Reef Ginger

I've been wearing reef gingers a long time and they are the best flip flops I've owned. The footbeds mold to your feet after a few wears, brand new straps are soft and don't chafe, and the ginger's traction is great (for a flip flop) new, but not bad after several months of daily wear and lots of walking. There's even a decent amount of arch support (I've heard from friends, I have flat arches). I've tried others in its domain - tevas, havaianas - and some in a class (price) above - clarks, keen - but nothing beats a good pair of reef gingers. I didn't know they could improve these guys until I got the 'new' style from BCOutlet recently. They rock! The soles look slightly thinner and are therefore more flexible new, but not any less cushy. Good job to the product developers at reef - I will be a lifelong customer.

Day One - the flip flops feel great, even though I didn't get to break them in, because it's still cold at home in Pennsylvania. Day Two - I think I'll wear the flip flops, they’re so comfortable! Day Three - I walked 20 miles the first 2 days and no sore feet - I think I'll wear the flip flops again. Out to dinner – Hmmm, maybe I better dress up for my last evening in New Orleans and wear high heels to parade down Bourbon St. Ouch, Ouch, Ouch - what a mistake. Day Four - still cold in Pennsylvania but I'm wearing the flip flops to go home!

I bought the pink and black Reef Ginger Sandals a few months ago and I wear them with everything. It took about a week to break them in (the soles have a very high arch, or my feet are flat, so it took me some time to get used to), but ever since then I've worn them constantly. The soles are really soft and mold to your feet quickly without compromising the durability of the sandal. My only problem is the shape of the toe area, which kind of makes you move your big toe inward toward the thong strap (from taking yoga i've learned that it's better for your posture and comfort for the big toe to be slightly farther from the second toe).

I have a pair of black Reef Ginger sandals from YEARS ago that are still my all-time favorite. So when it came to ordering a similar pair in a different color at this price, it was a no-brainer. They are exactly what I expected.

BTW - I tried the Reef Crystal last summer and NEVER broke them in - for some reason Reef put the seams on the leather on the most sensitive part of the foot - between the toes on top - and they drove me crazy. So back to the Ginger. Should have just gone this route in the first place.

These are my favorite sandals, been wearing them for years! Love to be able to get them wet/dirty, toss them in the washing machine and dry them in the shade or sun. The squishy soles are super comfortable and last a very long time. I prefer these thinner soles versus the platform style, much more comfortable and easier to trek on uneven surfaces. The only drawback to these sandals is that the footbed is slippery when wet (not the bottom tread) and makes it harder to walk up hills when wet (like after an ocean swim). Even still, I love these sandals and have them in many colors :-)

I spied a friend wearing these cool sandals and after chasing them down in brick stores, landed on this site where there is better selection. Earlier review was right; they run small, so finding a size 11 here was blessed. Super comfy and light with support. The black sole stays clean looking. A woman at the gym had a pair several years old and the blue strap faded but is still good looking. The strap is soft, so it tends to fold over on itself a bit. Real simple, mag rates them highly too.

Bought these based on the customer reviews saying that they had great arch support and molded to your feet. I thought my days of flip flops were long gone but these are amazing! I have high arches and extreme arch problems--these Reefs have allowed me to go "barefoot" again. WARNING it does take a few days of slow breaking in to allow comfort between the toes. Started to rub and hurt but if you break in slowly the effort is REALLY worth it!!
