Squeaky Clean Rocks

I’ve never been a big fan of boxy polo shirts; the standard uniform of portly business execs, golfers, and yuppies. The Patagonia SSSC Polo is a different animal. This anti-polo shirt is fitted, sleek and has a retro (large style) collar and small v-neck opening – perfect for the athlete that needs to look presentable at select times. The organic cotton is really comfortable and has decent durability. I’ve redpointed 5.13 in this shirt and tossed this on to help ease the dirt bag factor when going into town, doing errands, my kid’s school functions, and dinner out with the in-laws. Highly recommended!

Comfortable but requires maintenance

Like most of Patagonia's shirts, this shirt is super comfortable. I really like the way the cloth feels against my skin. Having said that, I think that the polo shirt requires a little more attention than it should to keep it looking "squeaky clean." It seems to wrinkle quite a bit, making me look messy within an hour of wearing. Also, the collar is poorly cut - making me look like an extra from Saturday Night Fever. So, trim down the collar and minimize the wrinkles and this will be a great shirt.

Clean, simple, and beautiful

I love these shirts for work because they are so classically understated and can fit into a huge variety of situations(casual or more formal). No matter what, you will always look nice. In fact, as with all Patagonia products, they make you look nice but without drawing too much attention to the garments or to you. The collar is also very unique and adds a little bit of flair to the shirt. Once you wear Patagonia's organic cotton, in any form, it is extremely difficult to go back to wearing anything else!

Size Change

2010 spring sizing has changed. shirt is identical to 2009 except is now categorized as a regular fit as opposed to the slim fit. In past i have always nicely fitted into a Small in regular fit and a Medium in Slim fit. To Patagonia....no problem if you change your sizing but please write a brief note under description....will save me returning items and you having to figure out what to do with them. Same likely goes for '3 Trees Shirt' and 'El Ray' (although i haven't confirmed).

Sized Larger for 2012

I absolutely love and practically live in Squeaky Cleans. I also have a habit of buying almost every style each year when they release (not this year though - many 2012's are on the garish-soon-to-look-really-dated side of Patagonia's style spectrum). With that, fair warning for lovers of this shirt like me: 2012s' are sized larger than previous years. I would say the length of the shirt (size medium) has been extended about an inch from last year, along with an increased roominess in the width.
Drax at Patagonia on 04/28/2012

I wear small, but some small polos are way too tight. This one is snug but feels like it actually fits me right--I'm pretty normal-sized. I hate baggy golf-polo sleeves, but hate short ones that hug your armpits--again, this shirt is a happy medium. Feels well made and versatile--only wish I had it in the blue they ran out of! (black and white stripe is the one I've got).

Brad Norcross at Backcountry.com on 08/04/2012

Soft, slightly slim

This one is a bit slimmer than the M's Polo. I ordered the same size (M and I am 6'1", 175 lbs) and the body is closer to my sides, however the sleeves are the same. I ordered the Fathom: Deep Space color and it is an orangish-red with black stripes, but it isn't neon or too bright. It feels like the perfect summer polo.

Improved fit and style

Strikes a great balance between casual and slightly dressy. I have a couple of these polos from years past and the opening at the collar, as well as the overall fit of the shirt, have recently been improved. I am a pretty tall, skinny guy and this shirt fits me much better than Patagonia's standard polo shirt, which was a boxier fit.

Looks can be deceiving...

The picture looked like a rugged rugby type shirt, however it is soft to the touch and it feels great. I am usually a medium and that is what I bought. I could probably wear the large though but I aint sending this back. I am 5'9" 160 and wear a 52 Euro size jacket (for comparison purposes).

Amazonian living

I do live in French Guiana, north border of Brasil. I brought several gears from Patagonia, 2 Polos, a capilene tee-shirt, a surf-"lycra" and a travel bag. Polos and capilene tee-shirts do well acomodate with the local climate (hot 28° celcius and moist 90%). surf"lycra" is thin and confortable, and it protects well against sun agression.

Negative Reviews:

Shrinkage

The first few times I wore it I loved it but each time I washed it, it kept getting shorter and shorter. My mother used to put belly shirts on me when I was younger but I am not thrilled about them anymore.
The width stayed the same but the length shortened by at least two inches. So now what started off as one of my favorite shirts sits in the closet. Maybe I'll eBay it?

Neutral Reviews:

Marco!" "Polo?

Most seem to disagree, but I do not refer to this as a "Polo shirt." Just like Champagne is not Champagne unless it is from Champagne; a Polo shirt is not a Polo shirt unless it can be worn appropriately playing Polo. Aside from the rant, the placket and collar combination on this shirt looks totally strange (not to mention the pocket size can't even hold my wallet/phone/pen/id). As a result, wearing this shirt under my Merino V-neck or Crewneck sweater looks completely werid. Taking something classic, like a polo shirt, and altering the most important feature is risky. I would be surprised if people keep wearing this shirt for years to come. Remember all those extra large collars from the seventies...I don't see those coming back anytime soon either. Traditional appeal for a polo should remain constant. Fabric, fit and feel are the only needed design elements to discuss. "Proper Polos or Bust!"

Too tight around chest

Seems smaller around the chest than most other Patagonia polo shirts.
