Inspired by a 1960s photo of Yosemite climbers at a valley-floor wedding, the lambswool crew is made of an exceedingly soft yet durable blend of 5-gauge lambswool and nylon (80%/20%) that you can wear alone, over a T-shirt or under a jacket. Skin-friendly and smooth lambswool moderates your core temperature, resists odors, and maintains its shape through miles of road-tripping. Offset shoulder seams provide a smooth flow under pack straps or a camera bag. Ribbing at the neck, cuffs and hem glides smoothly over skin. True to the original, we added stripes on the arms.

I'm about 5'7", 175 and the Medium size of this sweater fits me well. In terms of style, this is a great piece that you can wear to work, afterhours, or out in the wild. I would characterize the fabric weight as medium-heavy.
Functionally, I find that this piece works as a solid midlayer underneath a shell down to about 20F or so. You may be able to get away with it at slightly lower temps if you are a really hardy soul.
People in the market for a cheaper, slightly lighter sweater should probably look at the North Face Fairfax. Be aware that piece runs HUGE versus the listed size.

Yes, that is where I found it, and it was also embroidered with the New Belgium Brewery Fat Tire bicycle logo on the sleeve. Sweet snag for only $8! This is my favorite sweater, and like a previous reviewer, I find it to run a full size large. The fabric could not be softer. I would not recommend this as an outdoor sweater unless it is a simple day hike. This is a good sweater for cold nights when you are pub hopping or grilling in the Spring or Autumn.

Favorite sweater,

This is the exact sweater I was looking for (more than a year), 80% lambs wool is soft and warm. The weight is right and layers perfectly. The details of a shaped fit, long enough cuffs, a just right neck line, long torso so no ride up but tailored, machine wash, the kind of quality garment I had given up on finding.
Comfort food you can wear.
The web photo looks thin and baggy- it isn't

Good, but size down!

Look, I'm not a small dude. I'm 6 ft tall and I normally fit medium kinda tight. But as of this year I think Patagonia has decided to make really big people feel good by making sizing all HUGE! A medium fits me like a tent in this. Get a size down! Other than that, this is pretty darn bomber. It's warm and casual without being too "sporty".

Son loves the sweater

I just recently purchased the sweater as a gift for my 21 year old son. He is quite particular about his clothing but loves the sweater. In the 2 weeks that he was home for vacation, he wore it about 6 times. Only problem was that the stitching on the wrist seam gave and needs to be restitched. However, it's great looking, warm and very wearable.

Dingleberries

Really comfortable sweater that looks great. Make sure you have a fuzz buster within an arm's reach, though, as this guy lints up something awful. I've only had it for a few months and hit it before each wear. Maybe this will subside after a spell, but it doesn't detract much from it's overall comfort and warmth.

Heaven for your torso

The wool/nylon blend is completely comfortable and keeps its shape. From the beginning i wasn't worried about getting it wet or what activities i was doing. It was great for running around sand dunes and directly after going to a nice restaurant for dinner and ice cream. Love it more than any sweater, probably ever

I got this in the Triad stripe, navy and other than getting several comments about Freddie Kruger it is very stylish. Fits true to size and is warm and soft. can wear a long sleeve or short sleeve underneath without worrying about itching or being uncomfortable. Would def buy again, in a different color.

A nice basic sweater

This is a fine no frills sweater. I got a small based on others' feedback about the sizing being big, but I feel like I could have gotten a medium (which is my normal size) and it would have been fine. The styling is classic and the fit is cozy warm and comfortable.

A nice classic sweater

This is a nice no frills sweater that's stylish warm and comfortable. I got a small based on other users' reviews saying it fit big, but I think I could have gotten my usual medium and it would have fit fine. If you're looking for a great versatile sweater look no further.

Too Short

The sweater is very soft and fits wells except for the arm length which is too short. I wish patagonia had sizes for long armed men or added the sleeve length to the description.

Runs big

I ordered 5 XL items for my husband. This one was significantly larger than the others. It made him look bigger than he is. Not super flattering.
