Amazingly strong

Rating:*****
Have been trying to find a good water holder that would take up little room empty for small survival kits. That way, with some purification tablets, the kit would be small enough to carry on me at all times. I decided to test this bottle out. I will admit, I was rough on it -- I wanted to see exactly if I could trust it. So I put it through a few freeze/thaw cycles, bounced against ground, walls, trees. Kicked it across the parking lot. And even filled it and stood on it (225#). I will admit that I am amazed that, after all that abuse, it still works perfectly with only a few cosmetic scuffs. Another thing -- the threads are the same size as plastic pop bottles so caps are readily available for it. (Also the textured pop caps are easier to grip than the smooth Platypus caps.) Another bonus is that they are polyethylene which has no flavor and does not outgas anything like polycarbonate may. I am definitely going to buy a few more and recommend them to others.

wondrous!

Rating:*****
I have this size and the 3 liter size and carrying the 1 liter on the trail in my back pocket was very comfortable and easy to access. Iodine stains it until you wash it with soap and water. (i drink river water using the iodine tablets.) Once empty it fits almost anywhere folded up. i have had it for years. it is very durable! Yes, there is no taste from the plastic.

great water system

Rating:****
Bought 2 of these along with drink hose to fit in the side hydration pockets of my husband's REI Galaxy pack. They work great and, best of all, fold up to negligible size when empty. They are extremely durable, too. They stand up alright, but spill easily if you're not careful. A little difficult to clean, but better than most of the collapsible bottles or other hydration reservoirs out there.

The only water bottle I use now

Rating:*****
These have replaced my hard lexan bottles. They are much lighter and pack away very small. I have frozen them, boiled them, thrown them, and stomped on them and I have not damaged one yet. They are difficult to clean but I just put some hot water in with soap and shake it really hard, then rinse. They never retain any flavors.

Great space saver

Rating:****
A great item for saving space in the pack, when its empty just roll it up and stick it in there. Also significantly lighter than a normal hard plastic water bottle like a nalgene, for those of you out there to save on weight.

Nice travel bottle

Rating:****
This bottle is great to carry and store, it takes almost no space to carry, but it is difficult to clean and dry out between uses. It is durable and the 1L is just the right capacity for traveling around.

Best Water Bottle Ever!

Rating:*****
The best hydration solution out there. I carry a pair of these on backpacking trips with some chlorine drops. You can fill them up wherever, whenever, and they weigh next to nothing. Beauty in simplicity.

Nice system

Rating:****
My wife bought these bottles with holster and drinking tube for an upcoming trip. She really likes them. I'm still trying to convince myself to stop long enough to drink on the trail!

Great bottle. Easy to stash

Rating:*****
Took two of these on a backpacking trip recently. They came in very handy. Traded the top for a sport top and couldn't be happier.

Negative Reviews:

what a dumb cap

Rating:**
Platypus really needs to put the Sports cap from the .5L version of this on the 1L version. The twist off cap is pretty useless for drinking directly from it.
