Positive Reviews:

Worth a Shot!

Rating:****
It's worth a try compared to some of the other reservoirs. It's definitely one of the cheaper products.

I've taken this backpacking, hiking, and car camping. I like it. It's 2 L which is a good size with clear plastic so you can see how much you have or whatever you want to mix it with. It's definitely light which is a plus!

The opening is the same size as a disposable water bottle. I haven't had any trouble with that. I've never had anything except plain water in mine so shaking it up with some soap and water to clean is fine. Then I leave it hanging over my sink to dry for a day or two which is slow unfortunately. I have had no problems filling it up. I filter my water in a Nalegene and then transfer it over. The opening is smaller but it won't kill me to pour a little longer and slower to make sure I get my water all in.

The bite valve is a bit different. My boyfriend has a Camelback and his you can just squeeze the mouthpiece and water comes right out. My platypus you have to bite gently not chewing it up and suck the water out. So this could be good or bad depending on your preference.

I've had no problems with leaking and I've had mine for a little over a year now. All in all, I like it. I will continue to use Platypus products because of the good price and good performance.

Negative Reviews:

Not, good

Rating:**
I thought this thing was lacking, for several reasons. The valve seemed to never leak, except once, where my heavy pack was pinching the end, and it made a large puddle, which the dog made quick work of.
But, when I went to clean some dirt off the mouthpiece with my fingers, the bite valve actually pulled right off with not much force.
The refill hole, is a joke. And drying, takes forever, even hanging vertical under a ceiling duct. Taste was a little "off", but whatever.

Neutral Reviews:

Good lightweight option

Rating:***
This is a solid product for its price and performs to my expectations. A couple of comments:

- Very minimalist, so it's quite easy to slide in and out of my backpack reservoir compartment. I've noticed that with other reservoirs with more features, inserting/removing can be a bit more of a hassle.
- I wouldn't say that the water taste is completely neutral coming out of the tube, but it certainly doesn't taste bad, just a tad bit "rubbery." It's hard to describe in words.
- The mouth is very small, and makes refilling a bit cumbersome. There certainly are feature drawbacks when trying to cut down weight and price, and this seems to be one of them. Also, since there is only one mouth which serves as the refill port and the outlet port, you have to disassemble to refill. Again, I wouldn't necessarily call this a drawback considering price and desired minimalism, but just something to keep in mind.
- Cleaning and drying require some creative work/methods.

Good enought - but one problem

Rating:***
Lightweight and works extremely well, but the mouth is very, very small. Makes it a little harder to clean, and fill. If you are using it for biking in hot weather, be warned, the mouth is too small to insert ice cubes, (a good idea on hot days)
