| Needed a good pack for backwoods day hikes. Tried this out in the store and though the padding seems minimal it's comfortable, lightweight, and nicely priced. I also considered the REI Traverse, but I like the mesh side-pockets on this one better - they can each hold a good-sized water bottle without impacting the usable space in the pack. After a 10-mile field test I'm very happy with it. It has plenty of space for a day hike and could be used for an overnight trip with careful packing. Very comfortable, no issues with rubbing on the shoulders, though there isn't much (any?) ventilation on the back (otherwise I would give it 5 stars). If you sweat a lot or are hiking in very hot areas you might want something with better venting. The pocket for they hydration pack is sewn to the pack only at the top. At first I thought this might be a problem, that it might wear out, but it turns out that it's actually very convenient as it allows the weight of the water to be shifted (to offset an additional water bottle in a side pocket, for instance). The pocket is a little small for anything bigger than a 2-liter water bladder, though there's certainly space for a full 3-liter, it's just requires more careful adjustment for comfort. | |

| I bought this pack as a day pack after using my REI Cruise UL 60 for backpacking on the AT. I needed a light weight pack but also something with a little bit of storage and this pack has worked out great so far for short day hikes or two day flings. It is really light but also is durable when stuffed with gear that might pull or tear the fabric. The only complaint that I have against the bag is the small loops on top of the top panel. I had strapped my Garmin's clip to that as a temporary place while loading it into my car, resulting in the small loop to tear when the pack was moved. A Garmin is not a heavy device and a loop like that should not have torn as easily. In addition, the matching loop above it tore free from the same side when I pulled against it after the first one broke. I'm not sure if that is defect or maybe just a simple stiching problem. That problem aside, it has shown to be an awesome pack. I am looking forward to maybe seeing if I could push it as a weekend pack when carrying minimal gear. | |

| I really, really like this pack. I was considering the smaller 18 liter pack made by REI, but when I was at the store, it was just too uncomfortable for my frame (6' 4", 220 lbs.). The flash 30 came in a large, so I got this instead. It fits nicely for the sort of pack that it is, and is very comfortable overall. I love that the frame sheet is removable - I am taking this with me on my trip to Europe as my daypack, and will stash it in my larger pack and take it out and use it for daytrips. I've used this pack for school some days, putting in my running gear so I can workout after class. I've used it on one or two day hikes now and it has been great. Good customization as far as the webbing and fasteners on the back - I tend to drench my clothes in sweat, so it's nice that I can stash them on the pack to dry a little bit during my hike. | |

| I am planning to spend a week in Big Bend Texas and will do one overnight hike. I have a 50L pack but don't need the volume so I purchased this pack and saved a pound. I carried all my gear except foam sleeping pad on a test hike up Old Rag. I had about 23 pounds in the pack including a 3L Platypus and two one L water bottles filled. The pack felt OK. After I reached the top I poured out two liters of water and the Flash 30 felt much better, could just be me heading down. It is very comfortable under 20 pounds. I would like a hole for the water tube in the pull collar. It would make gear access a bit better and I will probably do this. | |

| I have the previous version of this pack, Jet UL (different color), and it's been great. It's lightweight, stable and comfortable. The narrow profile of the pack makes it ideal for cycling. You get plenty of ventilation and it's easy to see past when looking back over your shoulder. It's smaller in size so don't expect to cram too much into it. The only drawbacks are possibly long term durability due to it's lightweight construction and the rather high sternum strap. I use a reservoir with mine which detracts from the cargo room. That's OK though, I didn't want an overnight pack. | |

| I have the previous version of this pack and love it. I mainly use it for day hikes or fishing, but it also worked great for travel, outdoor events, road trips and even as a diaper bag. For a small pack, you can put a suprising amount of stuff in it and more strapped to it. Don't go overboard as I once did. For a pack this size, the shoulder straps have decent padding, but not that much. | |

| Used the Flash 30 on 4 day mountain bike trip around Mt Hood. Good design with narrow low profile ideal for singletrack riding (hence no panniers). The lack of extra pockets and minimal extension of webbing on back merits the ding of one star. The pack is light and useful and well worth the money. | |

| Used for climbing 3-4 days a week and was not gentile with it, so I should not have been surprised when it started to tear at the bottom panel and eventually ripped at the top baffle/extension seam after 4 months. I generally overloaded it with metal gear and handled it roughly. It was confortable and well thought out in general, but don't abuse it too much or it will fail. | |
