Geek Factor 10++

I ran into the REI at Cal-Expo last night intending to purchase the Jolly Roger "Beatings will continue..." jersey, but they were sold out.

But I saw this, and being a huge nerd, well, decided this would be more appropo. The Apollo 11 12 and 13 mission patches are a nice touch, because if it just said NASA this would actually be a very blah jersey.

I'm 5'5" and 155 and I actually found the Med large on me (but maybe I've lost weight). Bike jersey sizing is so screwy anyway. I think its a club cut (or perhaps the one I bought has the wrong sizing tag on it) as its, well, roomy, but I'd rather have a jersey that's a little big for recreational riding that one that's skin tight.

OTOH, I have a strange body that's often between sizes in a lot of clothing. If you are a rail thin cyclist, this is going to flap on you in a Medium.

It looks awesome with my 2003 Trek 2200 in Titanite Black with the blue striping accents. Not that I select bike jerseys with the criteria that They Must Match The Bike I'm Riding.

Highly recommended if you are a space geek ... my name and my kids' names on the CD that's hitching a ride on the Kuiper probe that's on its way to Pluto for a flyby in 2015. Its nice to see REI carry something that's not a rolling advertisement for an obscure microbrew, a "Look Where I Got My College Degree" jersey, something artsy fartsy about California, Colorado, Washington, Alaska, etc.
