Pearl Izumi Sun Sleeve -
A sleeve that keeps your arm cool and free from dangerous sunburn.

When we were kids we relished getting the darkest, starkest-looking tan line on our arms; it made us feel that much closer to our pro idols and set us apart from our football - or soccer-playing mates. Now, with our adult knowledge of the damage the sun's rays can do to our skin, we recognize the need for some sorts of protection. The Pearl Izumi Sun Sleeves not only offer UPF 40-rated protection, but they actually keep us cooler in the hot sun than we would be riding with bare arms.

That's because they are made from the Elite Transfer fabric with In-R-Cool technology, which work together to manage moisture as you perspire and provide optimal skin cooling. The In-R-Cool technology used here is the very same used in Pearl Izumi's most advanced jerseys and works to wick rapidly and keep the surface temperature of the fabric down by reflecting the sun's UV rays. Add to this the sun protection that the Sun Sleeves provide, and you will be able to ride all day without having to worry about overheating or caring for sunburned arms in the evening.

Designed to fit like a second skin, the stretchy Sun Sleevesinclude the Direct-Vent mesh on the underside of the arms to help with ventilation, something you will be very happy about on a hot day around 3 o'clock. And if you happen to be out riding as the sun is setting, Pearl Izumi has added reflective elements to help keep you safe.

The Pearl Izumi Sun Sleeves come in White and are available in sizes Small, Medium and Large.

Great Product

This review is for the white sun sleeves, which I think differ in construction from the black ones. I first used these on a day with temps in the low 60's at the start of a 40 mile ride. I felt that they provided a slight bit of warmth and wind protection until I started to sweat. My arms were warmer than they would have been if left bare, but as soon as I began to sweat the cooling effect of the material became obvious. I have worn them for about 150 miles of riding so far and like them alot. I am wondering how much of a cooling effect they will have when it is 90 degrees and 90% humidity. I'm am sure I will find out. They sure beat slathering up your arms with sun screen!

better than white

bought for sun protection
don't seem to get hot in them
have the white ones which look sharp as well but suspect that they won't weather as well as the black in terms of coloration. both are washed in regular or gentle cycle and dripped dry and have done well for a few washings. have not been out with them beyond 90F temperature but are fine thus far in the 70s and 80s F.

works for sun!

Doesn't really cool, but wicks very well. Completely kept the Iowa sun off and was comfortable to wear in 100+ degree weather.

Neutral Reviews:

It's true that I don't have supermodel thin arms but these were very tight in the upper arm area. I wanted these for the sun protection while driving, but they felt like they were cutting off circulation to my arms after just a few seconds of wearing them. These might be great for someone with really thin arms, but they just didn't work for me. I ordered a small based on the size chart, but maybe I would be fine with a Medium.
