Great layer, fit is a little weird

Overall, this is a great layer. I love vests and I like that this one is light, but warm. I originally bought a M (I'm usually a solid medium across the board) but it was too big - too wide through the torso. I returned it and got a small which fits better but is a little short. Even the small seems rather wide in the torso and chest, but I still like it and will keep it. I don't have a particularly long torso and am not particularly thin (5'7", 145), but I would say this would be a great fit for someone who has a shorter torso, and a larger chest. I continue to feel like the fit of Patagonia clothes are a little off. However, I still love the company and the fit isn't off enough to make me stop coming back for more!

Super light, warm and comfortable

Having just purchased the Nano Puff jacket I realized that I loved it so much that I needed to add the Nano Puff Vest to my collection. I was surprised to find the vest gave me the perfect amount of warmth not only on cooler days when I would keep it zipped but even when the temperature got a bit warm I didn't feel too hot because the vest was so light. The vest is great under the jacket for super warmth but yet light enough and roomy enough to add layers underneath. I will never be cold again while camping, hiking and playing in the snow. The Nano Puff is great for travel because it squishes into nothing and is so light I don't worry about it taking up space in my backpack or luggage.

Great active vest

I'm a vest collector - and this is my favorite active piece. It's exactly as advertised: windproof, warm, lightweight. I've worn it running and biking in cool weather and it's great. I like the smooth fabric so I can have it in black without being covered in cat fur all the time. I would add a two-way zipper, and the sizing is definitely big. I normally take a small in Patagonia, but had to get this in an XS, which makes it just a little short-waisted (still a great vest). It could use a redo on the cut to make it just right. Although, the way it is, if you are a bigger chested girl, this would probably work in your regular size.

My hiking is along the asphalt plains of suburbia, but it has been a great layering piece when I've gone to the gym, grocery store, park, and pumpkin patch. Looks and works so much better than the Michelin Man puffy vests. I've had a few small snags resulting from a brush with Velcro, and I wish it were a smidge longer (I'm 5'10" and the medium hits at the top of my hips), but as a whole it moves with me and never rides up. Looking forward to pairing it with some Capilene 2 and 3 pullovers when it gets even colder.

Nano So Nice

I've coveted this vest for awhile, finally got one at price point i could live with. honestly, it's worth full retail. Super light, great warmth-weight ratio, nice flared cut. Blue color is awesome. Sizing runs on big side - i'm 5'9" 125 and med is a bit boxy, tho fits well in shoulders. I'm not convinced that the fabric will hold up climbing (at least in a squeeze chimney...) since it's so light, but i've pretty much worn it every day around town, and will definitely take it backpacking and camping. unless I take the Nano jacket I just bought :)

This is a great little all-round vest. It's lightweight and perfect under a shell to keep your core warm when shushing down the mountain. It looks good enough to wear every day over long sleeves or even short sleeves on warm spring days. And a little side benefit; cat hair doesn't stick to it! I actually prefer the fit of the micro-puff vest also from Patagonia, but Zappos didn't have it and if Zappos doesn't have it, I don't buy it! No one else offers immediate gratification with next day delivery. You've spoiled us Zappos!

Awesome vest

I bought this primaloft vest at a local outfitter's and wear it every day. The best feature, aside from Patagonia's excellent construction and design features, is that it is very lightweight and compresses nicely in a backpack. I liked it so much I ordered another from the website. If I could keep only 10 items of hiking gear, this vest would be one of them. It's well worth the money.

S Magenta awesome!

I bike ride everywhere and look for light clothing that allows my body to breath while keeping me warm. I got the nano puff vest in small. I'm 135 pounds about 5'6; the vest fits great! It is warm yet thin enough that I can wear it under jackets. In addition, I can zip it all the way up on windy days. Love it
Sebastes at Patagonia on 03/05/2012
I have lots of Patagonia items and I'm consistently a size small, but this vest is huge so I'll return (actually ordered direct from Patagonia). I just ordered the xs as Zappos is the only place that has that size, and it should work. Other than the size the vest seems great, love the windproof, lightweight design. Great for active pursuits or around town.

Perfect Nano Puff

This puff vest meets and exceeds all expectations. I purchased it to replace an old worn out one, and it's ever so much better. The fit is sleek, it's whisper light, looks great, and I love the inside zipper pocket. It was meant mainly for travel layering, but will be a frequent fall/winter/spring layer. My daughter immediately picked it out to borrow!

Negative Reviews:

Not to Patagonia standards

I'm 5,7, 130 lbs with a very slim upper body. I ordered this vest in an XS and still found it to be too boxy, too short and frankly too cheap looking and feeling. I also found the colors to be challenging-either too neon or too boring. I would love a vest with a longer fit and more shape as I do use my vests for a ski layer but it seems I use them more for a light out and about piece in our every changing Montana seasons.
kjbtt at Patagonia on 11/05/2011

I wanted to love it but fit is off

I have a M Nanopuff jacket that I love and use all the time (though it is slightly too big). I tried the S and the M in the vest and could not find the correct fit. The S was too small in the armholes and too short. The M was too big to be a useful layering piece. I am usually a M in Patagonia. I sent the vest back and will wait for them to figure out the sizing before considering the vest again.
Gretta at Patagonia on 12/07/2011

Very Poor Fit

Great Idea but not fitted properly. I am a small. Top to bottom was the right length but the width fit like a large. Armpit holes way too big, chest over sized. Too bad. Also I couldn't find anything in the line that was a little heavier weight in a similar construction. We need more product like that. I live in vest country in a moderate climate.
Outdoorwomen at Patagonia on 05/30/2012
Love the whole Nano Puff line, but had to send the vest back after two different sizing attempts. I just didn't like the way the armhole were "shunk" down to make for a tighter fit.
LisaMarie at Patagonia on 07/26/2011

Warning

The mango color is safety orange. Check out the photograph of me with a road crew in La Serna.

Neutral Reviews:

Good vest w/ poor stitiching

I love the fit, the weight, the look. Unfortunately, a few days after purchasing the vest, the stitching (there is a diamond pattern all over the whole thing) rubbed the edge of a table and broke. And then, of course, it began to unravel. In the next few weeks this happened again and again and while I was just going through the mundane activities of daily life. While Patagonia replaced it for me, I do treat my new one with kid gloves. I can't imagine wearing it backpacking, at least not if you want to also then wear it to work.
ABanana at Patagonia on 06/13/2012

Maybe not.

I love the nano puff jacket and pullovers. I was disappointed in the vest. The cut is not really flattering and it is a bit short. The vest only goes to the top of my jeans and lets the cold air up my back. Burrr.
Amie at Patagonia on 04/28/2012
I love the color but it is too big and I don't tend to pick it up and wear it like I wanted too. The medium was about an inch too small and the large is too big.
