good all-around lube | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I was looking for a good all-around lube, which would work primarily on-road for chains and gears but also occassional off-road / dusty rides. For off-road especially very dusty or muddy conditions I would have to say something like Pedro's Ice Wax or White Lightning are really hard to beat (I try to stay away from the wet lubes completely), but this ProGold is a great all-around chain lube. A little pricey yes, but this is a decent sized bottle and the stuff goes a long way and doesn't build up or need to be constantly reapplied, so you can cut down your wait time to get back on the road or trail as well. Just apply (for chains, a few drops every inch or two is plenty), wait a minute to let dry, a quick wipe, run through the gears one time (old habit), and you're good to go. For cables I actually have a tiny bottle of even more expensive specialty lubricant but I understand this will work for that as well, and I believe it. I've even used it on sticky derailleurs or brake mechanisms in a pinch. Good stuff and I'd probably buy it again for my all-around riding use. | |

Lube those part! | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| ProLink is a good lube for both chain and shifter assemblies. Just a drop at each joint, working in with shifting and chain rotating; then a rag to remove the excess. Keeps shifts and pedaling smooth and carefree. Does not attract or buildup dirt. Cleaner than light weight oil, but more expensive. | |
