Decent Choice

Rating:****
I don't eat these so much anymore, but I used to rely on the Chocolate ones every day for years when I was in team sports. The idea, as I understood it, was that you'd eat it about 30 min before sports activity with a little water so that it would turn into an easily-digestible gel in your stomach. I never found them to be heavy. I found Clif and Balance bars to be much heavier. Balance bars tasted more like candy bars, and Clif bars tasted better but all kind of tasted the same to me. I think the Power Bars are cold-pressed (which doesn't sound so tasty) whereas I think Clif bars are baked. In any case, if you're looking for a mid-afternoon snack, I think a Clif bar would taste better. I also liked the Power Bars because you could eat half and wrap the other half up in the mylar/plastic wrap and stow it easily for later. I think it's a good choice for a general "performance" energy bar. Some of the newer flavors like "such and such smoothie" are way too sweet though..

One of the few I can stomach...

This is my classic 1/2-to-1-bar-an-hour workout snack for long workouts, not too much acidic to get stomach problems and quick to rinse with water. Only minus is that unpacking while bike riding can be tough so I stick it on the top tube...

Quick and easy

Rating:****
We took a variety of Power Bars on a recent Mt. Shasta climb and they worked well. One of the things we appreciated most was that they don't crumble and get mashed up in your pack or pocket like some other bars.
