The Trucker Hat from Patagonia. Not your traditional trucker hat. The foam front and plastic back have been updated for the Patagonia clientele. This trucker hat doesn't smell like the inside of a plastic bag and will not be found in an archaeological dig 5,000 years from now in it's original condition.
You don’t need 18 wheels to sport this high-crown, classic hat; made of organic cotton canvas and polyester mesh. Made for late nights, bad food and country music, this is our classic road-tripping hat with lots of volume for messy hair and cool airflow. It has 100% organic cotton canvas fabric in front and 100% polyester mesh in back to keep you cool and ventilated. The retro styling features a generous, shapeable bill and an adjustable tab at the back for a perfect fit.

• Crown and bill:13-oz 100% organic cotton canvas. Back crown: 2.5-oz 100% polyester mesh.
• Material: Organic cotton is produced using techniques that are healthy and safe for the environment and the people who work and live near the fields where it’s grown. Organic cotton is never grown with synthetic chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides or defoliants, nor is it genetically modified in any way.
• Technology: At Patagonia we seek to build the best product and cause no unnecessary harm. That`s our mission statement, and it takes many forms. As it applies to making products, we work hard to source materials and use processes that are less harmful to the Earth without compromising quality. Because to us, quality is not only how well a product performs and holds up, but also how it`s made.

For a classic, laid-back look throw on the Patagonia Trucker Hat. With a polyester mesh in back to keep you cool and an adjustable tab at back for a perfect fit, this hat was made for good and unforgettable times.
Celebrate mile marker 1,000 when you pull the retro-style Patagonia Trucker over your curly 'fro and give a salute to the gods of the road-trip. Two days ago you kissed mom goodbye, shook dad's hand, and tossed this large-volume hat in the backseat of your buddy's hatchback. Now you're just happy to have this organic cotton lid to hide your unwashed hair. Add a little curve to the bill to block out the sun, kick your feet up on the dash, and let the cool mesh back do its thing while you ride shotgun ... man it feels good to hit the long road.

This is funny.

I am writing a product review of a trucker hat. I wonder if any truckers have ever done this. I'm going to anyway. Right out of the box it fit me as if it had asked to be mailed to me. It went on my next road trip. It went on another today. It may be my primary road trip hat. But then, this is what a trucker hat should be expected to do. Construction is ...well, it's a bombproof hat. It makes me look more like a trucker than I was prepared to. Which I am apparently quite OK with. I will constantly look at it, three-quarter rear view, and see the Patagonia label and, other than that, something that I would not be surprised to see on a rack in a 7-Eleven. No, this is a compliment. After all, it's a trucker hat, ain't it? If you are thinking about whether you need one, there is only one way to find out. Get one. You may surprise yourself. It kind of says road, and if that's what you're about, a beautiful friendship may be about to happen.

By far the best fitting hat I own, I wear it climbing, hiking, on the river, hanging out, going to class, basically anywhere it is acceptable to wear a hat. I am a hat wearing fool and I am always looking for new ones but usually I find a great or cool looking hat and try it on and the fit just sucks. This one is different though, I have a pretty big head so usually hats are too small for me or they just sit on top of my head like a stupid beret or something. This one on the other hand covers my whole head, it fits without being on the very last adjustable tab, and is just all around comfortable. I have another Patagonia hat that fits the same way but this one is definitely my favorite by far. Just the thought of losing this hat brings a tear to my eye. They did something right when they made this hat.

Did not meet expectations due to fit of hat

Initial Annoyance:
The size claim that "one size fits all" would more appropriately be labeled "one size fits most." I usually wear a S/M in hats and assumed with the snaps on the back of the hat I would be able to adjust this to fit. Indeed, the diameter of the hat is a non-issue. However, the deadspace between my crown/hair and the hat makes it look ridiculous when I have attempted to wear it. I wouldn't necessarily chalk this up to issues with hat build style: I have other 'trucker' style hats that are made of similar material, fit super well, and do not suffer from the 10 gallon hat phenomenon. That critique aside, the materials & craftmanship are as exceptional as one would anticipate with a Patagonia product. And, if I had 'Big Hair' or an overly large cranial vault/super thick skull I would likely be stoked about this hat.

