred while wearing to and from school not while hiking with dad. I discovered by reading through the Patagonia blog that these small holes can be sealed with Crazy Glue which I have done with great success. I have the same jacket and would indeed recommend it for an adult. It requires special care while wearing and when washing. That being said she does love the jacket as I do mine.

Recommend darker colors

This is a great jacket, I bought one in different colors for each of my daughters. I am very disappointed in one thing which is that the coral color clearly shows the dark grey goose feather down through the outer fabric making it looked mottled and dirty. I read reviews that the white version did this but want to warn others of this if purchasing the coral color. The darker magenta does not show the dark feathers. I wish a white feather had been used for the lighter colors, my daughter loves it but to an adult it looks like it needs to be washed!
