Stay Put

I really like these bottoms. They have great coverage all around (front and back) and sit at a comfortable height on the hips (just around my hip bones) so I don't have to worry about exposing anything unseemly :) I was hesitant about the flash pink palm fronds print, but it's very cute (better than the picture).
I haven't actually worn these out yet, so I can't comment on performance, but moving around in my apartment I can tell they'll be much better than the average swim bottom. I was surprised by how much of the quality I could feel in the material having bought mostly cheap, flimsy suits the past few years. You can definitely feel where your money is going. As for sizing, I'm 5'7" 125lbs with hips and wear a size 4 or 6 pants depending on the style. I bought a small and it fits fine but accentuates areas that need a little toning (probably something only I notice) :) Overall though, I would feel completely confident in public with them.

Great functional bottoms that also look good

These bottoms offer good rear coverage and okay front coverage. I own several pair and will buy them again. I am disappointed however that this year's design seem to offer a little less front height, which I admit, I use to hold in a section of my belly flab. :-( If I was flat stomached this would not be an issue. I also have noticed that the elastic in the legs does not last very long ... I put mine through a lot surfing, so maybe that's part of the prob, but I expect these to hold up a little better considering the price and brand.

Patagonia makes the best swimsuits!!!!

I heart patagonia bikinis. I ordered this suit after loving the one I bought in a different print last year. This year I got the ombre bali blue...the print is gorgeous (and the colors hold well even in salt water judging from last year's suit). The bottoms are very flattering in the way they sit across the hips. Also, they are great for people who tend to be more active in a bathing suit. I have a giant butt from cycling, but the suit bottom stayed in place even while running during a game of ultimate frisbee on the beach.

I wear a 7 in juniors and a 4 or 6 in womans depending on the brand. The medium works for me. Haven't had it on in the water yet, and I may regret not getting a small. On the other hand, I wouldn't want it too tight either. I am right in between so it's kinda tough to decide size wise. I do like the sturdiness of the patagonia suits. It doesn't feel like it's going to shift around a lot in the water. Nice thick material.

Fits well. I love Zappos. They have the best customer service ever. If I could buy everything from here, I would. If you are going to get these bottoms, you get from Zappos because if they don't fit then you can return for free and get your other size. The bottoms are very well made, amazing quality and I wear a size 28 in jeans and I ordered the medium and they fit great. Great coverage in the back. Super comfy. Thanks Zappos!

Good coverage

As most other reviews say, this bottom has a good coverage, but is sexy enough. I am 5'8", 132lbs, hips about 36 - I ordered M. The back has good coverage and felt comfortable when I wore in air since I don't like too tight underwear. But when I was swimming in this, I felt nervous that it might be taken off. Probably a bit too big. If your normal panties are between S and M, I suggest to order S.
iTan at Patagonia on 03/06/2013

Runs big.

I'm 5'2" // 120# and typically wear a 4/6. I have large thighs, a lean waste, and an average to large bum. I had to size down from my standard 's' to an 'xs', which fits perfectly. I was worried the rise would be too high...but fits well for my expectations as a 30-something. Also, the rear coverage is good - it doesn't look like a scandalous cheeky suit yet doesn't look to modiste.

Just enough coverage and still cute

I hate bottoms where I feel self-conscious to even take a step for fear my cheeks will fall out. I was nervous to try these on, but was pleasantly surprised. These bottoms give just enough coverage that you feel modest while still feeling cute and stylish. Covers your rear without over-doing it and falling into grandma territory. Got an x-small (5'3", 100 pounds). Love them and my boyfriend gives them 2 thumbs up!

Bikini and Motion

I'm 5'8" and 138lbs. I'm not froo froo and wanted a bikini that allowed me to be active in the water (Lake Michigan waves!) and in a canoe. These stay put- no wedgie and cover my patootie, too! Concerned about durability, though. I bought three pair. Color seems to fade in chlorine. Good thing I don't sit much or the seat might wear thin.
MichiganMiss at Patagonia on 08/27/2012
Love this suit! I paired these bottoms with same print top (with the criss-cross back). It's super cute and the suit is comfy and definitely stays on. I wore it on a surf trip and it stayed firmly in place, even when I got tossed around in big waves. I'm 5'2", 125 and got a size small -- it was true to size.

Negative Reviews:

Two pairs worn out

I love patagonia and use their stuff often. These fit great, look great, feel great, but I've had two pair now that have just fallen apart in the back of the bottoms. Just a month after receiving them, they start to "separate" in the rear part of the bottoms and then are stretched out and see through. The wear was all from surfing/swimming outside--no hot tub or hot water to affect it.

i really wanted to like this suit, but it barely covered my assets, and had to return.

difficult to size

i ordered these bottoms after chatting to two reps online. i gave my height, weight, measurements, etc. first the female rep recommended that i get M. then the male rep recommended that i get a S. i almost always wear S so that's what i got. turns out i probably need a XS! when i put them on, they were sort of borderline ok. but i know that when they get wet they will probably come off. my experience is to get bottoms that are a little too tight so that they'll stay on when they get wet. i'm a surfer and i can't have loose bottoms! i would also like to mention that i like full bottom coverage since i don't like to get a wedgie when i'm on my surf board. ;p these are called "full-seat-coverage" but i feel like they are more "medium-seat-coverage". i'll wait till my XS get here to make a final decision but they may cut up on the sides of the cheeks a little too much for me. i if you like a good regular/medium coverage that covers without looking like grandma bottoms, these are probably good for you! btw, i'm 5'8", 128 lb, usually about a size 4 ish...
shellyb at Patagonia on 04/09/2013

great coverage

So after bombing out on the other cuts Patagonia bottoms, I broke down and ordered this one. Love that it actually has full coverage in the back without being dowdy overall. I had to really size up in this and my top (usually a small/size 4 in Patagonia but had to order a large in both top and bottom - even though the size chart suggests a small for this bottom). I'm 5'4", 130lbs, size 4, 36/28/37.
RachSails at Patagonia on 08/12/2012

Weird sizing

I love the top of this suit but these bottoms fit funny. They are really wide at the top so I got an XS, but they seem to skimpy. So then I got a S but then they are baggy. Maybe I'm just between sizes somehow but they just fit weird.