I love my trucker hat!

I stopped by the Boulder, CO store on Labor Day while visiting some friends. They were out of the blue Live Simply hats, but one of the employees gave me a free shipping coupon (more awesome customer service from Patagonia!) so I ordered one on the website. It arrived promptly and was ready to wear right out of the box, although wearing it for a few weeks and shaping the brim a bit has made it even more comfortable and good looking. I have a huge noggin, and the adjustable tab in the back allowed for a perfect fit. Solid construction, and good attention to detail. I'm very happy with my purchase (as a matter of fact, I'm wearing it as I type this) and will most likely be ordering a maroon Freedom To Roam hat very soon.

I wear a 7 5/8ths baseball hat (New Era fitted). Most trucker style hats look terrible on my huge dome or simply don't fit. I saw reviews on the Patagonia website saying that this was a hat for folks with larger heads and that is absolutely true. I don't know if it would fit smaller headed folk, which it may, but it certainly fits the bill if you have a larger sized head.
I loosen the hat from the "standard" position (all nubs in holes) two nubs for normal wear. If river rafting or heavy wind, sometimes I tighten it by one hole just to be sure.
The hat looks great, takes a beating, and keeps going. My first one is about 5 years old and is faded, but still looks good. Go get one, they are worth it!

Sweet and looks cool, I live in it

I am a girl who has a medium size head, I can wear my trucker hat at the second to smallest adjustment hole. It's comfortable but still snug enough to hold it on windy days. If I have it at the smallest, it still fits but it's tight. Surprisingly, it actually looks very chic! Offers wonderful coverage on sunny days and the mesh doesn't matte my hair! No wonder truckers wear these type of hats all the time, the secret is out! I purchased the forest green one with the "Patagonia" embroidery across the front. I think there is a slight fit difference in the "colors," as I tried on the identical one in grey in the store and it was a little larger than my forest green one.

Sweet Trucker Hats

Love these hats a lot...I have about five different ones in rotation right now, and have retired a few oldies after they had finally been totally worn out! Great looking, great fit, great selection of different logos and colors! The only problem I have with them is that they get sweat-stained a little too easy when you're out playing hard. I've been able to clean them up again, but it gets to be a pain in the butt. Maybe the fix would be a better sweat band inside? Not sure. Overall they are great though. My favorite is my blue Live Simple with the guitar and my Freedom to Roam one is a close second! Please keep making these for years to come!

When debating on ordering this hat, I had read sooo many good and not so good reviews. I'm kinda picky about hats and hat sizing. I hate the slim wrinkly look of some hats and also the huge over the top stupid looking trucker hats, this being said: For me, this hat is freakin stella. A lot of these reviews are regarding this hat as over the top freakishly big head wrap, this is absolutely false. The hat sits very well and is very well constructed as in all Patagonia merchandise. So if by reading falsely informed reviews is making you lean towards not wanting to order it, honestly pay no mind...its an exceptional piece of work.

Trucker Hat is a Winner with Coolness Factor

This Patagonia Trucker Hat has a double coolness factor, being that it is a 'trucker' hat, and that it proudly displays the Patagonia logo. Stitching is solid, as are the details which is typical with any Patagonia product. The hat is well-made. The back half of the hat is mesh which adds natural air conditioning on those hot days in the cab, driving down the highway. The back strap is adjustable for big heads or small, and the Patagonia logo is again proudly displayed in the back. This hat is a twist on the typical baseball cap, and a win-win for any 'Good Buddy' who needs something to cover the dome on the long haul.

