SunShade Shirt, Long Sleeve
I bought this to protect my arms in sunny weather and to find a shirt that I could use in hot, humid, weather, and was hoping that the "V" collar would be more comfortable around my neck. Very comfortable shirt, seems to wick well, and is comfortable to wear in hot weather as it breathes well. Wore it out on runs mid day, and group PT sessions to see what it would feel like when it got wet. Did not stick to me and dried fairly quickly. Washed it and just draped it to see how long it would take to dry. The Patagonia AirFlow shirt by far is the fastest drying shirt but this shirt was completely dry a few hours later, alot faster than the ForeRunner 1/4 Zip , that thing gets wet and stays soggy wet. Wish the Air flow shirt had a "V" collar like this shirt so as it did not hit your throat as it starts to ride down your back. Sleeve length: I have to roll the cuffs back twice in order to fit my arm length. Would appreciate Patagonia offering sleeve lengths within their (S,M.L, XL, etc.) sizes. Sizing (other than sleeves) runs true to fit, I wear a large in most things and this shirt was no exception. Overall Patagonia delivered on this item. I would recommend someone buying it.
Almost Perfect Casual/Relaxing Wear
I have a fondness for technical fabric clothes. I have two of these, and I have been wearing them for about 6 months now. Theses are my go-to casual wear when I am not in a button-down shirt or some specialize running top. They are almost perfect. They are very soft and comfortable. The only problems I have with them is that some of the stitching seems to bunch-up in the wash over time (see pictures). No holes (yet), but lines across the fabric, and sometimes little bunched up threads that needs to be cut off or else they keep pulling out more threads. It is a common problem with similar fabric clothes from other brands as well. The other ones have gone on to last years, and I am hoping these will as well. Would I recommend them? Yes. I am getting a third one for myself.
I am often required to wear long sleeves for my work outdoors, in a range of hot environments. This piece actually helps keep me cool, evaporates sweat off extremely quickly keeping me dry, and keeps me from burning. It is also comfortable to wear under kit or with a pack on. And when the sun goes down and temps drop, this keeps me warm while active. always bring this piece with me on any trip during the warm months.
I bought this for Rocky Mountain summer fishing and rafting trips. Turns out my first opportunity to wear it was a hike into the alpine with sun reflecting off the snow. While my gender demands I not focus on such things, it felt great on my skin--and lived up to all the technical promises. I'm looking forward to seeing how it wears but after decades as a Patagoniac I have little concern on that front.
Patagonia sunshade shirt
The price kinda scared me, but with the rays from the sun, doing the damage it can do and has done to my skin, it was worth a try. I wore this shirt outside all day in the heat and bareing sun and if there is any breeze, it will go right thru to cool you down.Very light and comfortable to wear. I am ordering 2 more, I like them so well.
Shade for the Sun
Prepping for a recent Bimini bonefish trip, I purchased a few different long sleeve fishing shirts. This one was definitely the favored. It kept me cool all day and dried quickly. A quick wash in the sink, hang dry and it was ready to wear again. The medium fit true to size and Alpine Mist looked great with the Bimini backdrop. A must have for the weekend warrior or world traveler!
Very good shirt for sun protection, fit is bang on. Downside is odor retention, shirt needs to be washed after every use, as opposed to an Island Hopper shirt which you could wear for a few days. Sunshade shirt not recommended for bush whacking missions as you will destroy it. It is best suited for hot days on the drifboat or the flats skiff.
More than just shade
I found my new favorite fitness shirt. I now have four sunshade shirts in four really great colors. These shirts are very breathable, exercise moisture passes through quickly leaving me consistently dry even in mid 80's heat of the Hawiian tropics. They are so soft and comfortable they even work well as a sleep shirt this Fall. Very pleased with this item.
The hot, humid and often still summer days on the flats and in the creeks of NE Florida require apparel that is capable of turning back the rays and keeping me dry and comfortable. The Sunshade Shirt is definitely up to the challenge. It is by far the best fishing shirt that I have ever worn.
Works, fits and feels great. I primarily use it for fly fishing spring creeks here at home and on open water when I get the chance. Works just as well for just kicking around. Would love some more colors - a green or camo style for stalking gin clear spring creeks would be awesome.
