Positive Reviews:

Just what I needed

Rating:*****
I purchased this bike after returning a full suspension bike back to[...] after countless issues and a cracked rear rim within 8 days and 9 miles of buying the bike. There was no way that I was going to exchange it for the same one and felt less confident about buying another one from "Wallyworld". Now back to square one and wanted something inexpensive since I was just starting off, but sturdy enough to get me going while I save for a higher-end bike in the future, so on a whim I headed to Dick's. I received excellent service from Elliot, the bike tech at the Smithfield Store who answered my questions and concerns. He allowed me to try out and compare the bikes in my price range and showed my how to adjust and service the bikes. After deciding to make this bike my choice, he then proceeded to take the bike off the rack and run a service check, made all the adjustments and fittings, check to make sure the gears were properly configured while showing me how to maintain my new bike. I left the store feeling very good about my new purchase and this sturdy and well built bike has exceeded my expectations and then some. I saved over $80 and got a bike that is perfect for my needs. I primarily bike to exercise and so far this bike has been just what I needed. In less than two weeks I'm over 30 miles and counting. I would definitely recommend this bike and the Smithfield Dick's! PS, get a new seat also.

Okay Entry Level Bike

Rating:****
I paid [$] for this bike at Dick's Sporting Goods. Comparable bikes were $20-70 more at the big discount stores.[...] The shifter is better is Shimano and shifts better than the SRAM and other cheaper brands on the comparably priced bikes. The brakes are also a better quality than the discount store bikes. I ride more on the paved bike path in my town than in the campground, so this bike works for me.

Negative Reviews:

Cheap flimsy componets

Rating:*
purchased this bike to ride casually with my 4 1/2 year son.

Pros: Bike looks nice & weight not too bad compared to others in this price range.

Cons: Cheap components that break easily especially the front sprockets.

I put bike into highest gear & went into a sprint to see how fast I could go. On the 3rd or 4th hard turn of the crank of my sprint the chain ripped off as result of me shredding teeth off the front sprocket.

Sprokets are made of the cheapest flimsiest metal I have ever seen. When I looked at this bike in the store I was concerned about this , but figured maybe it was stronger than it appeared, unfortunately weaker than I bargained for. other front sprokets also showing a lot of wear & tear with worn & cracked teeth All with Less than 20 minutes riding time logged on this bike. It's a Mountain bike! I only weigh 150 lbs & 45 yrs old rding easy. This bike is unsafe.

Faulty product

Rating:*
It is a nice looking bike and it rides pretty good but I only rode it six times and there are 6 missing teeth on the large sproket and 5 missing on the mid sized sproket. This product should be recalled, I couldn't take it back and I refuse to re-sell it in this condition.