Best Hat

I own a lot of hats, and Patagonias trucker hat model is hands down the best. Excellent design, look, fit, ventilation, and durability. I've used this hat for full day hikes, camping trips, and just going out, and get tons of compliments regardless of what I'm doing. Some of the hats have slightly different designs in the way they fit, but all are very good and give a "sharper" look than a lot of other hat models. If you enjoy wearing hats for whatever purpose you prefer, I would highly recommend this hat. The price is absolutely worth the wear that you will get out of this hat.

Negative Reviews:

This hat is huge! I don't know who Patagonia was using as a hat model when creating this hat, but I'm assuming it was one of the Muppets. OK, that might be a stretch, but it does seem to be a bit oversized. I do have a smaller than average head, but when I moved the snaps to where I needed them, it left a huge bulge on the top/back crown, which made me look like a kid wearing one of my dad's hats. One size does fit all, but it can make some of us look foolish. I do have to say that this might be the best looking hat I have ever seen. I ordered the green hat with the traditional Patagonia logo (it was sold out on the Patagonia website, but I was able to find it elsewhere.) I actually debated keeping it, despite the size, because it is an awesome looking hat. I hope that Patagonia makes this hat a bit smaller next year, so I can order a few of them.

Too Deep

I bought the Fitz Roy Black/Black trucker hat. I really love the design and materials used. However, the fitting on the hat is really awkward. The inside of the hat is too deep and it looks really awkward. The top/back part of the crown obnoxiously sticks out and it looks like I'm a kid wearing an adults hat. It especially looks awkward when I wear the hat backwards to block the sun from behind and it makes me look like an alien. If you have an egg-shaped head than I would recommend this deep hat.
Errys at Patagonia on 01/16/2014

not fit for all

Took a chance on sale priced trucker hat recently - drawn to the patch design - a single string guitar. Unfortunately, the adjustable hat band does not accommodate all sizes (much like a lot of Patagonia product, cut for the slim and fit catalog worthy). Too bad. A lot of other companies carry this classic mesh back panel Trucker hat design in more generous cuts/size for the 'everyman'. I'll avoid online purchases for hats from now on.
BigHead at Patagonia on 02/18/2011

Quick to fade

Bought the hat recently (within the last 4 weeks) and the black material on the two front panels (not the black plastic mesh) is already fading into a gross orangish/brown color! I'm aware of sun damage and subsequent color fading that goes along with it, but not that quickly!
JMcA at Patagonia on 06/29/2013

BIG hat

I love the look of the hat; however, the size is ackward. A very large crown makes the hat look too tall and if you pull it down it makes your ears stick out. Unfortunately, I had to return the hat.
DLindsey at Patagonia on 06/13/2013

too deep

Got to have a huge head (and I got a big head, still too small) or a ton of hair to find this hat useful. Sick lookin hat, not a very good fit though.
alagnak6 at Patagonia on 04/08/2011

Not for people with big heads

This had it too small for anyone with a head larger than 7 5/8. I normally wear 7 7/8 and this thing is too small.
In fact, all Patagonia hats are the same way.

poor fitting hat

poor fit... sits too high and is too deep
I really like the styling and the black under the bill is great, but with the poor fit, its all for not

Abe Lincoln's trucker hat

"Yeah... it's perfect! And who doesn't love a trucker hat! Now just make it like, two inches taller." Absolutely the oddest fitting trucker hat I've ever had.

Great looking hat but built for neanderthals. I've got a pretty good sized head but this hat pushes my ears down and out like wings!

Neutral Reviews:

I ordered my third Trucker Hat a few weeks ago. I love the throwback Expo colors and was really excited about its arrival. I was disappointed when I tried it on for the first time. When I purchased my first Trucker Hat I was sold when a lot of the reviews I read talked about its depth and "bigger head with a lot of hair" accommodating fit. I was not disappointed and i wear it all the time. The newest purchase is not the same. It is not as deep and/or large. I have to adjust it to its biggest size and it sits too high on my head. Patagonia should go back to the old fit or at least warn buyers that the fit has changed.
jrash at Patagonia on 05/01/2012

I have a medium size head about 7 1/4 and when I use to get these a few years back they fit like a glove. The last couple of years patagonia has made these bigger and bigger. I can't buy anymore because they are absolutely too big even with the snap back. It looks ridiculous with a snap back cinched back to the hilt, just warps the entire hat so I have given up. I love their hats but sizing is essential. Believe me I wish my head were bigger to accomodate this hat but, well thats just dreaming. That is just my personal opinion anyways. I find the Kavu trucker hats fit much better and the sizing is more realistic to the masses.

