This one's for the big jobs: hoisting heavy work pants, resisting migration under a hip belt and most importantly, keeping everything in place during spontaneous air-guitar routines. The belt's aluminum buckle is lightweight and strong, and cinches tight for a reliable hitch; it's also handy as a bottle opener at the end of a hot day. The 1½" nylon webbing endures abuse and dries quickly.

The burly Patagonia Tech Web Belt won't break down in the backcountry, leaving you looking for a new way to hold your pants up. Patagonia made the one-size-fits-all Tech Web Belt from 1.5-inch webbing and a lightweight, strong aluminum buckle. Best web belt out there

Rating:*****

This is the only belt of it's kind that I have used that actually STAYS PUT. The buckle is super light and looks great. The 1.5 inch width is also good for a big guy like me (6'2" / 250 lb). Others look too skinny & girly by comparison. Simple, stylish, works as advertised. My other web belts are going to the thrift store.

NOTE ON LENGTH: I have a 38" waist and the length is just about right (enough to tuck the loose end thru a belt loop). If you are 40" or more, this belt may be a bit too short for you.

NOTE ON COLOR: I ordered the Blue-Black and the Bitter Chocolate. The BB is as expected, a very dark navy. The BC color is kind of an odd color, and actually could be called "Purple Rain" in some light.

Sweet belt

Rating:*****
I love this belt and wear it almost every day that requires a belt. My only complaint/request is that they make one in a leather brown color with a brass/gold buckle, similar to one of the O-web options. Otherwise, the most used Patagonia item I own. From everyday use to snowboarding. I even wear it with my suit to formal occasions and get compliments on it. For some reason the nylon blends really well with a nice (black) wool suit and the silver really stands out. The bottle opener gets its fair share of use at parties and such. Either I'm doing it wrong or they need to redesign the opener where you can use it without undoing your pants. That gets some funny looks occasionally.

Great belt does its job!

Rating:*****
I really wanted a more rounded buckle and initially did not buy this belt for that reason. But when I finally broke down and got the belt, I was very pleasantly surprised. This belt is excellent. It looks great but more importantly, it will hold up any manner of pants, shorts or equipment comfortably and efficently. It is excellent with shorts, jeans, or work pants and will easily support any belt tools you feel are needed from a Leatherman Wave to an oversized smart phone. Once set, it does not slip. I am not nearly as thin as I once was, yet this belt really does its job. I liked my first belt so much, I ordered a second one in a different color.

A forever belt

Rating:****
This is a great belt. I am a medium framed woman, and when I first got the belt it looked bad with the bulky buckle sticking out, so I passed the belt on to my husband who used it for a while and then said he didn't like the color (baby blue). BUT when he gave it back, it had softened up and looked much better. I like the big buckle now that it sits flatter and the wider strap and plan to get another. Maybe next year there will be some patterns? I really like the solid color though. Four out of 5 stars because of the break-in period.

Great belt

Rating:*****

I have 3 of them in various colors.. Very simply the best web belt on the market. Far superior to the military's version I wore in the Marines.

If you want to size it yourself, a small hand held propane torch and a sharp knife is the best way..

Heat the knife until glowing with the torch, and it will melt and cut the belt to length.

You can use a piece of masking tape to mark the spot and to make sure you get a square cut if you like. But the weave of the belt makes this simple.

Solid

Rating:*****

Keeps your pants up and opens a beer in a pinch (already had to use). What more do you want? Perfect width, infinite sizing (handy after too much pizza and sierra nevada), cut to length.

Update: I was actually at a wedding in Vail and forgot a more formal, leather-type belt and had to wear this one. I have brown, so it didn't stand out, looked fine and I actually got some complements. Could have been some sarcasm, but I was in Vail, so at least I got points for being different. I definitely wear this thing to work.

The only belt you'll ever need

Rating:*****
I bought one of these belts about two years ago, and I will never buy another. Not because I don't like it, I LOVE it, but I don't think it will ever wear out. I wear it everyday, and it is still in great shape. It is super durable, dosn't slip, and can open a beer bottle to boot! I have the black version and I wear this belt climbing, skiing, on my khakis at work, and even once with a black suit to a wedding! You can't go wrong with this belt!

