Perfect Protection - without DEET !

Rating:*****
We used this on a 3 day backpacking trip in the High Sierra – 3 adults, 3 kids. The only one who got bitten by the very present mosquitoes was one of the dad's who didn't use it on a regular basis.
Mosquitoes were present all day, especially sunset and sunrise of course. The product was perfectly effective throughout! Application is easy, the kids and us adults didn't mind the smell, my daughter and one of her friends even liked it. Protection lasted several hours, whenever the bugs started to showing interest in us again, I just reapplied it. Applying it for 3 days straight for 2 (3) adults and 3 kids on face, neck and exposed parts of arms and legs used close to 1/2 of the bottle.
The only slight problem was when arriving at altitude (6800 feet) the then new (full) bottle leaked due to the pressure difference. Luckily I had it double bagged it in Ziplocs. No leaks thereafter.
Some reports suggested that lemon scented products can attract bears, I called the manufacturer, and was told that no such attraction has NOT been reported with this product and it should be save to use – well, we certainly didn't have any problems with it.

Highly recommend this if you want to protect yourself and the family without relying on a DEET based product!

Extremely Effective Repellent

Rating:*****
We just got back from a week in the high Sierras of CA where mosquitos rule. The Lemon Eucalyptus spray kept me nicely protected on and off trail - for hours at a time. I applied it in the morning and in the evening (with an occasional extra shot if we were up late). The spray goes on fairly dry and works best when gently rubbed in. It does have a strong smell if/when inhaled directly. To avoid this, apply in the open wind/breeze at your face. For face and neck application, spray directly in your hands, rub together and "pat" on.

Ususally I am the one that gets all of the bites, but not this time! In fact the only locations that were vunerable were the ones I didn't spray (such as the inner arches on my feet once I slipped into the Tevas). How nice it is to avoid both bugs + DEET.

Excellent (but smelly) bug spray

Rating:****
I've used two versions of this repellent, the spray and the lotion. They are both quite effective; in a situation where I'd get ten bites unprotected, I get one or none protected. I wouldn't use this in a heavy-malaria area, but for most travel it works fine. The only cons are the smell, which your friends may complain about: for the first fifteen minutes, there's a fairly strong eucalyptus smell, which I don't mind but some people do. I have also loaned this spray to a lot of people, and some feel that it stings the first time they use it but not on subsequent applications.

Best natural repellent

Rating:*****
Used extensively in back-country camping, compared with 99% deet and it was just about as good (hard to actually beat deet). One application lasts roughly 3-5 hours (depends on the intensity of the insects and heat).

The best is that it does not destroy clothing like deet. It is very smelly, make sure you bring it in 2 zip-lock bags in case it leaks (my two bottles have not leaked).

Recommend spraying on hands and then applying, especially around sensitive areas such as eyes and mouth.

definite MUST have for the outdoors

Rating:****
For me, it did NOT sting skin like OFF, etc does. Keeps every crazy bug imaginable away. Does not seem to really wear away. I always have to wash/scrub it off.

Do wish that the scent was not quite as strong. When you spray it on your hat - wait a couple of minutes, even wave it to air it some, otherwise you could easily get a headache from the fumes.

Everyone I have shared this with (+20) love it too!

The Best NATURAL Repellant Out There

Rating:****
For me this has proven to be a very effective natural repellant (I've tried some that aren't, ala Natrapel) with a very good scent, though I guess that's a personal peference issue. It does keep the bugs off, though, for at least 4 hours assuming its not washed off. It does sting/burn a little on application, though this is minor and very preferable to being bitten alive.

Better than DEET

Rating:*****
I used this on a 2-week trip through Honduras and Guatemala and it was awesome! For those that complain about the smell, it's WAY better than smelling of DEET. It lasts a good 4-6 hours, doesn't damage clothes or equipment, and stands up to all sorts of biting bugs. It worked in the jungles (mosquitoes and no-see-ums) and on the beaches (sand flies).

Better than smelling like Deet

Rating:****
The product itself works very good. Just realize that it has a VERY strong scent. Fortunately my friends liked the smell although I was a bit self concious of just how strong it smelled. However, it really worked! Great product.

Nice Product

Rating:****
Nice product - I like that it's natural, doesn't smell bad. Worked well keeping bugs off until it washed off, then I was eaten-up by mosquitos! Definitely need to re-apply if you find yourself wading through a flooded trail.

Alaska beaten not bitten

Rating:****
I had been warned about the mosquitos and no-see-ums before heading to the Alaskan interior wilderness, but I used this and didn't get bitten at all.
