Patagonia

When even the thermos of coffee inside your ski pack won't stay warm, it's time for the Merino 4 Bottoms. Our warmest merino layer, Merino 4 provides the best option for cool to very cold weather. Naturally soft and beautiful, it's made with 7.8-oz 100% merino wool that has a dense jersey-knit face for thermal efficiency and resilience and a terry-loop back for next-to-skin comfort. Merino naturally resists odor, moves moisture away from the skin, regulates body temperature, and stretches. Finer points of these bottoms include offset seams and a double-layer self-fabric waistband that's contoured for a superior fit. We slow-wash our merino for next-to-skin softness. Machine-wash cold; lay flat to dry. Recyclable through the Common Threads Recycling Program.

Reviews:

good but could be great

Rating:***
These are an excellent weight, warm with very comfortable weave. Two areas where it could be improved and then would be excellent. One- waistband. I told the store I was concerned about it when I bought it but the good thing about Patagonia, they say try it and if it drives you nuts, you can return. The waistband has narrow elastic that really digs in. Needs to be like Merino 2 or 3 waistband with wider, much more comfortable elastic. This one is 7/8" where as M2&3 is 1 1/8" and this actually makes a huge difference for comfort. Second- I am 5'9" and the small fits perfect in waist & hips but then is too short in legs and a bit in rise. I opted for short rather than big and bunching. Patagonia should have talls available as they strive to be the best- and good fit is a huge part of that.