Trucker hat

I have purchase three of these hats. The first was a brown one with the live simply embroidery. I absolutely love the color and the fit, unfortunately I lost this and a down sweater while working in NYC. When I went to replace the hat I thought I'd purchase the same hat and add the blueblack one with the Patagonia logo on it. The color on the blueblack is great and so is the logo. However, they are not the same hat, the brown has much more of a curved brim (which I like) and the blueblack much flatter (which I don't like). Maybe these come from two different manufacturing places or something, but there should be a description of the differences.
benattridge at Patagonia on 09/16/2009
I am a huge fan of Patagonia hats and beanies. I have about 7 Patagonia Trucker hats in my closet and they seem to be getting bigger every year. I have to say hat the Fall 09 series would be my favorite, they have a low profile that seems to fit my head quite well. The new hats coming out seem to be much bigger that I have to actually fit them over my ears so that they will sit on my head right. The F09 hats I own don't do that at all, I wish Patagonia would go back to that style and size
beardo at Patagonia on 02/18/2011

too tall

The maker of the hat has changed and thus the size is different from older trucker hats. I have the blue hat with the red flying fish logo from a while back and it is by far my favorite hat. I recently got the new grey fly fishing logo hat and it is quite a bit different. It is much taller/deeper and I have to balance it on top of my head so it doesn't slip down and push my ears out. It's not a deal breaker and the hat still looks good, I was just expecting the perfection of the older style.
troutjustice at Patagonia on 04/15/2011

Nice hat but too deep for me

This is a nice looking, well-made hat, but it's just too deep for my head. I'm a tall, lean guy and having a hat sticking up an inch or so over the top of my head only makes me look more like a bean pole. I tried the Master Chief hat and the Roger That hat--both with the same result. If you're shorter or stockier any one of these would probably look great, but beware if you have a shape at all like mine. Would be great if Patagonia had a more shallow hat in the lineup
BackcountryDad at Patagonia on 06/23/2013

Sorry guys!

O.K. let me preface this by saying this is the only Patagonia product that has ever remotely disappointed me. I received this hat in february for my birthday, and it has received daily wear. It is without a doubt my favorite hat for style and fit. However, the mesh back has threads coming out everywhere, and the thick plastic filament that attaches the cloth to the mesh comes out like little daggers and pokes you in the scalp. I give it 3 stars because it looks so darn cool, but hurts so dang bad to wear.
BoonDoc at Patagonia on 09/09/2008

Was my favorite hat

I have purchased a few of these hats over the past several years. Fit great and I wore them all the time, in all conditions. Typically excellent Patagonia quality--very durable. However, I just purchased a new one to replace one I bought in 2008, and discovered that the new hats are almost comically large. Comparing it side by side with the older hats, it is significantly taller. Unless you have a huge head, I would recommend thinking twice about buying these hats. It's a pity, too, since they have good styling and are well made.
Anonymous at Patagonia on 01/20/2011

Not a real trucker hat

Its a very nice hat but it is not cut like a trucker hat. I think the cut style of this hat is called is a low profile trucker. It is cut much, much smaller than a true trucker so it WILL NOT FIT THE SAME AS A TRUE TRUCKER HAT! Just thought you should know if you are used to wearing trucker hats. It looks cool though and it fit my wife so she got a new hat and I'm still looking.
DrewC at Patagonia on 05/18/2009

Great hat, bad fit

If you're like me and have a average or smaller sized head, this hat may not be for you. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE this hat, but it just runs on the large side. By this I mean it has a ton of extra space between my head and the top of the hat.
