Big Hit on Campus ( Middle School)
The quality is excellent and it scored stlye points as well. I was concerned that the light color would show dirt but it is very resilient. The first day of wearing was also the first day of riding a new mountain bike and the big brown stripe up the back washed out easily. The full zip allows for good ventilation- which is needed since this can also be a really warm jacket when required.
Good stuff
I bought this for my 6 yr old son after learning how exceptionally warm and comfortable the RetroX is firsthand. My son has never complained about being cold. And, this jacket is so durable I know that even my wildchild isn't likely to thrash it before he grows out of it. Worth every penny, especially if you have other kids you can hand it down to (it will last!).
Toasty
My 7 year old daughter loves this jacket. It really keeps her warm. I have no trouble getting her to put it on before heading off to school on cold mornings, but some trouble getting her to take it off - she wears it all of the time! Its very warm, and the wind barrier is very effective. I'd great stand alone, or with a shell when skiing.
Wooly Grandkid
I can't really tell ya how good it is, but my granddaughter loves to wear it. It's wooly, warm, and she loves the "pocket" which reminds her of Dora the Explorer. On the functional side: it's easy to clean and apperars to be able to take the abuse of an active kid. I'm planning on her little brother inheriting the coat in a couple of years.

I bought this for my ten year old daughter and this is what she had to say: What I like about the jacket is that its not only windproof but it keeps you so warm, I just wear a sweatshirt under it and I'm perfectly warm on a windy day. It fits perfect. I LOVE IT!

My Grandson, age 4, wants nothing more than to be just like his Dad. The Kids Retro-X jacket is a little kid's version of a grown-up, adult jacket. He was thrilled to receive one for Christmas.
Negative Reviews:
Rethink fabric
While I believe in recycling, the fabric used in this jacket is unpleasant to touch. It does not have a good "hand." Think of wrapping your young one in thick wax paper -- repellent and stiff. I am a huge Patagonia fan, especially for small children, so I was surprised this passed their tests. Maybe older children would find it acceptable. (I bought for a 2.5 yr-old, but will send it back. Her mother refused it, and I readily agreed.)
