Platypus 1 Water Bottle w/closure cap

Hiking & Camping > Water Bottles & FlasksRated: ***** by 2 reviews.

Altrec

Empty hard plastic bottles have an annoying habit of consuming precious pack storage space when you don't need them. That's why Platypus® designed bottles like this one-liter Platypus 1 with a plastic laminate that flattens and rolls up when you don't need it. A gusseted base allows for free standing convenience in camp and at rest stops. This one has a closure cap that accommodates other liquids like sauces and syrups--the right sort of culinary touches for a sophisticated base camp. If you want a Platypus for drinking, check out the Platypus 1 with the Push-Pull Cap.

Reviews:

Very portable container with no plastic taste.

Rating:*****
The bottle has worked great for me thus far. I freeze the bottom 3/4 and fill the remainder with water. This gives me cold water for hours (I've only used it in the NW winter so far). There is no plastic taste which is great. The only negative I can see is cleaning it... I don't think I would put anything besides water in it for this reason.

Pretty cool water sack

Rating:*****
I like this, lighter and more packable than the nalgene. I don't think it replaces the water bottles, but is something good to have. I would take one of these and one water bottle backpacking.
