The William Triact-Lock Carabiner by Petzl is a manual locking pear-shaped carabiner with a large opening to accommodate for anchoring of several ropes and slings. This carabiner is best suited for organizing at belays and belaying with a Munter hitch and unlocks quickly in two movements for increased safety. The Triact’s large open gate is perfect to get a bunch of webbing or rope inside and it also has a super efficient key lock nose and gate with no snagging, making clipping into anything clean and simple, even during maneuvers. The red indicator provides a visual warning when the device is unlocked to give you peace of mind when you go to double check your gear. I like to take this one after a day of climbing and spin it around my finger, because I think it makes me look really cool, I could be wrong though.

it's not going to open accidentally

| I borrowed a friend's triact-william for a long multipitch climb. in the morning i was cursing it because even with two hands it was a challenge to open. By the end of the day I had it dialed and started appreciating the extra safety with the complex gate. it feels much safer than simple twist lock style, which may be okay for some applications. this one is great for belaying and clipping into anchors. The william carabiner is huge too, which is nice. | |

Like a bank vault! | |

| It locks up solid! This carabiner is pretty big and beefy. I like how large the opening is so I can easily keep the gate open and attach whatever i want to it. The three step process (push up, twist, open gate) inorder to open the gate is a plus for added safety. I would recommend this to anyone! | |

Couldn't be better | |

| It's humorous to give to inexperienced climbers and tell them to open it. Great quality. Always sure that you are locked. Also works great as a redirect from top-managed sites with the ATC guide | |

best auto locking one I have

| It can be a pain to get open when you're not used to it, but that's the point, right? It feels great and stays where it should. Good for belaying and master anchor point. | |

The best! | |

| This is simply the best auto locking carabiner out there. I also have the ball lock version and have used some other auto lockers they don't compare. | |

Great Auto-locking Biner!

| Never had a problem with it!Though as one reviewer previously stated it is a bit tricky to "operate" one-handed...Other than that Great product! | |

Hard to open | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| This locking biner is really hard to open with one hand. Unless, may be, if you have big hands. And it's even harder to manipulate with gloves on when ice climbing I really can't use it. Back to my old screw type biner. | |

Good but some complicated to handle it
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I bought it to use it with my petzl pirana, the carabiner is excellent in quality but the three act is a llittle bit complicated compared to other kind of auto locking carabiners. Is more common and ergonomic to move down than up the barrel to open it. This take me a little bit more time and complication to setup the rope than other kind of carabinners. Of course is safe, just complicated. | |

Bought mine in 06 | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I purchased this for the auto-lock feature, which is a great invention and works fine. The thing I do not like is that it's very hard to operate one-handed. It also catches dust very easy and kind of hurts my teeth when I use it because of the grinding of metal and sand during the screw process. Ick | |
