Positive Reviews:

cozy all-arounder

Rating:*****
i've been loving all of the wool products, using wool as my base layer almost exclusively these days. it's super comfortable, doesn't stink (don't have to wash it very often), and performs great. hadn't thought of it for more crossover-casual type pieces, which i'd consider this to be. but i'm really psyched on this, as it's unbelievably soft and comfortable as a next-to-skin hoody, but also works with light underlayers (even though the sizing says "regular" it seems pretty slim to me, not room for lots of underlayers; at the same time, it's so stretchy that you could make it work with anything). the fabric still performs great, like all of the wools, if climbing or going for a run, though the style here is more casual. for more high-output climbing, versus, say, rock cragging or going bouldering, i'd go with the R1 hoody instead b/c it has more performance-oriented features. but for a comfy hanging-out sweatshirt that can also perform -- a true crossover piece -- this piece rules.

Rolling Deep in The Hood

Rating:*****
I have become a fan of the Patagonia Wool line since they came out with it and now that they have a hoody (which is my favorite type of clothing) I a super fan. The wool does not irritate my skin which for me used to be a big problem. It feels soft and comfortable even with out a t-shirt or base layer underneath yet the fabric is durable and doesn't snag. I have used it to go hiking up in Colorado and Flagstaff and was able to sweat and still feel warm. Great after a long day in the surf in San Diego to warm up quick. Speaking of warming up--this hoody is perfect for getting a sweat on before a row or kayak. Buy it you'll love it.

Won't Fish Without It

Rating:*****
I've become a huge fan of Patagonia's Merino baselayers, and this is the best garment yet. I had the zip-neck Merino 4, but the hoody is a much more hardcore layer, especially under a windproof/wind resistant shell. The first time I wore it, in late October, we were fishing in an open boat 30 miles east of Nantucket and in heavy seas cracked the alternator off the boat's engine. We had to limp home at idle speed, through an angry and cold North Atlantic with 4-5 ft seas and rain and temps in the 30's... we finally made it home safely 9 1/2 hours later ... The Merino hoody kept me warm the whole time. I won't leave the dock without it, period.

Essential-to-Own Hoody

Rating:*****
Everything the other reviewers have said is true! This is a fantastic piece or clothing. It's soft, warm, dry and comfortable. I wear wool as a base all the time, but Patagonia gets five stars for the details. The pouch for your hands, the crossover base of the hood for your neck and the extra long sleeves for your arms will help keep you toasty warm and looking cool. Not only is it a great piece of gear for outdoors, it's my favorite sweater to wear just relaxing around the house. Get it so you can write an amazing review!

Wool 4 Hoody

Rating:*****
This is the best hoody I've ever owned. I would wear it everyday if I could! It fits snug and is great under a light jacket and is super warm. Awesome piece of gear for when you're standing in one place while the wind is howling and it's raining on you.

excellent!

Rating:*****
Great work on the hood. It fits deeper than it used to but I liked the Wool 4 stich and hem better. But this design is no slouch. The color is great and it feels wonderful. I find excuses to wear this.

the pocket on this jacket frayed and it ripped. I'm normally really happy with products from patagonia but i would not recommend this hoodie.
