A Must-Have for Hikers

Rating:*****
I would highly recommend this item to any hiker or adventurer. It is the PERFECT camp item. I thru-hiked the AT recently, and this collapsible, lightweight water-carrier was being used by not just me, but other hikers at every shelter.

Most hikers carry about 2 liters of water (usually in the form of Nalgenes or Gatorade bottles or even a Camelbak) with them throughout the day, but 2 liters usually isn't enough for camp.

Think about when you hike into a shelter for the night. You want to cook dinner (usually a cup or two), drink plenty (three or four cups), wash your pots (one cup), brush your teeth (another cup), and have some left over for the night's sleep. Oh yeah, and add a lot more for breakfast the next morning!

The reality of hiking the AT was that some shelters had great water sources that were nearby, but a lot didn't, and some of them (no joke) would take 20 minutes of walking to get to, or take you over 400 ft. of elevation change, and who in their right mind wants to make that trip more than once if they don't have to.

I know lots of fellow hikers were using my Platypus bag for just this reason. And if you're Aqua-Mira-ing your water, you don't need to worry about potential fungus. The chlorine will kill it if it even pops up, which in my case, it didn't.

Great water container

Rating:*****
This is a wonderful water container to take backpacking. It is very light and compact yet holds 4 liters of water once you get your camp established. Well worth it!
