pretty satisfied

Rating:****
i was looking for an all purpose fleece jacket for the autumn. i may buy another but i only wanted to spend $150 or less on my first purchase. for the price, it performs well. i got it yesterday, on a windy day in portland - i stepped into the store without a jacket. when i left, it kept me warm but when the wind whipped, it went right through. still, each time the wind calmed i felt pretty toasty. so this is one of those amazing patagonia inventions that keeps you warm yet highly breathable, IMO. it says "slim fit" but i find it a little boxy. still, happy with the fit since i intend on wearing it over sweaters. its pretty flattering overall. im thrilled with the Blackberry color. and i also am looking fwd to owning a fleece which doesnt show the usual pilling (due to its different texture).

I purchased this jacked for a trip to hike the Tour du Mont Blanc in September. The Jacket was just the right weight, light, but warm. We were backpacking and it felt comfortable under my pack...and looked great when we went out to dinner in Courmayer, Italy. I loved the snuggly feel of it especially in the evening and early in the morning. I have short arms, so was concerned about the long sleeves, but found they rolled up to the just the right length for me. I also liked that the jacket was flexible, not like a straight-jacket. The pockets were great, especially having an outside chest pocket. I'd love to have the Pesto color(not in the store I purchased from), so maybe I'll buy the pullover...Thanks for the super jacket, I love it!!

Nice Looking Jacket

Rating:****
A nice summer weight jacket. Alaska's summer isn't usually this warm, so I purchased this jacket for outdoor adventures. It keeps you cozy warm but is also not too hot. Our offices aren't air conditioned and this little number is like some kind of magic fabric: I don't break a sweat when indoors, keeps me warm outdoors. Every dollar I've ever spent on a Patagonia product has been a dollar well spent. I also love the color of this jacket and get at least one compliment on it every time I wear it. If I had one wish about Patagonia gear at all: it would be to bring back some of the gorgeous, retro colors they had for fabric in the 80's. This jacket is just beautiful though!

My new favorite layer

Rating:*****

I really didn't need a new fleece when I bought this, but the beauty of the northern light color broke me down and I brought it home. i previously had a Marmot Radiant jacket, which is very similar, but this one has a little something extra. The fibers are just a little softer, and I like the fit just a little better.

Right now, the temperature is hovering at about 30 degrees. This jacket is just about perfect on its own for a still day in that range. If there's a warm south wind, it's good for about 40 degrees. As with my Marmot jacket, I wear it when the office turns the A/C up just a little too high.

"The most beautiful and pragmatic jacket ever!"

Rating:*****
The very image of this jacket made me lust for it, and now that I have it in my possession I'm completely in love. It's so soft that it makes me want to stand around petting my own arms, and the rose taupe color is an amazing dusty purple. Plus, it has three pockets outside and one big deep one inside that could easily hold a water bottle, one of your shoes, a guinea pig, or just your passport and camera. I am 5'6 and normally a size 4/small and the size small fits perfectly with room for layering. Warmer than the Denali and certainly prettier. You should get it, you know you want to.

"Funny armhole shaping, but good jacket overall"

Rating:****
Having been spooked by the "slim fit" notation in the catalog copy, initially I ordered a medium, but I returned it for the small which is a good fit. Great snuggly fabric, works nicely as a sweater-equivalent. I'm not too sure what the "cross-dyed espresso and whatever-all" means in the fabric color (though I do know what cross-dyed means, being neck-deep in the textile industry), because there's nothing cross-dyed about it - this sucker is off-white. The only thing that troubles me about this jacket is the cut of the armholes - it's a modified drop shoulder, and it doesn't quite work in this fabric - there's excess fabric bunching at the armpit.

it's freakin awesome

Rating:*****
My husband gave me this jacket for my birthday last april. I wore it on every single cool spring day we had - in the garden, with my kids at the park, on hikes, over my pj's in the morning while cookin up pancakes in our farmhouse. I couldn't wait to wear it this fall - in fact, I have it on right now. Totally awesome features: The arms and bottom aren't gathered so it's loose and comfortable. It's super soft. The pockets are deep. Wash it and wear it & repeat, repeat, repeat without a care because it (and therefore you) won't stop looking fantastic.

Lightweight

Rating:****

I wasn't sure what to expect when I hit the submit button, but this is classic Patagonia. The color is beautiful and the jacket is well cut. This is a lightweight, non-windproof piece, meant to be layered. The sleeves are just right and the shoulders are cut for an athletic women. The cut through the waist is a bit boxy and it could be a bit more darted. I also wish the neck was looser - I leave it partially unzipped. But a winner nonetheless. I too have the Marmot Radiant jacket and I feel less like a rug in the Retool.

"Unique"

Rating:*****
What I loved about this jacket is that in a North Face kind of world, you really stand out in this Patagonia jacket. I especially love that I got a color that even The North Face couldn't compete with - Cranberry Lipstick. As much as I love both The North Face and Patagonia, I found this jacket to be a great and less expensive alternative to both the Denali and Retro X jackets, respectively. I absolutely love how soft and furry it is, more so than the North Face jackets I have. Perfect for southern winters.

so warm, so comfortable, great service!

Rating:****
I ordered the Women's Full-Zip Re-Tool Jacket several weeks ago, and am thrilled with this warm and cozy fall to winter staple. My only issue with it is that the sleeves may be too short for tall women with longer arms. Style isn't compromised in the design of this jacket, with its fairly true to size fit and typical Patagonia quality. Not only that, but I got a great deal on it and it made it here-from Oregon to my campus in DC-in an impressive amount of time-thanks Altrec! I'm very impressed!

Negative Reviews:

funky color, funky fit

Rating:**

I really like the look and feel of this jacket, but the color looked more green than khaki online and in reality, it was pretty khaki. Also, I'm not sure who the jacket is made for, but it was tight in the shoulders and HUGE at the hips and I have a pretty hourglass-like figure with sizeable hips. Anyone with smaller proportions would be swimming in this jacket.

Neutral Reviews:

re-tool

Rating:***
Although I like the style of the re-tool, I found that the fabric is inconsistent with the warmth of the jacket. It has an appearance of being very fleecy and so you would wear it in the cold winter months. But it is truly a lightweight jacket and it is not designed for colder temps. I think it would look funny to be wearing such a fleecy coat on a sunny warmish day.
