The Probar is the perfect example of necessity giving birth to invention. Art Eggertsen was living in Utah’s famous ski resort of Snowbird working as a natural foods chef and snowboarding regularly when he found himself in need of better nutrition to fuel his long days on the slopes. He needed long lasting energy and a healthy alternative to the standard fare of cheeseburgers, fries and soda. A nutrition advocate for years and known to many as “The Food Coach”, Art set out to design his own high performance energy bar. After several trips to the local health food store and many recipes later, the end result was Probar.
Made from whole, raw foods and 100% vegan, Probar offers a natural alternative to other energy bars that contain ingredients that can be unrecognizable and a little hard to pronounce. After moving to the winter sports haven of Park City, Art began to distribute the Probar to his own clients only to receive rave reviews and demand for more. Word of mouth passed among the athletes and everyday people and the growing buzz caught the attention of an entrepreneurial friend. Ever since that summer of 2001, Probar has been challenged to keep up with an overwhelming demand.
