Patagonia Women's Nano Puff Vest.
Windproof, warm, lightweight and very compressible, the Nano Puff® Vest is ideal insulation under a shell. Made with 60-g PrimaLoft® ONE insulation, it also doubles as a stand-alone wind barrier in warmer conditions. Chilly mornings in base camp, simulclimbing by headlamp and cragging in the South Platte as snow falls all give the Nano Puff® Vest its raison d'être. Worn as an outer or midlayer, the vest uses PrimaLoft® ONE (60-g) insulation for superb compressibility, featherlight weight and surprising warmth. All of this is wrapped in a windproof and moisture-shedding 100% recycled polyester ripstop shell with a Deluge® DWR (durable water repellent) finish. This season we’ve improved the fit with better shaping through the torso and waist, and added a soft, wicking interior storm flap and zipper garage for chin comfort. We also moved our women’s style into our classic Nano Puff "brick" quilt pattern, added narrow horizontal quilt lines on the side panels, and used a burly thread for enhanced durability. Other fine points include a drawcord hem, two zippered handwarmer pockets and an internal chest pocket (with clip-in loop) which doubles as a stuffsack. Lightweight ripstop recycled polyester shell fabric has a Deluge® DWR finish. Lightweight 60-g PrimaLoft® One insulation provides excellent warmth and compressibility. Brick quilting pattern with narrow horizontal quilt lines on side panels uses durable thread for improved abrasion-resistance. Center-front zipper has wicking interior storm flap and zipper garage at chin for next-to-skin comfort. Two zippered handwarmer pockets have clean finished zipper garages; zippered internal chest pocket doubles as a self-stuff sack with a reinforced carabiner clip-in loop. Drawcord-adjustable drop tail hem seals out wind. Fabric: Shell and Lining: 1.4-oz 22-denier 100% recycled polyester with a Deluge® DWR (durable water repellent) finish. Insulation: 60-g PrimaLoft® ONE 100% polyester. Weight: 210 g (7.4 oz).

SPECIFICATIONS of the Patagonia Women's Nano Puff Vest.

As summer heat starts to wane, outdoor adventures remain plentiful. On its own or under a shell, the Patagonia Women's Nano Puff Insulated Vest provides lightweight, compressible, and windproof insulation for your fall follies. The physical structure of PrimaLoft One insulation mimics the structure of feathers, trapping warm air as it leaves your body and creating a thermal barrier between surrounding cooler air and your body. Likewise, the warmth-to-weight ratio for PrimaLoft One is similar to down in that it offers substantive warmth without substantive weight. However, unlike down, PrimaLoft One only loses 4% of its insulating capacity when wet, which makes this vest an ideal choice when moisture may be factor.

Along the insulation spectrum of Patagonia's puffy vests, the Nano Puff flirts with the low end in terms of warmth. When worn alone, this vest keeps your core toasty during an early October football game or when you're cragging or simply walking between classes as leaves begin to fall. While the Deluge DWR treatment handles light drizzle, you should throw a shell over the Nano Puff vest when nasty storms and winds howl the entrance of cooler days. A zipper garage protects your chin from chafing, and the brick quilting pattern prevents the insulation from settling and creating cold zones on your body. The chest pocket doubles as a self-stuff sack so you can easy store the Puff in your tote bag or daypack.
Looking for the ultra light, ultimately warm and super compressible vest, then look no further the Patagonia Nano Puff Vest has arrived. This women’s vest is the perfect insulation for under the shell or the perfect vest for chilly hikes in the backcountry. The Nano Puff is made with 60-g Primaloft One insulation, the best synthetic insulation and the closest imitation to down available. The ultra light ripstop recycled polyester shell has a Deluge® DWR finish to add a durability factor. Additional features include dual zippered hand warmer pockets, draw cord hem to seal out the wind, and the Nano stuffs into a zippered internal chest pocket for convenient travel. Go all the way and experience the brilliant comfort of Patagonia.

Al's Sports

This is such a nice vest! Best used for leisure wear, layering, snowshoeing/hiking on warmer days..etc.
It's an 'insulated' vest but it's a very light one. (Only 60g insulation)
I have the Blue Butterfly color-- which actually has a hint of purple to it (in certain lighting) I was expecting a more bright blue color, but the occasional purple that comes out is actually pretty nice. The interior is also a bright teal which I love!
The vest has two hand pockets, and one internal chest pocket. The arm holes have a little elasticity to them for a snug fit (but not too snug)
I'm about 5'3''- a little on the petite side and my usual size for shirts/jackets etc. is a size small- which I got in this vest and it's a perfect fit!

