great product

After my 3 day hiking trip this weekend, I am convinced that purchasing a dog backpack was the right things to do––and that I bought the right one.

This pack is light and spacious, which allowed me to put all sorts of things in it. The hole in the bottom allows any water to drip out (from when dog goes into water).

It fit well on my 60 lbs dog––meaning through jumping, swimming, climbing, running, and shaking the back did not get too lopsided.

The material is surprisingly durable. My dog and I were climbing through sticks, bushes, and rocks, which scraped the bag repeatedly. She often wanted to go under fallen trees and would get stuck from being too tall or too wide (with the bags). This happened again and again and at the end of the hike, the bag had only one minor pick in the thread.

No hair rubbed of of her due to a bad fit and it is easy to adjust the straps so that it fits securely. The only thing is that I noticed them getting loose after a few hours. But again, this was after trying to squeeze through narrow spaces and repeatedly stressing the pack.

An unexpected perk is the handle on top. My dog slipped on some loose soil and almost fell down an embankment, but I grabbed her by the handle and lifted her up. The strap and buckles held. Also, I'd use this to help her over a rock that was too tall for her to jump up onto.

I definitely recommend this bag. My dog carried 10-15 pounds and it lasted through a very rugged hike in Linville Gorge.

(btw, if you hike the gorge, do not attempt to ascend the Pinch Inn trail––especially with a full pack––unless you are an experienced and in-shape hiker!).

Great Pack

Rating:****
Our dog loves this pack. We got it for her when she was only four months old so she could get her used to it for backpacking. She was nervous at first, but quickly forgot about it and trotted down the trail.

The only bad thing is that it seems to be a little too big. She's a growing 30 lb aussie mix and is pretty skinny. We just can't seem to get the straps to tighten quite enough. And when we do, the straps hang down and that frustrates her. We're hoping she just grows a little more.

But overall, it's a fantastic pack. It's incredibly durable and washes well. It has a decent storage capacity for a small pack as well. And she looks really cute in it...

The best fit and function

Rating:*****
My two cairn terriers took to this pack with no problems. It's comfortable for them and they don't balk about wearing it, like some others I tried. The two staps under their belly make it secure enough for me to carry them by the handle on top. The best design of all the dog packs I've seen. It could be improved by adding some reflective tape for nighttime visibility, but I have no complaints.

Perfect Pack for my Dog!

My Beagle absolutely loves this pack. It is a perfect size for him right now. He's just under a year old and weighs about 22 lbs. Whenever I get the pack out he runs to the door and starts barking. Being so small he can't carry all of his own food and water, but the pack will hold it when he is ready.
