Great product but not for sharp objects

Rating:****
We have two of these (green and blue) and used them for three days of beach camping. The first thing we discovered we liked about these coolers was that because they are soft-sided, they are easier to pack in a fully loaded car than a hard sided cooler.

We like the size of this picnic cooler, it allows for alot of food items but won't let you overpack so much that it is too heavy to carry. Also, the padded shoulder strap and soft sides make it easier to carry than similarly sized hard coolers. The shoulder strap is attached to the cooler with metal hooks and one side disconnects so it can be stowed.

We keep a camp towel and vinyl tablecloth in the zippered front pocket, which is great for flat items. There are two pockets on either side which fit two wine bottles (tightly). The rear has a pocket, also, that can fit other slim items.

While the size is manageable, the cooler is cumbersome to clean and drain since there is no drain plug. We cleaned ours right when we returned so it would not retain an odor.

We would not recommend putting sharp objects inside the cooler, since it can puncture the interior, which would allow liquid between the liner and the foam core. We also read that while the cooler is packable, that it should not be stored in the packed set up because it can damage the foam.

We plan to bring these with us on the plane when we go on vacation, but we store them in their full position to avoid damaging them.

Extremely Convenient

Rating:*****
Living near a public park, we have a lot of impromptu barbecues in the summer, but we don't have a lot of storage space in our apartment. We decided to buy a soft-sided cooler so that we could easily pack it away into storage during the winter. After nearly a year of shopping and comparing, this one seemed like the best option. We have not been disappointed at all!

It seems to keep contents as cold or colder than other soft-sided coolers we've used. The shoulder strap is extremely handy, since we usually have a bit of a walk and lots of other supplies to carry. And the pockets provide an easy place to stash little extras.

The blanket strap on top was a surprisingly nice addition. Looking at the description on the website, I thought it was a little silly, but it's adjustable and can hold a decent-sized picnic blanket, which frees up a lot of room in our other bags!

The cooler collapses easily, and the best part I didn't even know about until it arrived! When it was shipped to us, it came folded up, and the blanket straps were wrapped the opposite direction, holding the cooler in its collapsed state. That means that we can fold it up, use the straps to keep it compact, and put it away without worrying about it gradually unfolding.

For our lifestyle, living in a small apartment and often getting around on foot, this is pretty much the perfect cooler!

Best soft-sided cooler

Rating:*****
The product description doesn't include what really makes this cooler great - it's collapsible and folds up small with the attached straps, and it's very light. If I'm staying in one place for a few days but still carrying everything on my back, I can lash this collapsed to my pack and then fill it up at the store when I get where I'm going.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that with a few pieces of blue ice, it kept the contents frozen solid for two days and cold for another two.

I searched high and low for a good collapsible cooler and I'm glad I found this one. Great product for the money!

Just What I Wanted

Rating:****
Very well designed cooler; lots of pockets on the outside for napkins, plates, utensils, etc. if going on a picnic. Did a great job keeping things frozen with dry ice. Like the cube shape - can get wide things in it that won't fit in other coolers, like the 3 cakes I froze & transported in it. I Like the hard bottom - more durable on rocky surface. Wish it had a drain mechanism.

I would highly recommend this product!

Rating:****
I have used this product for sporting events, beach use, and camping. The cooler has plenty of space, good pockets and adjustable strap that gives it good comfort while in transit. The only con is I wish the bottom had a rubber coating. However, I would highly recommend this product not to mention REI's service.

Worked as expected

Rating:****
Purchased because it is packable, I didn't want to buy a cooler at my destination that I couldn't bring back.
