| We've owned 4 of these for several years, and they are incredibly handy and durable. When empty, they roll up small and extremely light. When full, they are very easy to carry with the attached handles. They fit easily into nooks and crannies of vehicles, river craft, and backpacks. It takes a little practice to learn how to zip the top shut, and this requirement of user skill is the only reason I don't give it a 5. Once you get it zipped, it stays zipped. We've never, ever had one leak! We've depended on these containers to supply our drinking water during multi-day stints in a fire lookout; on multi-day river trips; on car camping trips in the desert; on backpacking trips where we needed to tank up. They've never let us down, and are much easier to clean, fill, and pour than are the rigid water tanks. | |

Great design, but breaks over time | |

| I have used these tanks for about my last 6 years of backpacking, and they started out working extremely well. Perfect carrier for water to campsite, could connect water filter directly to tank with an adapter, packed small and light. However, after about 2 seasons of use, the "big zip" closure on the top of the tank started becoming brittle and difficult to close. After about 3-4 seasons, they could not be closed at all. So, I ended up on backpacking trips where the whole top of the tank was open, and even with careful handling (lean against rock, etc), I ended up having the tanks tip over and spill all their contents at least 30% of the time. (Major bummer when it takes 30 mintues to filter 6 Liters!) So, I ended up having to switch to the MSR DromLite bags. They are heavier, but they don't leak (yet)! PS - I believe the plastic in these water tanks was recently switched to BPA-free, so I supposed it is possible the new plastic could perform differently than the ones I used. | |