Great Alternative to Leather

Rating:*****
They've changed the colors and names so I'll give the straight-up color that describes it best. I got the dark green and liked it so much, I bought the lighter shade of green (grey green was the old name, although it's more green than grey). I liked that so much, I bought the natural (whitish tan) belt that has the round buckle for a little variation. I'm planning on being in the tropics a good amount of time and leather doesn't do well in that environment. Sturdy and good looking belt.

Brilliant Web Belt

Rating:*****
Stupendous design & functionality for everyday use & uber belt pleasure! Finally after decades of poorly conceived web belts that take a Houdini to undo or dig into your waist, Patagonia has delivered. The Silver forged aluminum buckle is amazingly cool, lightweight and substantial making it the ideal buckle. The 1.5" width is another feature that equals my other favorite casual/semi belts. I now have Two! Keep the Silver color! Man, I love that Buckle & you do have to undo the belt to utilize the bottle opener so watch out.

A great belt - simple, rugged, and strong

Rating:****
Overall the belt is visually appealing yet remarkably simplistic. It goes with everything from hiking shorts/pant to jeans. The buckle is built like a carabiner and the belt is heavy duty, but just the right width. It is easy to size properly by simply cutting and singeing the fresh edge. My only complaint is that due to the thickness and rigidity of the belt material and partially because the buckle is a flat design, the buckle sticks out a bit farther than normal when worn. Overall, a great purchase.

Negative Reviews:

Too much of a good thing

Rating:*
Although the tech web belt is very strong and durable, it is probably more than is needed. If the true intent is to hold up your pants or hang gear from it, it sacrifices comfort for strenght. It doesn't need to be a harness.
Anonymous at Patagonia on 09/09/2008

A bit bulky

Rating:*
The buckle is a bit bulky for what it does. I would have liked to have it smaller or thinned, lighter. Tried using the buckle as an opener like it claimed and trust me, it did not work. My pants got wet!
1design23 at Patagonia on 09/09/2008

big Buckle

Rating:**
Hard to tell the size of the buckle from the pic, and it is pretty darn big. I thought the belt was slimmer and less flashy, feels a little bling bling which is fine, just unexpected.

Maybe not so great for women

Rating:***
I bought this belt because the tech web belt just doesn't do that great a job of holding my pants up and I was wanting a bit more friction. As other reviewers have pointed out, the buckle size is hard to determine from the picture. I was expecting something like the tech web and was disappointed that the buckle was so large, so I returned the belt. I think it probably works great for guys, but it was too much for me and my pants.

Looks Great

Rating:***
This is a belt so there isn't a lot to say. The belt is cut to be long enough so that it can fit all sizes but if you cut is yourself to fit you you have to seal up the ends and I don't know of any good ways that won't ruin my stove, iron, fingers, etc. Just keep that in mind. It also loosens quite frequently. Just keep that in mind. Cool belt though. Looks great.
nwegener at Patagonia on 09/12/2008

Good belt but a little short.

Rating:***
Sad to say, I gained a few pounds over the holidays and now am a beefy size 36 waist. So I bought, this belt, thinking it would be plenty long and I might have to cut it down based upon the images provided. It just fits with three inches after the buckle. I wish it was a tad bit longer, but other than this, the belt is a very versatile and heavy duty piece for your wardrobe.

Tech web belt

Rating:***
nice belt but this years belt Is 3 inches shorter than last years belt. So I sent it back. If it's too big for someone, it's easy to cut it down but if it's not long enough there's nothing you can do. I wear a 36-38 waist in my jeans, so I didn't think I'm that big for a one size fits all. Hope next year the will go back to the original size.
BillP at Patagonia on 11/15/2008

"Does its job and looks good doing it."

Rating:***
The belt itself is kind of long, but it is an easy fix with scissors and a lighter. Buckle is on the bulky side. Friction hold is amazing. Overall, a better than decent belt.

Thoughtful Design

Rating:***
Tough, brawny belt. But with extreme movement it will loosen up so that I’ll need to cinch it again. If it didn’t come loose this would be a great belt.
Fouron at Patagonia on 09/13/2009

so so

Rating:***
The belt is good quality and I like the style; however, it was extremely long and went an extra 25% around my waist...maybe it's just the style and I'm clueless!

Rating:***
Cool belt. I wear a size 38 and the belt was too small though. Not for people that are over 6' and 200lbs. More like one size fits small.
Sequoiaj at Patagonia on 03/02/2009

big belt

I like that the belt is infinately adjustable, but the buckle is a little large for my style.
