Perfect Layering Piece and Classy!

I currently own three synchilla vests. One in red, gray, and olive. These vests are my go to mid layer coupled with a capiliene base all deliciously layered under a wading jacket while fishing in my home state of Montana. You might ask yourself, "Why only 4 stars"? Well, I truly enjoy a cinch toggle on the bottom of all my vests. This is the only improvement that could be made to suite my taste. However, this vest has performed flawlessly under shells and waders and any other high output activity. It also serves as a great companion to dress shirts at the office. I am pretty sure I wear one of these vests every day during fall, winter, and spring. The kids I teach probably think that I am dirtbagging it up or that I am the teacher that always wears a vest. Oh well! I would not hesitate to recommend this product to a person despite the lack of toggle cord. Also, I own all larges and am 5'10" around 190 with a 45 in chest. Fits perfect!

Simply the Best

My connection with Patagonia products began some 15 years ago and believe it or not I still have most of the items. Maybe a bit worn but never the less the best money can buy. In all those years I have spent a fair amount of money with this company as we all know their products are not cheap, but they actually go beyond the best quality one can find. I have owned many of their products and they have all served me well. In these times, when every one is looking to shave off some quality in an effort to cut corners and save on production costs , Patagonia
has held the line, because that's what they are all about.Holding the line and producing a quality product THAT WORKS under the most extreme conditions

Practical warmth

This is a really nice, soft, great fitting vest that provides you with quick core warmth. It's also versatile as you may wear it by itself, over a lighter Synchilla or Capilene, and or under a jacket. It is a smart piece to have on chilly mornings as you wait for the french press to do its job or the percolator to brew. The zippered hand warming pockets are very useful and good for storing small things. You may want to try a size larger than what you regularly wear if you like a bit more room and plan to wear it often, as I do, over the Pima or the Highball Snap Shirt.

Great Purchase

This is my first Patagonia purchase I'd every made and I'm very pleased with it. So pleased I took the time to write a review which I never do. I ordered the black version of the vest in Medium (I'm 6'2" and 160 lbs, I'm a slim guy). I'm a college student in Nebraska and this vest will be great over a OCBD during the fall or spring. The quality is top notch and fit is very good. I was also very pleased to see that it was made in U.S.A. I can see why Patagonia has such a loyal following and I'm proud to be a new follower.

Old Standby

My old synchilla vest from 8 years ago was still in good shape until it dissapeared on a trip- this updated one seems to have the same qualities I loved about the old one. Extremely durable, great fit (I am 5'10 and a medium is a perfect snug fit over a button down or a base layer- I would recommend sizing up to wear over a sweater or more layers) and moderate warmth is great around town or as a layering piece while on the hill. You really can't go wrong unless you are looking for a technical vest with more bells and whistles.

Great Vest

Bought this vest a few years ago. My most worn Patagonia item besides the R4 jacket. Great for layering, easy to wash, and great looking vest for the town/work. I wear it almost every day at the office during the colder months. My office even had these vests monogrammed as a deal closing gift for clients and employees, which looks very sharp, and everyone loved them. I have both a medium and a large and each fit, as I'm kind of in between sizes. (5'10, 175lb.) Overall great buy.

Awesome Piece

This is a beautiful vest. The Orbit Blue is actually a little brighter than it appears in the photo and I think it looks great. At first I was concerned because it doesn't have a cinch cord, but the elastic at the bottom keeps it snug enough for casual to moderate outdoor pursuits. I'm 5'7 and about 135 and the small fits me perfectly. Some other Patagonia Regular Fit fleeces I've found too roomy, but this vest is not. I can see myself never wanting to take this off...

The Classic

This is the classic fleece vest for casual wear. If you are looking for something for serious technical wear, than you'll probably want the R2 vest or something comparable. But if you just want to stay warm and not break the bank, the Synchilla Vest is the one. No-frills, understated styling and the great Patagonia lifetime guarantee to back it up. And during Patagonia's sales, this baby gets marked down to $35. A throw-away fleece vest from Target isn't that much less. This one will last a long time.

Ordered one of these on sale from the Patagucci website. Turns out it is my go-to vest. Not fancy, no windblocking, but jeez its durable, the zipper still works 2 years later, and its not pilling after intensive wear. Insulates great for all my outdoor activities, but the bold colors work to throw on top of a nice shirt for a cold day at the office. I'm 6'2 185 and lanky - i wear a medium that fits perfectly.

One of the best garments ever created

If there is such thing as the perfect piece of clothing, this is it. I bought one for myself, I love it, now my son has one and he loves it. It goes through three seasons, the colors are so rich and beautiful. I have a plum color and my son a deep stone blue color. A great piece to layer many different way, and unbelievably comfortable.

Neutral Reviews:

I read the other reviews and ordered down a size for my husband from an XL to a L. Big mistake. It looked ridiculous. Sending back and maybe ordering XL. But looks like a great vest.