I took this vest on a 20-day backpacking trip on the John Muir Trail. It was, by far, my favorite piece. I overheat easily so I hate to start my morning in a jacket because, after 10-15 minutes, I'm a sweat bucket. Not so in this vest, yet it retained heat so well that I wore it whenever it was cold, and under a down jacket when it was freezing. My boyfriend, who has the pullover version (which he loves) was jealous of the vest's breathability when we were hiking in chilly weather. I also appreciate the longer, athletic cut of this piece. I can't wait to test it out backcountry skiing. Thanks, Patagonia, now I want two.

Longer, Leaner, MUCH Better

So I used to not like Patagonia's version of all things synthetic layering, they made their gear for more fishing purists, i.e. short and boxy. I'm 5'9 150 lbs, broad shouldered, long torso, so this didn't exactly work for moi. So I've been going with other brands (that i shall not mention :) BUT while searching online for a new synthetic insulation vest for a mountaineering expedition in the cascades, I saw that they came out with a new style! I went into my lovely denver store and BAM, finally they are doing a longer version, made to fit ME! I went with the medium, as I usually do, and it fits perfectly! Thank you Patagonia!

Excellent, seasonless vest!

I purchased this vest as an alternative to a full down jacket for a trailrunning stage race this past August in the Colorado Rockies, thinking worst case I could use it as a pillow if I needed something heavier. Lo and behold, it was the most used piece of my gear. Light enough to wear over a tee or L/S in camp, and warm enough for bundling by the fire at night it was PERFECT. Its now in my travel bag in Europe for chilly airport lounges! Love the color, and the packability. Sizing runs a little long in the torso but the body is true to size.

love this vest

I cannot recommend this vest enough. It gets the job done on a chilly Austin, Texas day/evening, layers under my jackets, I can wear it to dinner or to the farmer's market, everything and everywhere- I even wear it running. I am 5'2" and about 120 with an athletic build, the xs fits perfectly over running tights or jeans. I like that it is fitted and not boxy. It is slimming and fits really well in the armhole, shoulder area- which is often hard for petites. So sold that I am contemplating the nano jacket next.

Totally Useful

Just bought my second nano vest. I find them so versatile I anticipate buying more in other colors. I keep one in my daypack for hiking, but I also wear them with casual clothes when the weather is cool to cold, but not frigid. The colors are great, they're light and warm, and they roll up into their own pouch and take up no space at all, great for travel. Just be careful of the surface-it doesn't resist pulling and abrading very well, so keep it away from rock faces and cactus spines.

Best item in my closet.

I'm addicted to this vest. It's warm enough outdoors, cool enough to leave on indoors. Soft and silky for when my little one falls asleep on my chest. Fitted and flattering, but forgiving enough to hide the last of the baby weight. Thin enough to layer & thick to keep me plenty warm into the mid 30's. I put it on when I wake up & take it off to put on my pjs. Lovelovelove it.

try and pry this vest from my cold dead hands

You know how some kids carry around their blankets, never wanting to part ways? That's what this little number does for me. Its my woobie, my blankie, my comforting piece of everyday wear. Even though I haven't had the guts to let it go for washing, I know I will cry for the full 2 hours we are apart. It's the perfect fit, the perfect color and the perfect weight. I love you nano puff.

Nice light vest

I really like the patch work (stitching design) on the vest, it looks really nice. It's light weight. Fits slightly big, i am usually a small or medium but this medium was much too big. You want a nice snug fit for a puffy vest.
Jodirun at Patagonia on 02/03/2014

Good stuff!

So much warmth in such a light package! Hard to believe it keeps me as warm as it does. Makes a great extra layer and adds no bulk. I have a Nanopuff jacket that has worn like iron, so I have high expectations for this.

Negative Reviews:

Too short...

I love Patagonia clothing (for myself and my kids) and was very excited to get this vest but when I tried it on, it was very short. The Nano Puff family all seem to be shorter than ever, taking away from the versatility and function of this product. I'm 5'5", 130lbs and the size small (my normal size) was cropped on me. The medium offered a little more length (nominal) but then did not fit elsewhere. I LOVE the feel of this line but hope Patagonia will add a little more length to the Nano vest!
