The Synapsis XP helmet has been developed by poc to be ultra light, without sacrificing protection or safety. It weighs in at feathery 375 grams and is certified according the CE-1077 as well as ASTM standards. Thanks to challenging and overcoming industrial obstacles, it has been doable, using POCs patent pending ABP, Bullet Proof Anti Penetration Barrier. The Aramid is placed in-between the extremely thin vacuum molded outer shell and the EPS-liner, in the injection process. Thanks to finally succeeding, with the complicated process, the helmet withstands penetration, despite its low weight. Furthermore, all excesses have been aborted. There is no turning ring for adjustable fit, the padding is reduced to what is really needed, metal parts are reduced to a minimum and the lightest materials available are used, to keep the weight down. So for those of you seeking a ventilated helmet at minimum weight, without comprising safety, there is Synapsis.
POC's Synapsis XP Helmet uses a semi-hard shell design to absorb large impacts from botched cliff drops and cartwheel crashes on big-mountain lines. POC made this helmet for skiers who won't even consider a binding with a DIN less than 12 and who tend to ride helicopters more often than ski lifts. The POC Synapsis XP Helmet's large hood-scoop style vents keep your head cool whether you rip a steep chute or session a terrain park.
POC engineers developed the Synapsis XP Helmet using APB(anti penetration barrier)to minimize weight and maximize protection. POC made this helmet for those of you who refuse to crank your DIN below twelve and spend most of your time riding lines that should be in videos. The POC Synapsis XP Helmet's large hood-scoop style vents keep your head cool whether you rip a steep chute or session a terrain park.

The Synapsis XP Helmet has a lightweight unlaminated Aramid membrane between the outer shell and the inner EPS that prevents penetration through the shell without compromising the cushion on the inside. It's not the same as the sandwich construction of shock-absorbing EPS and polyurethane honeycomb that progressively absorbs impact found on the Skull Comp Helmet, but many skiers don't want to carry the additional ounces around their head.

Great but some durability issues
| Rating: | ![]() |
Overall, POC makes a great helmet. It fits well, and feels very, very secure. You can tell that a great deal of attention was paid to both the fill and shell. However, related parts did not get the same treatment. I have two gripes. After only 6 days of use - one in dry Colorado powder and five in very deep and somewhat wet conditions in BC - the stick'um that holds the visor in place wore out so that it kept falling in my face, and the plastic pieces that hold the ear piece assembly to the helmet snapped at the insertion point into the helmet. For $200, I would expect attention to every detail, including these. Still, this is a very solid helmet and I would stick with POC despite these issues, which are annoying but can be fixed with super glue.

Light and Cool | |

The helmet is extremely light and well-built. The vents can be turned on and off by flipping two small velcro patches inside the helmet. With the vents open, my head never overheated and with them closed the helmet was very warm. The visor is great in snow, helping keep your goggles clear. The only downside of the visor is that it restricts airflow to the goggles and cause some fogging when skiing slow. But who goes slow? Spped is your friend.

POC ROCKS! | |

THis is the best helmet I've had. I just came back from a Heli boarding trip and the helmet is great, it is very light and fits well. The vents are very helpfull in keeping your skull cool. The visor is a good accesorie for the snow and sun. I would recomend POC for anynbody that doesn't want to compromise performance.

Not as "ducky" as I was expecting, looks awesome paired with my POC Iris Bugs. Light doesn't even begin to describe this helmet. I forget I'm wearing it sometimes. Glad I got it.

Sweet Look but tricky fit
| Rating: | ![]() |
My awesome wife got this helmet for me after an offseason of research and debating. The helmet looks sweet, especially with the POC lobe googles but the fit is tricky. I have a 59.5 cm head circumference but the XL (59-60cm) had pressure points. I think this helmet is a better fit for oval or maybe roval shaped heads. If you have a full, round melon like mine you won't be happy with the discomfort. I'll also note that this helmet has much less padding than some of the other brands. This probably helps with the venting but not with comfort. Wish it fit!
