Keeps Tea Warm | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| For years I looked for a mug/thermos that didn't come with a notice saying something to the effect that "this thermos is not intended to keep hot liquids hot." When I found this mug, saying it was intended to keep liquids hot, I jumped on it. The first time I poured boiling water into it, the logo got sticky and I am in the process of scraping it off. Otherwise, it is just what I wanted. I pour boiling water in it, and with the lid open, my tea stays drinkably warm for 2 hours or more. Granted, I don't like scalding hot tea, it takes 10-15 minutes before tea made in a ceramic mug is cool enough for me to enjoy. I haven't used the clip, but the handle wiggles, so I am curious how long it will be before it breaks. I don't care about the logo, but I think that if the cup has one, it should be of good quality. Bottom line: I have used this cup everyday since I bought it. | |

GREAT mug, weak handle | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| Overall very good design. I had NO problems with the thermal resistance capabilities. It kept my hot coffee delicous for quite some time and the handle was comfortable to hold. The flip top lid locks securely in place and has an opening big enough to make it easy to sip. The screw top lid stays on very securely as well. The metal sidewall construction is rugged yet lightweight and takes a beating. The wide mouth design makes it easy to clean, but the narrow bottom diameter makes it easy to use in your car as well. My only issue is that the clip on handle is weak, bends alot, and easily comes unclipped, so be sure to stow this cup INSIDE your backpack. | |

Good seal, peeling exterior
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I use this product for my daily drip, and love the tight seal. My only gripe with this product is the black REI logo box, which has started smearing off, leaving a black gummy residue on anything that touches it. This happened even though I hand-wash the mug. | |

OK mug, uncomfortable handle
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I purchased this mug to hit two birds with one stone: find a mug to use car camping, and a good travel mug for the mornings. After using it for several weeks, and a few camping trips, I would only recommend this mug as a car camping item. The first thing I noticed about it is that the handle is not very comfortable at all. The outside ridge is not rounded off, so it rubs and bites at your fingers as you use it, esp at my pinky, which doesn't fit inside the handle, so it gets squished against the edge often. As for heat retention, it is not too bad really. When I pour my tea/coffee into it, the whole mug gets hot in an instant! So be aware of that. It takes a long while for the mug to cool down to a drinkable temp. Which is great if you are camping, and you want to sip away at your coffee as you're packing up the tent, or just puttering about making breakfast, but not so much when you are driving to work. The lid is OK, snapping shut quite well to retain heat, and screws on snugly. It allows good drinking flow, so you don't have to really work at it to drink out of it. One issue with the lid is it is hard to get a feel for where the hot liquid is, so you can get a bit of a rush against your lips, which is not that pleasant in the mornings. Again, better at the camp than the car/office. I have not had any issues with the label coming off, so I can't comment on that. And the other thing that kinda irks me is that you can't put these in the dishwasher. I don't know why, maybe to protect what little there is of insulation, but still... | |

good design -insulation defective
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I was excited to find a mug that fit the Ram mount cup holder that goes in our car/camper etc. The shape and size are good. The non spill lid works great. The double wall insulation is defective. I purchased the first one in Chicago (4 1/2 hr drive). The outside of the mug got hot soon after pouring in hot liquid. Assuming this was a chance defect and after talking to the store (very helpful and nice) I ordered a replacement with the intent to return defect via mail. Well, the replacement has the same issue. One other time when we purchased 2 identical mugs from a coffee house one worked great the other didn't. Seems to be an issue with the vacuum insulation and QC. | |

awful | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| the clip-handle design would probably be useful to some (not to me, it sits on my desk), and the cap is reasonably well thought out. I do not have vent hole or leaking problems, and it seems pretty tight. The lid is kind of a pain to put on but once you get the hang of it it's OK.It does NOT keep coffee hot; the outside is immediately warm when you pour coffee into it. I have a cheap giveaway mug with a stainless liner and plastic cover that does better...and that one isn't great. Also, the silk-screened REI logo smudges and comes off on your hand. [...]. I think i'm gonna buy a nissan thermos instead. | |

Not worth the money! | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I was expecting a top of the line mug for the [$] I spent for it. Unfortunately, this didn't live up to expectations. My coffee was cold after a short (15-minute) car trip. It didn't insulate or keep the beverage hot at all! I agree with other reviewers about the black REI logo becoming sticky. It got very sticky almost immediately when I poured hot coffee into it. In the end, I returned this mug and got my money back. I went [$] and got two great mugs for the same price as the 1 mug at REI. The [...]mugs kept my coffee hot for hours! Don't buy this item- it's not worth the money. | |

Not what I expected | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| Like everyone said -- the insulation sucks (I'll get a good 45 minutes of WARMTH, maybe 15-20 of HOT) but the worst part, in my opinion, is that the logo melts off. It feels gross on my hand, though I haven't seen it stain any of my stuff yet. Money would be better spent on a proper thermos. | |

Travel Mug | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I would rate this as a great product, but there is something in the design that makes it very easy to dribble when the cup is less than about half full. i've had quite a few other travel mugs over the years. i like every other feature about this product, but this is a big con. | |
