great collar, much improved!
| Rating: | ![]() |
| We love this collar -- it's sturdy, attractive, easy to put on and take off, and it has held up to loads of water, mud, wrestling, biting, and general abuse. We got the previous version (pre-slider-improvment) for our brand-new puppy. The medium sized collar just fit our labrador retriever on the smallest setting at 10 weeks. We used this collar to hold his tags. and occasionally for short periods on leash. However, after any amount of time on leash it would loosen completely and easily slipped off. For training reasons we almost always used a martingale collar when he was on leash, so this loosening was not too much of an issue (though annoying). Other than that flaw, the collar material and hardware held up wonderfully, and the buckle was super-easy to attach and release (which was a big plus since we crate-trained him, and for safety reasons we never leave him in the crate with his collar on... so lots of collar on-and-off throughout the day). It's also just super cute and attractive on our all-black dog, and the price is quite reasonable (and how can you not love the "adventure dog" label?) He just outgrew that medium collar at 9 months (he's on the small side) or we'd still be using it. I was happy to see that REI had addressed the issue with the size adjustment hardware (tri-glide slider), and so we purchased another one in size large. The new slider definitely holds much much better than the one on his first collar -- so far it hasn't slipped at all. We still use a different collar for extended time on leash, but this has held up to some very enthusiastic walks from the car to the dog park gate without loosening at all. Thanks for making that improvement, REI -- this is now an excellent product. | |

Nice Collar | |

| I haven't had any issues with this collar loosening, either on its own day-to-day, or while on a walk. I attach the leash directly to the collar and still no problems - I was really surprised to read the other reviews for this product. I like the lightweight material that was used and I love how this collar looks, I think it's a great product. | |

They fixed the slip buckle!

| This is the 2nd time we bought this collar. The 1st time we did, the slip buckle was too big, and I had to sew it so it wouldn't move. The 2nd time we bought it, they had put a new slip buckle on it so it's good and tight now. Way to listen REI! | |

Stylish, Durable, Easy To Keep Clean
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I've found it difficult to find a great looking collar, that was durable and easy to keep clean. I love the color, the large clasp, and the elastic material. Other reviews have said it comes detached, I've not used on a dog larger the 15 lbs. Solid, stylish, and durable! I own the orange | |

Nice Collar | |

| Unlike the others that reviewed this product, I did not experience the collar becoming loose on its own. I do not walk my dog on the leash, but it just doesn't seem like this would be a problem. | |

Use it for what it is! | |

| It's a good looking collar, but I agree with the other reviewers in that it loosens easily via the slip buckle. HOWEVER, people should take note that a dog's collar shouldn't really be the contact point between a dog and leash - especially if the dog has a tendency to pull. My pup wears a modified slip collar which he wears in addition to his regular collar when on leash, and when he was younger and pulled a lot, he was on a harness. So to the folks out there who simply clip a leash to a dog's collar, DON'T!! | |

Easy-off collar - not for use with leash
| Rating: | ![]() |
| This collar loosens so much and so easily, that in the process of play with other dogs at the park, my dog has had this thing pulled off of him twice. I tighten it every time he comes near me and the weight of his tags alone will loosen it again. If it weren't for the fact that I use a harness, this thing would be in the trash. Don't walk your dog on this collar! | |

Poor Quality | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| This collar looks good, but after only four days of use on my shepherd/husky mix the stitching around the D-ring started ripping out. Also, the fabric snagged whenever he scratched his neck. Didn't rip or fray the fabric, but made solid blue streaks through the pattern. I returned the collar and ordered a Ruff Wear Doubleback collar & leash - more expensive, but vastly better quality! | |

Don't buy it. | |

| I agree with the other reviewers. The material slides too easily through the buckle. It comes loose with standard daily dog motion (lay down for a nap, go to food bowl, get a drink, lay down for a nap). Not at all suitable for an REI Adventure Dog who might require a collar, and her tags, for her own safety. | |

Dont Bother | |

| I bought one and it shredded apart, threads began to rip from the center of the collar out. Returned it but the new one did the same thing in less than a week. I have a chocolate lab that is very active but not so ridiculous that he continually rips apart collars. This thing is junk. | |
