Awesome vest - practical on so many levels

I absolutely love this vest. My first was size 18 mo. and my oldest wore it forever. She is now four and her little sister is wearing it for the second winter. 4 winters' wear out of this one item, and it is still in great shape after being washed umpteen times. The older one has two in size 3t and the younger one has a total of three. They do run big so my 4 year old, 39 inches, will still be wearing the 3Ts this year with plenty of room inside.
They were great when she started preschool because I didn't want to send a cardigan to school as an extra layer - the cuffs are bulking and they'd always get wet or dirty and cardigans just don't hold up in the wash. Absolutely every kind of food or preschool goop has washed out of these vests. In addition, its easy for them to put on themselves, as opposed to a cardigan.
One year, (Size 2T year) I bought some fleece vests from lands end or llbean and the design was terrible because the pointy collars would stand up and poke the kids in the neck, even if you didn't zip them all the way up and when they were eating they'd always get food on the collars. Eat a cupcake, get frosting on your mouth, look over at your friend to the side - that frosting gets all over the collar. These collars taper down to nothing and therefore no poking. When zipped completely up, you have no buried chin (the younger one would always be drooling or sucking on the competitors collars) Also, the metal zippers on these eventually gave out in the wash.
Finally these are slightly longer in back, another smart design feature, especially if your child no longer wears shirts that snap - its a little extra draft protection.

wears everyday but seam frays & catches in zipper

I love this vest. My son wears it everyday. The only problem with it is that the seam on the fabric beside the zipper frays and often gets caught in the zipper--a frustrating thing for a parent in a hurry or a toddler just learning how to zip. We have the same problem with the synchilla jackets we have from Patagonia. Haven't returned them because they work well enough and I havent seen anything better on the market.

great

this is a great vest. keeps my son very warm. having just purchased it this winter, i dont know how it will hold up but other reviewers seem pretty satisfied. i did want to mention that my son is 19 months but only 25 lbs, so i had to get the 12 mo size and im sure it will fit him next year as well. the baby things tend to run large.

Excellent purchase

Patagonia's Synchilla fleece is even better for kids than it is for grownups. Very soft and cozy, warm for its weight and a great layering piece. 15 years ago, I bought my first Synchilla fleece Snap-T pullover and it's still in great shape today. This vest will definitely find a second life as my nephew outgrows it due to the durability you find in all Patagonia products.

I absoutely love this vest. This is my daughters third and she is only four. As with most patagonia products this vest washes nicely and the first one we bought is now with its 4th child. These do run a bit big...so don't buy a larger size if you would like it to fit now.

Best vest out there

I have been getting this vest for my toddlers since last year... They run small tho, I bought the 3T for my almost 2 yr old and it fit just right, so I'd size up. It's very soft and cut wider than the kids vest. The animal prints are very cute too!

these are great

I have bought several of these vests and embroidered animals on them for new babies. They are a big hit . Would love to see more in plain colors.

Essential Kid Clothing

This fleece vest is a must have for your kid's wardrobe. My 2-year old girl has been wearing since she was 9 months. Great gift, too!
