Patagonia Rio Gallegos Waders-Regular -

The Rio Gallegos Waders are the toughest, most puncture-resistant waterproof/breathable wader on the planet. They combine the finest level of durability while offering a new level of comfort and convenience. In other words, the ultimate fly fishing waders. Our newest version of the Rio Gallegos is built with strategically placed weights of an even tougher, more breathable 4-layer H2No Performance Standard polyester microfiber fabric package and SSC (single seam construction) for greater durability and freedom of movement. The result? Max longevity and flexibility without resorting to excessive, heavy, sweat-trapping layers. Our revolutionary merino wool grid lined neoprene booties wick perspiration and create guilt-inducing levels of foot comfort. The 3mm neoprene maintains the warmth of 5mm neoprene but with better wicking. Our innovative internal suspension system allows easy conversion to waist height and – this is critical – quick relief without having to remove your jacket. Upper exterior glued-in, water-repellent zip pocket at chest provides ample storage for quick access to tippets, nippers and lip balm. An interior, clear-welded TPU pocket provides waterproof security for cell phone, camera and keys. More features: sculpted upper for reduced drag in heavy currents, anatomically curved knees with removable knee pads, built-in fabric gravel guards with abrasion-resistant scuff zones and high-filtration mesh drain strip, a quick-release DuraFlex Stealth-V buckle for an adjustable fit and, to avoid line catch, concealed stainless-steel locking boot hooks. Exterior reinforcement tape on interior leg and crotch provides unsurpassed abrasion resistance where it’s needed most. Field repair kit included.

Fit:

  • Interior welded TPU-waterproof zippered pocket keeps valuables dry and secure; chest handwarmer pockets with water-resistant zippers allow quick access to tippet spools, nippers and floatant; Stretch Wading Belt with a quick release DuraFlex® Stealth-V buckle for smooth on/off and easy-to-adjust fit

Fabric:

  • Polyester microfiber H2No Performance Standard shell with a proprietary waterproof/breathable barrier and NanoSphere DWR (durable water repellent) finish that's highly durable and puncture resistant without excessive multiple layers or added weight; exterior reinforcements on inseams for superior abrasion resistance
  • Anatomically designed left and right booties with abrasion-resistant soles; 3mm neoprene booties are lined with patent-pending merino wool grid, providing the same warmth and better breathability than 5mm neoprene
  • Innovative SSC (single seam construction) seaming completely eliminates seams from the highest wear point on the inside of leg; only one seam up the back of leg is exposed for less abrasion and greater durability for wader

Insulation:

  • Waist-mounted EZ-Lock suspenders allow easy conversion from chest to waist height for quick relief without having to remove jacket; TPU slide-and-lock design on front and back of suspenders offers security when wading deep and for roll-down, waist high comfort

Comfort:

  • Full elastic back provides all-day comfort

Manufactured:

  • Made in China.

Features:

  • Laser-cut Hypalon utility keeper allows easy access to tools, nippers, etc.; field repair kit included

not accurate size chart

Waders quality is excellent, perhaps the best I’ve ever tried.
However, the size chart is not good enough. If you choose your wader size based in the website size chart you'll be surprised. The waders are much wider than expected.
Also the neoprene booties are too wide in the heel area making a challenge to put them in the right way inside the wading boots.
Please have a look at the picture for comparison with the Simms G3.
I'm 5' 8" and 155 pounds, normal proportions, shoe size 9, so after looking at the size chart I decided to go for the Medium Regular. The height is fine, but the width of the wader is way too much.
On the other hand, they're very comfortable (much more than the Simms G3 guide), and the merino inside the booties make a big difference in cold weather. The Simms has the edge on neoprene booties fitting though.
The waterproof inside pocket and the zippered hand warmer pocket are a nice welcome but to be honest I prefer the Simms G3 design on this regard.
I’d prefer to have a smaller TPU waterproof inside pocket on a side, and a utility large inside zippered pocket in the front, similar to the Simms, and then I’d change the utility keeper for a top zippered outside pocket on top of the hand warmer. That would be great!
The EZ lock is by far the best suspender system, lot of comfort and flexibility. I also like the Stretch Wading Belt and the reinforced gravel guards.
A great product that could be even better, that's why I give a 4 stars rating.

A Durable Workhorse!

These are great workhorse waders. They are durable. I have over 200 days in mine and they are still going strong. I spend quite a bit of my fishing hiking and wading and the dual thickness fabrics put the beefy stuff right where it is needed. Niceties like the Marino wool lined booties and padded knees are much appreciated. The Marino wool really ups the bar on overall foot happiness. I also fish a lot in the winter and the relaxed cut works well for layering underneath the wader.

A steelhead fishermans other best friend!

I got what I expected when breaking in my new Rio Gallagos waders. I can only say the seams and attention to a fishers needs are all bells and whistles here. Comfort with Patagonia quality at every stich and seam. The booty is also the most true to fit I have ever worn. I am very happy with my new Rio Gallagos waders. In the field the truth speaks loud and clear. The truth is these waders are the best in the industry hands down.

Swimming

Theres are great waders except the sizing is way off. Im 6'3 210 and active outdoors men. I ordered the large regular and Im swimming in them I could almost fit another person in the top of these. If i went smaller the shoe size was to small. I would try them on somewhere before buying them. There not made for the normal athletic outdoors men.

Wading gear

I have both the new Rio Gallegos Waders and the Rock Grip boots with aluminum bars. I love them both especially the boots which are the lightest, most grippy boots I've ever worn. If you fish big western rivers swinging for steelhead, you must try these boots! I can run through boulders fields with just a toe hold and NO SLIPPAGE!
Really, really, really fantastic! No bull.

Great Waders

I've used these waders all over the place now; from Henry's Fork in Idaho, to Trimble Creek in British Columbia, and even surf fishing in San Diego. These waders are excellent quality and very comfortable. The only possible improvement is offering a more comfortable harness similar to the Simms G4, although that may add unwanted weight. Absolutely bombproof material though.

Don't fit

This is my first ever pair of waders and I was so excited. I have researched a lot and decided to buy the rio gallegos. I've checked size chart before I bought but they don't fit at all. They are too big for me, still wearable though.
I'm very satisfied with the quality and they are very comfortable but just the size is the problem.
